This is my 3rd pregnancy I have two other wonderful daughters and I thought 'oh my other pregnancies were a breeze I can't wait to be pregnant again!' Boy did I jinx myself! This is has been the biggest roller coaster ride, with spotting and bleeding up until 12wks being told at 17 weeks we were having a boy! We told everyone and it was to be the first grandson in generations only to get another ultra sound 5 weeks later and they told us nope that is definitely a girl! This pregnancy has been soooo different from my girls I am still thinking that come delivery time there is a 30% chance the baby will come out to be a boy lol! Not good since the nursery is in ladybugs and totally girly! Now I am dealing with preterm contractions and dilation and with 2 kids at home not easy to just lay down and rest. I am a stay at home mom and doing things is what I do, I only had to be on bedrest for 3 days and I went crazy (and it was over easter weekend so no hunting or yummy dinner for me or hubby lol) So far that is my story I will keep updating hopefully good news!!!

March 26- Changed doctors today! Don't know if you saw my post but my original doctor moved to Cali so I just grabbed a doctor out of thin air and she and I didn't mesh well. Was in L & D 3 days over the weekend and one of the times I was there she was sitting at the desk and didn't even acknowledge me. Then she didn't even come to see how I was doing while i was there. My hubby was so mad! So yesterday I had an impromtu with another dr whom i loved and I called today and changed over to her!! YEAH!!

April 16- Things here are holding steady! Only 2 more weeks and I am free of all of the restrictions!! I am kind of nervous cause I keep thinking that the first thing I do (probably sex with hubby lol) I am going to go into labor! But my doc said they won't stop anything after 35 weeks! I have an appt with her when I am 35 weeks and 5 days so I am going to hold off till I see her and then away we go!!!!

May 7- Well I made it this far yeah!!! I am officially any day now as I am 2cm and 70% effaced baby is in position and very low! Been having good contractions but mainly little ones throughout the day! I want to go to 37 wks (only 5 more days!) and then it is game on!

During my first pregnancy, I had a midwife instead of a regular doctor and she prescribed the raspberry leaf tablets for the entire 3rd trimester ( I believe, or maybe around 30 weeks). She said it would help strengthen my uterus and make sure that I did not go post-term. My son ended up being born at 41 weeks, so I don't know if he would have been even more late without the pills or if it just didn't work. I do know that my contractions were very strong and that they broke my water immediately, so that could be related to the raspberry leaf.

I just started drinking the tea recently. My box recommends 3 cups a day. I make a big batch with three tea bags in the morning and make it into ice tea. I find it to be very tasty and a refreshing change from all the water, so whether it works or not, at least I like it.

Hi, if its loose leaf Red Raspberry then you put about 2 Tbls in the water and let it steep for about 5-10 minutes (covered so that you don't loose the good stuff in the steam). If its already bagged then you just use one bag...I guess thats obvious though. And I've been told by an herbalist and in reading some books that three cups spread out through the day is good at the end of pregnancy. However, it doesn't start contractions or make your labor start. Its purpose is to tone the uterus so that you'll have more efficient contractions during labor. So, drinking it does help, but maybe not in the way you were expecting. good luck!

Oh and only one of my babies was 2 days "early" -the other three took me till almost 41 weeks.

Random two things that I did eat before finally going into labor with 2 of mine-spicy chicken chili from Bennigan's and spumoni Italian ice cream (a lot of it-wives' tale) from the local Italian restaurant. (: Who knows?

I think I drank a cup or two daily for the last months (hoping to order some rasp. leaves today from my favorite naturalgrocers.com)....1st baby was 3cm dilated and very effaced for 3 weeks, still almost a week overdue, 19 hours labor (probably drank it, can't remember though most "natural" birth), pushed for 1/5 hours. 2nd baby in labor for 8 hours, easier though lots of back pain, 3rd baby same exact times in labor easier though no back labor (her positioning), 4th baby 11 hours, she got "stuck" in weird position when I was 9 1/2 cm, in transition for 4 hours (not fun), ended up getting epidural and loved it. (: Have you found much research to support the rasp. leaf? I remember reading/hearing it was so good for uterus. I figure it couldnt' hurt but would labor have been longer/harder if not, I don't know. I wish I could remember which ones I drank tea with. I think all of them, but it seems like only 1-2 two of them did I drink it IN HOSPITAL (I don't think with first baby but can't remember)..I did a combination of comfrey and other herbs too ..if I locate it, I will send that recipe to you but I can't find it in my folder right now. Best wishes!

Hard to know if it works or not -I can give you my birth (brief ) stories if you like. I can't remember which (maybe all?) babies I used it with, last weeks. I was told to drink... When in labor/going to hosp. 1 oz rasp leaves in 2 cups hottest water you can handle, steeped 30 min. ½ cup every ½ hour

Oh honey! We need to go somewhere together haha. I'm in the same boat...I'm constantly thinking that this might be it and they will progress and then they FADE. GRRRR. I feel like utter crap today. I am really getting sick of throwing up. I am eager to see my doctor tomorrow and hear what they have to say.

90's-WOW! It was rainy and snowy here yesterday but it's supposed to be mid 80's this weekend. Maybe all these weather changes will help us out haha!

Do you feel more prepared now and did you have time to get packed etc??

AlyEwing-Ball - Wednesday, 14 May
I'll be happy to go anytime after tonight (my football/soccer team are playing in a final tonight and i'd like to see that first!) after that - bring it on, i'm ready for this to be over with!!! the heartburn alone is depressing me!!!

MommyJewels - Wednesday, 14 May
Well I keep jumping on here to see how is going into labor next. It's not me. I'm having a long talk with my cervix:)

Thank you for commenting on my loss of my poodle. I definitely know how you fell with the loss of yours. I see that your last comment was on May 7th. Since today is the 13th I can assume that your little one hasn't decided to come forth.

I think we should come up with it together honey:) Kind of like those useless heart monitors that you can buy at BRU's to hear the heartbeat at home...but this one will monitor contractions and will be a TON cheaper than the ones that the home health care offices have. We also need invisible bellies and an electronic scroll that reads a coundown. I'm serious! I am too much of a control freak to be so out of control with this.

SIGH

At what weeks did your girls come into the world?

AlyEwing-Ball - Tuesday, 13 May
yeah, because nothing is easy at all is it!! my other half thinks i'll go in the middle of night too. I asked him why he thought that and he said because i don't do anything by half or the easy way!!! he's also always thought that i'd have the baby this week too so we will see soon enough i suppose...

allisonjoey - Tuesday, 13 May
ya, I tried talking to them. They are all too immature to get over their pride and admit they are being jerks. lol, with our nursery, I didn't want anyone to buy that stuff, I wanted to do it our selves so we could pick out everything we wanted... So we went out and bought it all when I was like 20 weeks preggers. (Some of our family just doesn't have good taste and we wanted it to look the way we wanted!)

AlyEwing-Ball - Tuesday, 13 May
they'll probably come when you try to sleep so that you'll end up exhausted during the labour!!! sorry - but that's what i think will happen to me!! i was feeling ill on monday and kept thinking that - "please don't come now, i don't think i've got the strength or energy to push you out into this world!!!" suppose we just find the strength!!

Good luck though and keep me posted!!

kerrin - Tuesday, 13 May
