My profile

Hello all. I started this site for my sister. She is 20 weeks and 4 days pregnant. She is a very high risk pregnancy. This is pregnancy #4. All other three were miscarriages. This time she has a doctor that has enabled her to make it farther in the pregnancy than ever before. She has two problems: pre-term labor and an incompetent cervix. At 8 weeks that put in a cerclage and put her on bed rest at home. Last weekend (she was 20 wk 3 days) she went to the hospital because of severe back cramping and bleeding. She was told that she would remain in the hospital for the remainder of her pregnancy. I am on this site to seek wisdom and encouragement that I can pass on to her over the phone. Anything you send would be helpful. I have never been pregnant and can't understand her situation from that perspective. Thanks all you great people out there.

My sister is now (July 13, 2008) 21 weeks 4 days. It has been a struggle. Read the blogs at the left to get a daily update of her journey.

My sister lost her baby on Wed July 16. She was exactly 22 weeks.

That is sooo sweet what you are doing for her!!! Wow... my thoughts and prayers go out to your sister!!! The good thing is that they know what her previous m/c were from! Now that she is in the hospital hopefully they can monitor her closely!

Is your sister on Progesterone shots? I was on them since week 16, they help to keep your uterus and cervix relaxed. If she isn't perhaps she should inquire. Also is she being seen by a high risk specialist or just an ob/gyn?

First and foremost I am so sorry to hear about your sister's losses. I pray and hope that she goes onto deliver a healthy beautiful baby. I suffered 1 loss to Incompetent Cervix and almost lost my little boy. Please feel free to pass by my page and read my story. Long story short ...emergency cerclage at 22 wks w/ a funneling cervix and 1 cm dialted, 3 months of bedrest, 3 weeks in the hospital on strict bedrest because I dilated to 3 cm w/ cerclage in place, and weekly shots of Progesterone shots. My baby arrived at 36 wks and spent a week in the NICU but he is healthy. As for your sister I totally sympathize. Please be very patient w/ her. Bedrest takes everything from you emotionally and physically. It is a very lonely time in what is supposed to be a wonderful time in a woman's life. Try to get her things to keep her entertained, laptop, magazines, books, etc. I'm sure there will be times when she will be very moody, pissed, nasty, etc. just bare w/ her this is really, really hard and on top of it all very scarey because she is carrying great pressure to do all she can to keep her baby safe. That was one of things that people overlooked w/ me. Not only is it bedrest but you are constantly scared, any twinge, pain, ANYTHING and your nerves are going haywire not to mention those beautiful hormones that don't help either. Here is a great site for some support. http://groups.msn.com/IncompetentCervixSupport/cerclageremovalstories1.msnw?action=view_list&viewtype=0&sortstring=1a2a Please keep me posted and if you have any questions please feel free to ask away. I promise your sister, she won't remember any of this once she looks into her baby's eyes. I would do it all over again for my baby and not think about it twice.

My niece just had that happen to her she was pregnant with twins and one day early in her pregnancy the Dr. started to give her a pelvic and noticed that an arm was dangling out of her cervix. She was put on bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy and because her cervix never closed all of the way and was weak she too was fitted with a cerclage. She didn't stay on bed rest but she did have to perfectly healthy 7lb twins. Don't worry to much usually in the end you kick yourself for stressing yourself out for no reason. I know because I myself am 20 wks pregnant. Take care, all the best. C.K.

Hi there...I would like to start off by saying your very brave and encouraging to be doing this for your sister and i would like to commend you for that...I have quite a long story for you if your willing to read and i think it may help her out...when i was pregnant for my son yes i had complications...i almost lost him at three months pregnant they kept me in the hospital pretty much sure that i was gonna loose him. He had a really weak heart and i was bleeding lots with heavy pain like a knife stabbing me in the stomach...then all of a sudden everything was fine heart rate went back up bleeding stopped it was great until i hit 7 months pregnant i was told by my doctor that i could travel so i did.. I went away by car with my fiance making sure to get out of the car every hour to stretch and make sure i walked around for at least 15 mins sometimes even longer...But the next day we got to our destination i went to the hospital with cramping and then they told me i was in labor!!!! what the hell i said...i don't have nothing here for the baby i was freaking out...that not even the least of it ok...ready for one story and a half? well they did an ultrasound and they told me then that i was having a boy cause i didn't know at the time and that not to be too alarmed but he was gonna come out with some abnormality to his head. That his head was pushed inwards and not sure what kind of complication would occur until he was delivered...well you wanna know about a girl who was freaked out i didn't have any of my family there to support me nothing i was supposed to be on vacation!!! well ended up that they gave me a depository to stop the labor and i was hospitalized for two weeks until my son wouldn't hold on anymore so he came 6 weeks early would of been 8 but they were able to stop the labor and all until then, so yes gave birth to my son out of town and thank god for my sister in law who drove down to bring me the necessity's that i needed and she saw the birth, it was vaginal and i didn't take any meds so i went all natural hard but made it through...but when he was born he was beautiful nothing wrong with him what so ever. he had a little bit of a cricket nose but that was only because his face was against my hip bone so that is what they were measuring was my hip bone stupid dummies but he is an awesome little boy who has a great attitude and calm absolutely amazing couldn't ask for anything better!!!!! Now for another story me and my fiance got pregnant last august for twins and ended up miss carrying them. Because of a cyst that grew and grew too big for the twins to grow...So now third pregnancy and third complication...i was diagnose with placenta previa...it's when you placenta sits too low and wants to come out when the placenta is supposed to be at the top! It caused some heavy bleeding and some cramping. I am now off of work being told i have to take it easy can not have intercourse or anything can't even clean my house. So kinda on house arrest...i was told by my doc at my last appointment that when i do turn around 24 weeks i will have to be bed rest in the hospital. I am not looking forward to it but i know it will be best for i and the baby. Tell your sister keep her head up high and remember it's for the best. I do understand that being in the hospital is boring the food isin't good and you don't always have all the loved ones that you want around you. I sometimes think why me why all this complication but then i think there are some that can't get pregannt at all...Tell your sister i am thinking baout her and that be happy she is pregant i know it hard with all these complications and it's not fun and no one deserves it. She will do fine and if ever she would like u to transfer any messages i would be more then happy to talk we could be pen pals with you helping us out.. Take care and i hope to hear from you soon. Tell me how things are.
