Week 37, April 26, Sat

Baby Matthew was born today at 11:52 pm. We came home on Tuesday, April 29.

Week 37, April 23, Wed

Little Matthew has decided to grow slowly... it may be due to school or the the two vesseled chord (rather than 3). midwives said it was not normal, but common, and usualy no problems. As of last week, he was at 4lb and 6 oz rather than 6 lb, so they are thinking of inducing me at 39 weeks, which means that i'll probably miss graduation. school sucks, but i have one more day. (and lots of homework, but that can be done). at my last appointment, which was monday, they told me they want me on bedrest, and my next appointment is friday. i'm definitely nervous now that i know he's so tiny, but i guess as long as he's healthy, he'll be ok. they said that these kinds of babies gain weight fast as soon as they are out, but they don't want him out too early so that his lungs can be strong. next friday is the day they measure him again, and then i guess the teusday after that may be his birthday, depending on his measurements and my cervix. he had the hiccups almost all night this past night. at least its what it felt like....i'm not sure how long and how often, cuz i fell asleep to them, but he had them a lot! i hope thats ok....

Week 32, March 18, Tue

Today I'm officially in the 8th month! Wow... This little boy has never been as active as he has these past 2 days. And at night too. It's like all of a sudden, he never sleeps. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a bit stressed right now or if its because it's week 32. I'm studying an aweful lot right now, because next Tuesday is our written national boards, and that's a big deal...:( I can't wait for that to be over, then I have only one thing to stress over before the baby comes that is not baby related (clincal boards). only 8 more weeks to go!!

Week 30, March 7, Fri

I'm a bit excited today, because I've been feeling fat lately, and my checkup was today, they measured my uterus and said I'm at 29 cm. Which means I'm one cm less than the average. Which means to ME that I'm not fat, and my weight gain is just swelling and fluid. hah! i wish. But it still makes me feel better. Also, they said I've gained 21 lbs. So that's ok too. :) I don't feel fat today. But I probably will tomorrow. lol. Joy of pregnancy.

Week 25

I have finally taken a picture. I dont think I have taken any pregnant pictures and I thought I'd better do that before the baby comes. I put two of the pictures up. Only a little bit more than 3 months left. :) I'm getting anxious to hold him in my arms rather than my belly. I must admit I'm getting a little tired of being pregnant, although I'm not sure if its pregnancy I'm tired of or just college. And I dont like how these Braxton things feel. They don't hurt, but I do think they are very uncomfortable.

Tuesday, Jan 1

I saw my stomach jump today. :) I had been feeling the baby move a lot lately, but I hadn't actually seen it move. It was cute. We were at the New Years church service and he kept jumping around, so I watched my stomach for a sec and I could see the little Bouncer. :)

Wednesday, 26 Dec

We found out today that we're having a boy. :) Everything looked good, but his head was in my pelvis they said, and they couldn't get the measurements of his head, so they put me upside down (almost) and pushed and pushed on me till I was sore (matter of fact, for the whole day, Very sore) till he finally changed his position and they got the measurements they needed. I was happy to know everything was good, but I was still sore lol. We got the cutest picture of him, with a little pout on his face. I would pout too, if I was pushed and tugged to get out of the position I was comfortable in.

Wednesday, 12 Dec
We felt the baby move for the first time last night! I was at the college when I thought I felt something different from before, but I wasn't sure that was it. Then later on, I felt it again, at a bit of a different spot. At home when I was lying down, I felt it a few times within minutes, and my husband really wanted to feel it, but I was afraid the baby was done moving for the night. He put his hand on my belly and waited. I felt something lower than where he was at, so he moved his hand down and waited again. Then we felt the biggest kick I had ever felt! :) :) The expression on his face was priceless, and then he started talking to the baby and telling it how strong it was lol. it was cute.

Hi! Nathan was born Saturday, May 3rd, one day after our anniversary! Pretty close! But I'm glad that he will celebrate his birthday on a different day, so we don't have to decide which one to do that day. Thanks for asking. I will put up his picture and birthstory- hopefully by tomorrow.
Enjoy your son!

Angiepangie - Monday, 5 May
My birth story for my first is long, so I'll try to abbreviate without losing the important parts. I went to the hospital for a NST when I was 8 days post date. My birth plan was for a natural delivery, so I was hesitant to try induction, knowing that inductions often end in c- sections. My son was still at -4 station (still not engaged at all) and my cervix was still closed up tight and long. They reccomended that I at least try cervidil, to soften things up, and maybe push him down a bit with some contractions. So I agreed to it, they put it in, and I went home and had 8 hours of painful contractions, but no progression. I did this 3 more times, at 12 hour intervals, each time with a stronger dose, and each time I had terribly painful contractions for hours, but when I would go in to be assessed, nothing would have happened. After the 4th attempt, coupled with a second sleepless night, I wanted some answers. Thankfully they agreed, and at 10 days post date they gave me an US to figure out what was going on. The results of that ultrasound you know already: he was trussed up like a Christmas turkey! So I was given a few options 1) wait a few more days and see if he untangles himself enough for a vaginal delivery(doubtful at 10 days post date) 2) Admit myself to undergo more induction attempts in a controlled environment, where I could be given emergency care if things started to go badly, or 3) schedule a c-section. I choose the c-section, but since my son was in no immediate danger (except from getting fatter,LOL!) I decided to recover for a couple of days, get some sleep and some food in me, so I would be in better shape to recover after the surgery. So on March 30th, 2003, at 7:11pm, at 12 days post date, I gave birth via a c-section to my 9 lb 2.5 oz. son Douglas. He was 24 inches long...everyone in the surgical suite laughed and smiled at how big he was...I remember my surgeon telling me I made a wise choice having the c-section as he untangled my son and admired his size.(I'm only 5'4" on a good day). Recovery was difficult...my stomach muscles were so distended they offered no support to my back, and Douglas left me with a hernia, but about 3 months later I felt somewhat like my old self again, and the experience has taught me a valuable life lesson that I apparently needed to learn...You can't control everything (an issue of mine), and that this experience doesn't have to define my life...motherhood does that for me. I hope you feel the same.

Absolutely beautiful baby! He's precious and such a gift from God. You are blessed. Congrats to you and your husband.

Angiepangie - Thursday, 1 May
Your gift from god came gift wrapped! Oh my gosh! He is darling! I read your birth story...my first born was 'gift wrapped' also...cord around his neck twice, and a short cord. He came by c-section as well. Hope all goes well with your recovery...I know it can be tuff.

Hey, well this is my third pregnancy and with my first child which he is now 10, I was induced because he was two weeks late. He came out 8pds 8ozs and very healthy! :) My second lil one who is 5 now, was induced because he was already 8pds five days before he was due so they induced me so he wouldn't be to big or come to late and just keep growing. lol He came out to be 8pds 9ozs. lol And since I have a tendency to have big babies, he doesn't want to take a chance with her, and he wants to take her on the 5th of May, but we are going to wait til the 8th. I want it closer to the due date so nothing will be wrong and being a girl this time she is more likely to be smaller than her brothers. (I hope! lol) Anyway, so that's why all the inducements. I do like being at the hospital in time for the epidural, that's a plus, but the wait for the contractions is sooo long. lol But with every kid it gets shorter labor time, so who knows. Hope I answered your question alright, good luck with everything, and just think, not much longer!!! :)

I know my husband thinks I'm losing it ha-ha. Lots of people have said that it's totally normal too so that's good. It's only one of the minor symptoms to toxemia.

thanks for the nice comment. the picture i have up was actually taken one week ago, at 32 1/2 weeks along. yesterday, after i posted the comment about feeling uncomfortable in my baby shower pics, my mom called me after my sis emailed her the pics (she lives across the country and hasn't seen me pregnant) to tell me she can't get over how big i am and how much weight it looks like i've gained. i was so upset! i can't believe my own mom would say that. i'm only 6 weeks from my due date; what should i look like?? a bikini model?! anyway her comments didn't help. luckily i have other people in my life telling me more positive messages. i hope everything is going well with you and your pregnancy, and hopefully we will have healthy babies soon and get back to feeling like ourselves!

I wouldn't have picked the name Heather for our daughter (even though I like it), because it reminded me of someone I went to school with who is having a very sad life. But since I was sure that the Lord put it on my heart, I went with it. I don't think about that friend anymore when I hear 'Heather'. It's just my girl! So you might still be able to do Joshua...
Wow! you'll finish school right on time! It would be nice for you to make it to the graduation...

snowwhite5thbabe - Thursday, 13 Mar
As long as the Dr. thinks the weight gain is fine, it's probably just your body catching up with where it needs to be.
I love the picture of you and your husband. It's funny how black and white can catch your eye, because most everything is in color these days...
What is your major in college? Are you about to graduate, or do you have a ways to go?
Have you picked a name for your son? Or is it a secret?
I think I'm going to change Nathan's middle name AGAIN. I just don't feel settled on Kyle, even though my husband thought it was nice. I actually wanted Elias, I'm not sure why. When I say it by itself, it sounds a little long (which is my husbands opinion, too), but with Nathan it sounds great! Oh well, I'll keep looking, I guess...

yes! i get that feeling too but it's usually when i am in the shower. i think it's because i am getting up to quick out of bed and then jumping into a hot shower before eating and letting my body prepare. hopefully by eating every couple of hours you will start to feel better. good luck!!!

snowwhite5thbabe - Tuesday, 11 Mar
Hi!
Since the hot/cold shaky feeling responded to food, I would think that it's just that your blood sugar got too low. (I have this right now from being pregnant.) You should eat every 2-3 hours. Have whole grains when possible (they will give you energy that lasts longer than white stuff), and try to include some protein at each snack or meal. Avoid concentrated sugar foods, as that can disturb your sugar balance. Good luck with this.
God bless you and your little one!

see ya its soo confusing bec/ i went on the 28th to my appt and my belly was measuring 33 cm and i'll just be 30 weeks tomorro, and i was 6 lbs 15 oz when i was born and daddy was 6 l0 1/2 oz so my doctor said we will have a small baby prob no bigger than 7.5 lbs so who knows lol. i have another appt next thurs so i'll see how that goes.and i feel fat too lol i've gained 24 lbs but i think its bec im short and a lil bit 'meatier' lol than some ppl could be the reason im measuring bigger. but i hope for a small baby too and as my doctor says we should get an average size baby which im happy about!

firstmaybaby - Friday, 7 Mar
i find if i have naps during the day i dont sleep well when its time for i toss and turn all night and hardly get any sleep. so if i cut out my afternoon naps i tend to sleep much better during the night. it seems to be working.

firstmaybaby - Tuesday, 4 Mar
i'm feeling nuch better today i just have a really big bruise on my knee, not attractive at all :( lol. but yes sleep i have been getting, this weekend i didn't have to work at all so i really got 4 days worth of good sleep. im also trying to fade out mynaps during the day as much as possible so im soo tired at night that i dont even want to get up to go to the bathroom unless i really have to, and its been working in my favor so im happy about that! i wish i wa son spring break lol, i can't wait til im done work completley. im going to try and work til may 9th and my due date is the 18th so we'll see if i can make it that far lol. hope your weekend was good too ttys!

firstmaybaby - Friday, 29 Feb
thats good news that you passed!. im doing good i had my thrid u/s today and she was moving lots and that was a good thing to see. the only down fall was when i was leaving the hospital to go home, i was walking through the parking lot and i slipped and fell, mainly on my right knee and my hands but i did hit my belly a lil. i have a huge bruise on my knee that is just throbbing and hurting. so the start of a good day turned out awful for me :( i got home and she was moving so i dont think i caused any trauma to her which is what i was worried about so im thankful for that. so other than my lovely day out today how was yours? what are your plans for the weekend? me im sleeping lol. ttys

firstmaybaby - Wednesday, 20 Feb
lol yes chocolate can be an enemy. im the same way im not to fond of sweets and that but it was weird the morning that i had to go for my glucose test i bought a box of mike and ikes and was eating them. mind you i forgot i had my test that mornig lol and then when i realised i stopped eating them and i ate chinese food an hour before my test and i still passed so i think you should be ok. good luck with it! i have bloodwork to do tomorro and then my blood injections on mon. which im not looking forward doing but i knowi have to do it so thats why im ok with it lol.

firstmaybaby - Monday, 18 Feb
i'll know again what position she's in bec there sending me for a third u/s bec they still didn't get everything they needed for measurements for her heart. in a way im i was scared and worried as to why they were sending me again but my doctor assured me she was ok and that they just want to make sure they get all the still frame photos of everything before she's born. how did your glucose test go? i found out on thurs i passed with a 7.0 so my doctor says that's good i passed it.

firstmaybaby - Friday, 15 Feb
mostly on my left side is where i feel the most movement form her bec her hands and feet are both over there lol. but at night i tend to feel her slightly moving around my belly

firstmaybaby - Wednesday, 13 Feb
i feel great and i thought that everyone around now should but i guess i was wrong lol. i guess were a few of the lucky ones. i feel the same way i just want to hold her and see her. and i just get so excited when she moves around bec it means she's ok and that in just three mths i'll get to meet her!!

firstmaybaby - Sunday, 10 Feb
i actually feel better than i did in the beginning. not every day do i need to take a nap and some days i just dont have time lol. but if i dont have one its not like im complaining in a few hrs that i should have taken them. i agree with the braxton hicks they are uncomfortable for me too. also her bum is up under my ribs lol and that hurts. good luck with your pregnancy!

*~Mommy-2-Be~* - Monday, 7 Jan
