Aug 27- 12 weeks and 5 days pregnant! Glad to be in the second tri-mester and desperatley hoping that the morning (all day!) sickness will fade soon. First started getting morning sickness in week 6 and it's rendered me just about useless ever since!! Vomiting almost every day, hard to eat, the smell of everything turns my stomach...I've lost 3 kilos in the past 6 weeks.
Had my nuchal scan last week! It was amazing to see our baby so fully formed already! And they are 60% sure that it's a BOY at this stage!!
Even though the baby had a thin neck 1.5mm and they detected a nasal bone, due to my blood work, I was given a high risk of 1 in 176 of having a Downs Syndrome baby...now we have to decide whether to go ahead with the Amnio or not. Big decision...

Sept 4 - Had my first appointment at the hospital where I'll give birth yesterday. Was there for two hours but it was mainly just a session for them to gather pregnancy history, etc from me. They took my blood pressure - but no other examinations or tests.
They discussed the amnio with me and my husband and I have to go back on Thursday to make my decision. However, if we decide to do it, the op won't be until week 16 of pregnancy. At this stage we are still unsure what to do... Sept 18 We have now decided against the Amnio...

Oct 10 - Had 19 week scan today. IT'S A GIRL!! She was being a bit sooky and curling up into a ball making it hard for the sonographers. But they managed to see everything they needed in the end. Everything was good and no problems were detected. Heart rate is 160. She is just beautiful and I can't wait to meet her! My husband is aleady getting very protective and thinking of ways to keep her away from boys when she's a teenager!

Nov 21 - Had doctor's appointment today. All is good - fundus measuring as it should, my weight has increased by 2kgs this month (4kgs during pregnancy so far ie 8.8pound) and bubby's heartrate was 155. Midwife said it was to be expected that it would be a little high as she was very active during taking the heartrate and kicking like furious! Just over 3 months to go until we get to hold this precious little girl!!
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Dec 6 - Officially in the third tri-mester as of today!! 3 months to go! Baby is moving around so much it is amazing, we can actually feel her under my skin sometimes. Yesterday, my husband and I could feel what we though was her head (we were very gentle!!). Got my glucose test coming up on Saturday. And it's my B'day tomorrow!!

Dec 12 - Had antenatal appointment this morning. All is good. Bub's heartrate: 140. Fundus: 27. My weight 66.4 kgs (146pound) - gained 3kgs since last month! Almost 7kgs so far this pregnacy ie about 14pounds.
Glucose screening came back clear: No gestational diabetes! Phew!! My iron is apparently just a little low - so I've got a good excuse to tuck into a few extra nice juicy steaks...mmm!
Also had my Rhogam shot today (negatice blood type) which had a bit of a sting, but wasn't too bad (:
We're moving house on the 29th of December, to a bigger place, to make room for bub - I'm looking forward to putting the baby's room together and getting all prepared!

Dec 24 - Christmas Eve and just got back from antenatal appointment. Bub's heartrate: 149. Fundus 29. My weight 68.3 kgs (150pounds) - gained 2kgs just in the last 12 days!! 9kgs so far this pregnancy. The midwife said 16 kgs in the ideal weight gain for whole pregnancy ... so I've got just 7kgs up my sleeve for the next 10 weeks! Guess I better go easy over Christmas....

Jan 15 - Been offline for a few weeks. Moved house to a bigger place to have room for the bubby....moving while 7+ months pregnant is NOT fun! Especially in this crazy Queensland heat. Slowly putting the nursery together.
Pregnancy is moving along nicely. I'm getting such a huge belly! People keep assuming that I'm due anyday now. But I'm not due for another 7.3 weeks!
Last antenatal appointment was on the 10th of Jan. Bub's heartrate: 141. Fundus 32. My weight 70.4 kgs (yep putting on about 1 kilo/2.2 pounds per week now!) Apparently my blood pressure was up a little 120/75 but they said it's still fine. Starting my antenatal classes on the 22nd.
Bub is kicking and moving SOOOOO much, it really hurts sometimes!! She gets the hiccups a couple of times a day - which is cute but can also feel a little uncomfortable! Can't wait to meet this little girl!!!!!

Jan 24 - Bub's heartrate: 140. Fundus 33. My weight 71.1 (just .7 kgs in the last two weeks!) Blood pressure 118/69. Bub is head down, LOA position. She was moving and sticking her little foot out so much while the doctor was measuring her! It was so cute.

Feb 6 - My husband has been a godsend throughout my whole pregnancy. He loves kids and is just so excited. He has been extremely supportive and I know he is going to be such a great father. He has attended all of my antenatal classes and appointments with me, massages my feet and back, he's always reading 'what to expect when your expectign', he did all the cooking during the 3 months I was out with morning sickness and continues to do all of the strenuous chores now, and he sings- reads to - and gives my baby bump hugs and kisses 100 times per day! I love him!!

Feb 7 - So weekly antenatal appointments from this point on!! Time sure is going fast now. Bub's heartrate seems to be staying consistant at 140bpm. Bub is head down LOA but not engaged yet. My Fundus is 35 - I'm measuring a week small...have been for about 4 weeks now, but doctor says it's nothing to be concerned about. My blood pressure is all over the place! She took 3 different readings today but settled on 125/76 - it's kind of high so she is just going to keep an eye on it. I've also got swelling in my hands and my rings are so tight! The doctor tested my urine incase pre-eclampsia had reared it's ugly head, but thankfully no proteins were present at this point.

My Labour and Hospital bags are packed and ready to go:
LABOUR BAG: *Nightshirt for labour *Facewash cloths *Box of tissues *Sorbelene cream (massage) *Lip balm *Toothbrush & paste *Swim trunks for hubby (shower) *Headband/hairbands *Socks *Snacks - muesli bars, sultanas, sesame snaps ...and some chocoate! *Drinks

HOSPITAL BAG: *Underwear x 10 * Maternity bras x 3 *Nightgown *Slippers *Nightie *Boxer shorts x 2 *Singlets x 4 *PJ pants x 1 *Track suit pants x 1 *Sweater x 1 *Toilettries bag *Maternity pads x 3 pack *Breast pads x 1 pack *Coin purse full of coins *Paper and pen & For Baby: *Baby wraps x 2 *Onesies x 3 *Singlet x 2 *Nappies x 10.

Feb 15 - Had my 37 week appointment at the hospital yesterday. Baby is now engaged!! The midwife said 'it won't be long now' but ofcourse with 3 weeks to the due date that statement doesn't really say a lot!! Bub's heartrate has stayed consistant for a while now at 140bpm. I'm only measuring 34cm but apparently that could be because of the fact that she has dropped. My blood pressure was 125/78 and my weight 73.6kg.

I had a wonderful Valentines Day. My husband took the day off work and after the hospital appointment we went out for lunch, then did some errands and went and had afternoon tea....Caramel Decafe Latte and a Vanilla Slice...YUM. Then last night he took me out to dinner to a great Thai place where I got a red valentines balloon and a heart shaped chocolate. It was a really nice LAST Valentines Day as just two!!

Feb 20 - I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow. Had my weekly antenatal appointment today. Baby's heartrate is slightly higher at 150bpm. I'm only measuring 36cm but doctor said that as long as there was some growth it's fine. Her head is quite firmly engaged. My blood pressure was 117/81.
Finished our birthing/parenting classes last night. Only two weeks to go! But I'm sooooo bored of waiting!

Feb 27 - 39 weeks tomorrow! At my antenatal appointment today baby's heartrate was back to 140bpm and I'm now measuring at 38. She has been in LOA position for the longest time but has just moved to ROP! I hope she moves back! I really don't want to have a cesearean if it can be helped. ):
My blood pressure was taken 3 times as the first reading was pretty high at 142/85, but the next reading were much better with 122/72 and then 114/69. My weight was 75.4kg...so almost another 2kg in two weeks...I thought the weight was meant to slow down now!!

KLO - Thursday, 7 Feb
My fingers are huge and they hurt. Everynight they fall asleep constantly it's getting on my nerves i had none of this with my first. I took my rings off early so i'm no help for you there. My blood pressure is always great though? I hope it gets better for you.

rachaelh - Thursday, 7 Feb
Hello...I wouldn't worry about your BP. Doctors say anything over 140/95 is high (even if only one of the numbers reads over that mark). Yours actually sounds average. If you worry about it too much, the stress will make it go up. I had the same issue.

iamnesting - Thursday, 7 Feb
Hi there,
if you are desperate to get your rings off, keep your arm/hand elevated above your head for 10-15mins while holding an icepack against the finger with the ring...

mamajess - Thursday, 7 Feb
Hey! Just to make you feel better the average normal blood pressure is 120/70 so yours isn't too bad. Mine usually runs a little low too, usually around 106/60, but mine has had a little incline toward the end too. It is all normal. I wouldn't worry about it too much! :)

rachaelh - Wednesday, 6 Feb
Thanks for the washing advice!

Hi, the Dr. told me to use an anti-fungal cream. That helped a lot, but it kept coming back. I had to keep cornstarch, or baby powder w/cornstarch under the girls to keep them dry. Messy, but worth it! Good luck and Congrats!

Thx for the birthday wishes! I was ready to change into my jammies at 5:30, but Jeff insisted on taking me out to dinner. Didn't do anything big...too tired!!!

butterblocksmom - Friday, 1 Feb
That is a fabulous name!!! We are still 'discussing' (read fighting) over the name. I want Jackson, he wants Jay. It's my own fault, the moment I found out I was preggers I started calling bub JJ (Jeff Junior) and Jeff SENIOR loves it so much he can't get it out of his head. So he wants the name to be Jay so he can call him....JJ. Men.

I KNOW bub is moving SO much sometimes my whole body jerks. I sit in meetings over lunch and seriously wonder if people can see my belly bouncing!!!

Are you so excited to be having a girl? I am scared about having a boy...esp if he is anything like his father (LMAO)!

butterblocksmom - Thursday, 31 Jan
How are you? Can you imagine - I am ready for baby NOW...what happens if we go to 40 weeks??? OMG what happens if we go 42 weeks???

Isn't it wild how they move around now? Do you have a name for your little pumpkin princess?

jazzy1stbaby - Wednesday, 30 Jan

Hi again. I'm doing well, just getting a little impatient now at the end.
We live on the west coast and don't normally get too much snow, but last night got a big dump and it's much colder than usual. Can't complain too much though. It could be a lot colder. It has been just below freezing.
You must be so excited! This is your first baby, isn't it?
My 4 year old son says he can't wait this long till March and he wants to see 'Silver' now! (He named the baby Silver):)

soon2bmummaof2 - Tuesday, 29 Jan
Congratulations on the pregnancy! Not too much longer now! It must be terrible in that heat, and moving too! Hope you're feeling well! :)

rosiebaby2 - Tuesday, 29 Jan
too funny...I am in Labrador on Marine Pde and yes get the seabreezes. I know all my friends visiting have been disappointed with all the cool wet weather we have had, whereas both Melbourne and Sydney have been 40's +...so I have not felt it as a real summer and don't mind that it hasn't been. Have you done your antenatal class yet?

rosiebaby2 - Tuesday, 29 Jan
Hi fellow Qld'er...just wondering where you are as I am here on the Gold Coast and we have hardly had any heat...which is fortunate for me as my b/p had been high and have excessive fluid to boot! Just returned from an u/s and my little boys already measuring 5lb 10 oz and not due til 14th March...lol. Looks like I am straying from our family history's as genetically we come from a long line of little bubs and apparently this one will not be!!!
P.S Its good if you maintain your weight however do not be too concerned...I was only 58kg and am now 77kg...phew and apparently its a lot of fluid however I have spoken to many women that had similar stories to mine, that lost it all fairly quickly after birth.
Enjoy your pregnancy xx

butterblocksmom - Monday, 21 Jan
Hey good luck with that! Let me know how it goes....won't be too long now! 7 weeks...wow!

butterblocksmom - Friday, 18 Jan
Hey I was chatting with another girl about her losing her plug and I copied some info to send to her and I notice it mentioned pink/brown discharge. Maybe you lost a bit of your plug? Here's the info:

During pregnancy, secretions will accumulate and form a mucus plug at the opening of your cervix. The mucus plug helps to prevent infection from occuring in your uterus and developing baby. The mucus plug will remain at the top of the cervix until just before labor begins.

As labor begins, the cervix will begin to thin out and dilate. As this happens, your body may expel the mucus plug. Many women find a gooey blob on their underpants or toilet tissue after using the restroom. The mucus plug may be stringy mucus or a sticky discharge. The mucus plug may come out all at once or it may come out over a period of time, so you might not realize that you are losing it. Sometimes the mucus has brown, pink or red streaks of blood mixed within it. This is normal and should be a cause for conern unless there is a significant amount of blood. There is not a set to lose the mucus plug. Some women may lose the plug early in their third trimester, towards the middle of the third trimester or immediately prior to labor starting.
While it is true that labor will begin after your mucus plug has come out, there is no set time for labor to actually begin. Sometimes labor begins within a few hours and sometimes it can take weeks. You can tell your doctor that you think your mucus plug has come out, but there is no reason to pack your bags up and rush to the maternity ward! Sit back, relax and get some rest until other signs of labor begin. However, if your discharge is bright red or is more than a few tablespoons, you should call your caregiver promptly.

I know..any action he gets these days is purely out of sympathy!!!

Glad to hear you are ok! I seem to be doing well. I have a few aches and pains with my back and leg cramps. But nothing too full on. Have been gettin some tummy cramps in the morning and baby seems to be right up near my ribs so a little uncomfy. Trying not to complain too much becuase so far so good. Probably a bit over being pregnant I reckon. I just cant wait to have her with us now.

butterblocksmom - Thursday, 17 Jan
Hey...ahhh your little pumpkin is so cute!!! If you are having discharge, did you have intercourse last night? That sometimes happens to me....

mcgailz - Thursday, 17 Jan
Hey 9mo just read what you posted. Hope you will be ok, maybe its all the movement down there stirring things up. Let us know how you go!! Take it easy.

mommylaurie - Wednesday, 16 Jan
Actually I can look up the info, but I am a special education teacher and work with these kiddo's after they are born. I just took a class in severe disablitlies and that was actually a big part of the class and how to work to improve it. I tell you, being in that class, pregnant, and 39 was really hard. Have you had an ultrasound...There are markers on the ultrasound that would show either of these disablities. Either way, I have to tell you, with surgery for spina bifida and the way that we work with downs, they are the most loving awesome kiddos in the world. They are incredible. Early intervention is the key!

kim123 - Wednesday, 16 Jan
Hi, my baby has hiccups 3-4 times a day and last about 20 minutes each time. My doctor said it is completely normal.
