My Story:

Hello to all mommies to be, this is my first baby and my husband and I are sooo excited!!! We can hardly wait to find out if it is a boy or girl! I have wanted a baby...well.. for years and once I got married I knew I could finally fulfill that dream. Our original plan was to wait as many couples do...but after only 5 months of marriage we decided..why the heck not! After all, we had been together for 7 years already so it wasn't as if we hadn't had enough alone time. And.. as a result, we quickly found out about our baby blessing.

I had an ulrasound done at 9.5 weeks and got to see the baby which was the coolest experience I have ever had. It made everything finally seem real! Our baby looked like a little blob, peanut..whatever you want to call it...but was my little angel! Granted there isn't much movement that early on, but our little sweet pea waved his/her little arm as if he/she was waving hello. I will never forget that moment!

Now the waiting game begins, and I am already wanting that baby bump! I think pregnant women are adorable...so for those of you showing already..EMBRACE THAT BUMP!

February 8, 2008

I had my second doctor appointment yesterday and only gained 2 pounds!!! They did all of my bloodwork which wasn't fun, but just part of it. My husband and I also got to hear our little angel's heartbeat! It was so cool! It was measured at 150bpm. Last time at 9.5 weeks it was measured at 178 bpm. The doctor said it was normal for it to drop and at this stage the normal range is 120-160 bpm. so baby is doing great! I was so happy to have an appointment and have that extra reasurrance. I just want everything to go well and for our baby to be healthy!

March 14, 2008

I had my third doctor appointment yesterday and I got to have my second ultrasound! That is just such a cool experience and baby looks great! Everything was measuring normal which makes me feel so reasurred. Plus we got our burning question answered......IT'S A BOY!!!! He was definitely not shy about letting us know. I was surprised a bit..all of the gender prediction stuff said it was going to be a girl. Even the Chinese gender prediction chart which is supposed to be 93% accurate said definitely girl. Oh, well...we are both very happy. I really want a girl, but this way he can be the big brother now! This time his heart beat was measured at 143 and then 140 bpm so it is dropping every visit, but they said not to worry. I was also worried because I have only gained about 5 lbs. total over the past five months which is low, but again the doctor reasurred me that was okay and I should think of that as a good thing. I sure look like I have gained more than 5 lbs.! I guess I am just really streched. (no stretch marks yet!) As long as I have gained around 15 pounds by May that is okay. I have a lot of growing to do! My husband, and everyone for that matter are so excited. My hubby is already picking up paint for the nursery which is fine by me. I am sooo ready to start decorating and preparing for this baby! I am so glad to finally know.

April 4, 2008

Well, I went for another check up yesterday and everything still looks great!!! Mason's heartbeat was up again at 150 bpm. Oh, and I have finally caught up on the weight gain (I guess that's a good thing), I gained 6 pounds in 3 weeks! I was shocked when I stepped on that scale. I had only gained a total of 5 over the past five months and now I more than doubled that for a total of 11 lbs. I guess our little boy is getting big now! Hopefully, it is him and not just me! Also, I found out they are not changing my due date and it is Aug. 12. I thought my due date was the 9th so I was surprised, but I don't know if I will change my profile because I want to be able to talk to the same mommies!

I have been so happy the past couple of weeks because I have FINALLY been feeling him kick! I feel like I waited so long, but it was such a relief to know that I could feel him in there. Sometimes his kicks are so strong they startle me and I can see him moving my belly. It is cool and yet somewhat creepy...haha. His daddy has been able to feel him kick too which I think he really enjoys. I am glad since he doesn't really get to experience all the sensations I go through (both good and bad). We are stalled on his nursery at the moment, but I am raring to go! Granted there is still plenty of time left before he arrives, but as any mother, I want everything to be perfect! Plus, it makes me smile to walk by it and see his little crib and bedding. :)

May 9, 2008

I had anohter doctor appointment last week and had my glucose test and blood drawn. I got the results back this week and my glucose was normal (thankfully) but my red blood cell count was a little low so I am slightly anemic. Now I have to take an iron pill along with my prenatal vitamin, but whatever it takes to keep my little boy healthy is what I will do! Little Mason had a good heartbeat at 150bpm again and everything still looks great! I gained another 7 lbs, it is amazing how that scale continues to rise! My uterus measured 27 cm which is a little big for 25 weeks, but no change in my due date unfortunately. I still have been having this pain in my left side under my ribs which has been there since week 20 and has been getting worse. It feels like a bad bruise or burning sensation-not pleasant. Sitting becomes painful after awhile and I frequently have to change positions. Also, to my delight my back has begun to hurt the past couple of weeks and my feet hurt more quickly. Just the aches and pains of pregnancy I guess. I have a 3D/4D ultrasound scheduled for next week which should be really exciting assuming he cooperates. He should have quite a bit more chub on him since the last ultrasound. I am afraid seeing him will make me want him here even more!!! My husband and I are making progress on the nursery, but we still have a ways to go. I guess there is still a lot of time. We are just so anxious to have our little Mason here though!!! I guess he will be here before we know it. At least I am in my third and final trimester. Whooohooo! I am anxiously awaiting my baby showers which also seem so far away. It will be nice to put things in his room and figure out what we still need for his arrival. Oh well, all in good time I guess. It's amazing how the weeks drag by so slowly and yet so quickly in retrospect.

May 30, 2008

I went for our check up yesterday and everything is still looking great. I gained another 7 lbs. (cringe) for a total of 25 lbs. I hope I don't continue at the same rate or I'll be huge in 10 weeks! Uterus measurement was good and 30 cm so right about where it should be. His heartbeat was 150 bpm again...he sure is consistent. After this appointment I start going every 2 weeks which proves that he will be here before we know it. He is definitely more active now and it is cool when I can feel parts of him poking out. I am so anxious and excited to see him and so is my husband. Of course the grandmas are as well. I have three baby showers scheduled for next month so I am looking forward to that and can't wait to see all of Mason's goodies. It will be nice to put everything in the nursery so we can figure out what we still need. The ultrasound we had a couple of weeks ago was awesome! He has chubby cheeks just as I had hoped and a beautiful nose and mouth. I have some pictures hanging in his room. I can't wait to do a comparison from when he is born.

June 12, 2008

Another great Dr. appointment. I gained 2 lbs. and uterus measurement is still right on track. I have some swelling now...not so much fun, but otherwise everything is great. Baby's heartbeat is still great. He is VERY active these days and it is so much fun feeling him wiggling around! I have baby shower's for the next three weekends and I can't wait to see what the little guy gets!

June 26, 2008

Going to the Dr. every 2 weeks now. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see our Dr. because he was delivering babies...those babies just come when they want to! haha. We saw one of the nurse practitioners who seemed nice enough although I didn't like her comment about my weight gain. She said it wasn't the time to diet, but if I wanted to stop having those extra calories that would be good. UGHH! My doctor said I was doing fine! I gained another 2 lbs. which puts me at 29 lbs. I am on the "normal high end". I am ALL baby though...just in the belly. Oh well, I'll hopefully get to see my doctor at my next appointment in a week. I think he is starting to check my cervix for thinning out and to see if I am dilated from now until the baby is born. WOW..he is going to be here soon and I can't wait!!!!! The nursery is pretty much done now and it is looking great! He received so many wonderful things from all the baby showers that his daddy and I only had to buy a few things and they were covered by the money we received. Talk about blessings!!!

July 11, 2008

Had another doctor appointment yesterday and I go weekly now until he is born!!! I only gained 1 lb which means I am slowing down and my uterus measured 37 cm. That is almost 2 weeks ahead so I REALLY hope he may come early. His heartbeat was 138 which means it has slowed quite a bit, but the doctor didn't say anything about it so I guess that ok. He did the Group B test which was oh so fun and checked to see if I am dilated/effaced which I am not. However, I got confirmation that the little guy's head is down which is a relief since he was a breech baby for awhile. That is also why I have been feeling pressure down low. I am getting so close now I wish he was here already!!!! Oh please don't make me wait another 4 weeks little boy!!!

July 18, 2008

Dr. appointment yesterday went pretty well. Very similar to last week. Uterus measured 37 cm again, 138 bpm heart rate and I am not effaced or dilated. (grrr..) I also gained another two pounds unfortunately. I almost had to stay at the hospital because my blood pressure was REALLY high. (I was late getting to the Dr. so I was stressed and practically running to get there!) However, it went down with a bit of time so that was good. I did get a bit of good news however. I will be induced on the 12th of August if my little man isn't born by then because my Dr. will be on vacation after that. So wooohoooo....only 26 more days left then and I have the reasurrance that I will not be weeks overdue! Can't wait to meet my little man. I have been dreaming about him so much lately.

your welcome . and congratulations

arcanejane - Monday, 16 June
Hi! With my first, we didn't pack until I was 39 weeks. I just thought it was ridiculous to have a bag of my stuff just sitting there. LOL...anyway, if you buy nothing else, make sure you buy a pack of Depends underpants and something to occupy your time. You most likely won't be getting any sleep in the hospital because the nurses will literally be in and out of your room all night and all day, which is why I left after one day. The hospital food is gross, so be prepared for that as well. I personally was so tired that I didn't take a shower in the hospital, so it was a waste for me to pack soap and lotion and stuff. They will give you everything you need for the baby during your stay, so I wouldn't pack diapers or anything like that, just a coming home outfit. Congratulations and best wishes!

Mommy-Melissa - Monday, 16 June
Packing is fun! I'm on my second due Aug 8th. You can pack whenever you want, now is probably best so you can be ready and not worry about it later. You will need the following for yourself: Brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair tie, makeup if you wish, underwear, nursing bra, comfortable pj's and clothes for the ride home. If your going to nurse you want to make sure the clothes you bring are easy for you to nurse. Socks, hospitals can be cold! Pads, because theirs are huge, you might want your own. For the baby: don't forget the carseat!! A going home outfits. Socks, gloves. They will supply diapers, but you can bring your own if you want. Camera, Video
Camera. Anything else you remember. If you want, bring shampoo and conditioner, I didn't have any so my hair was really bad! They will only give you their crappy soap for everything. Bring enough for 3 days just in case you stay.
