Hi all, well I'm not too good at doing my page so it seems I'm typing in fat red letters. Oh well! As I write this my Clem is 11 months old, and my 'big boys' are 6 and 7. Clem and I just got back from walking them to school. We're really lucky to have a great primary school just up the road. Life's going pretty jolly well - always busy juggling work and kids and DH's work but I wouldn't change much. Clem is a darling - just coming out of a couple of weeks of teething, yay. Still not crawling but developing well in all other ways so I am sure it will happen when he's really ready. We've been a wee bit tempted to go for a number 4 baby but that might be overachieving. I think we'll just be content to spoil the ones we have. I'm still breastfeeding Clem, which is the longest I've gone with any of my boys. I joke sometimes that I'll be doing it until he's 17 but I think maybe there's just a couple of months left for us. Wait and see, hey.

Well it's hard to believe Clem is 7 months old already. He's developing a real little personality. Mostly pretty laid back but he likes people to take notice of him and does some pretty loud squealing. He's not yet sitting properly and has no teeth but loves to stand as much as possible. He can hold all his own weight, just needs to be held steady. Starting to wonder if he'll walk before he crawls! I'm in no hurry for him to grow up though. I have two big boys, he's my baby! I am really enjoying the support and friendship of other mums on this site. I thought I wouldn't have time to get on here after my pregnancy, but here I still am!

I had my darling little boy Clement Barnaby on Tuesday 9th October after about 5 hours of labour. He's the smallest of our three boys (6lb 2 oz) but then he was 2 weeks early and I was on the gestational diabetes diet so there were not too many spare calories floating about! He didn't look skinny though, just perfect, and was the average length for a boy of 38 weeks gestation. He's since been making up for lost time by eating, eating, eating! My poor nipples. But I want to give him all he needs. Let's just hope he decided he's caught up soon! Apart from that he's been wonderfully settled and I'm loving being a mum for the third time (so much more relaxed!). We are so blessed.

Thanks Yeah, at this point I think I'm just stuck pumping but I definately hope that with the next one, breastfeeding will come easier. I absolutely know I'll do things a little differently in the hospital if I can help it next time, though I had little control over it this time just kind of have to keep reminding myself that as long as she is getting breastmilk that is the important part!

starby - Saturday, 26 July
Aw, thanks for the info...I've pretty much already figured I'm going to be exclusively pumping for the long haul. Being told our daughter has a high palate was just icing on the cake :) I too have a problem with having pretty large breasts that are extremely full of milk all the time so even if she does latch it never seems to go well anyway. I just hadnt been able to find much about high palates and I dont know if its something they grow out of or if it will cause speech problems or anything like that...anyhoo, I do thank you for the information!

Thanks for giving me your input. I just talked to the receptionist about my situation and she suggest what you said. I'm going to see the doctor this friday afternoon. And hopefully find out what is going on. Thanks for helping me out.

Oh yes, We had cold feet and decided to wait and BAM got a positive test it was quite the emotional rollarcoaster ride! If you don't decide it will be decided for you as it was with us. I'm happy though and wouldn't trade my lil boy! Good luck!

Just read your post-- I think it's completely normal to have those second thoughts ESPECIALLY when you already have kids. You know how hard parenting can be at times. But like you said--you will manage! So if you get that BFP, be prepared to feel the ups and downs. But in the end, you will have a beautiful baby that you can't imagine life without. Take care and best of luck to you.

Well I am here to give MY opinion on having another. I have 6 and expecting number 7 and I am 38( I'll be 39 when the baby arrives). So pushing your luck? NO I don't think so. Being selfish? NO I don't think so. I think those that say "oh but I want MY LIFE BACK" are the selfish ones. Now my eldest is 19 1/2 the next one down is 17 then a break ( I have lost MANY ) then almost 9,7,5,3. I haven't been lacking in invitations to things or peoples places, in fact we are invited MORE! So, I think if YOU GUYS are welcoming life, then welcome it Go for it. Well that's what I THINK!

My 2 cents RE your question in the Large Families forum: you will never truly regret having another baby, if it should happen. You're 38, which means you're young in my book (I'm 43). There will always be people who think if you have more than 2 children you are out of your mind, irresponsible, the carbon footprint, etc., etc. Do you like those people? Do you hang around with them now? I have four sons and the distance in age between my youngest and the next is pretty darn wide (12 years), but I can think of plenty of folks I love and respect who are 10-15 years older than myself, so I'm confident that this little chap will be loved and respected and love and respect his older bros. Now I really don't know if there are any more babies in our future. Again, I know I would be accused of being a terribly irresponsible mother, but, if it happens, it happens. I'm not really "trying," but we haven't sterilized one or the other of us, nor can I go on the pill, so... we'll see

Thank you so much for writing me back. Let me try to answer your questions first. Okay, he is eating well through out the day. My doc recommends 2 solids a day so that's what he gets. He nurses every three hours until 5 in the evening. At that point we switch to formula because everyone kept telling me formula fed babies slept better. Well, it did not make a difference for my son. I have also tried cereal and formula (not cereal in a bottle, cereal by a spoon followed by formula) right before bed which made no difference. He is right at 50% weight and height and on tract developmentally.

So, last night he got up at 12 (I fed him), 3( I fed him) and then at 4 41. At the 4 41 feeding I was so annoyed I decided I wasnt going to feed him. I tried soothing him, rocking him, giving him his pacifier, pretty much everything and nothing made him happy. Well I let him cry in his crib for 5 minutes (keep in mind he had been crying before for me to feed him & and by this time I was crying) and he started to gag he was crying so hard. At this pt it was 6 AM and I finally gave in and fed him. O, I also had given him Tylenol and oral gel just in case it was his teeth. I dont know what to do.

I wonder if I should make an apt with his doctor but last time I was there I told her his sleeping habits and she acted like it was normal. I am at a lost. I get so jealous listing to these ladies with 6 week old babies complain there babies still gets up twice a night. That would be a blessing for me.

O one more thing I do nurses him at night but for a week I tried to bottle feed him at night (to make sure he was taking in a whole feeding and not just "snacking") and it made no difference.

I will try your approach and maybe it will work. Thank you for trying to help me. Sorry my message was so long

Cassie

Hey, just wanted to thank you so much for your reply. After you mentioned swaddling, I decided to give it a try. I didnt usually bother because i assumed Lucas liked to sleep loose because he usually kicks of his blankets and likes having his hands free. Anyways, he was crying and as soon as i wrapped him up he stopped instantly. Getting him down for naps and bed is easy now and he's so much happier for it! So again thank you so much!! xx

Hi, there!

I just can't wait until December for me.

My baby is starting to move inside of me where I can feel it. Just a small wiggly, tickly feel. I feel pretty good to know he/she is moving around in there.

Smiles,

Debora :-)
