You sound like my older sister. She was the first person I told I was pregnant. She told me to pray about it and ask for guidance. So I am praying hard. I don't think God gave me this as a consequence but a gift. I will place a great deal of thought into this

Hey There, My son slept in his car seat for the first 2 months. It worked great for us. He seems content & cozy.
After that we swaddled him & put him in a bassinet. The swaddling helped ween him off the car seat. I also got the book 'The Happiest Baaby on the Block' Which was great & helpful. Good luck!

CrazyEights - Friday, 6 June
Some doctors are morons. Please don't let him cry for hours. Let him sleep where he's happy for now. I had 2 car seat sleepers. It' snuggly and feels safe. My 2 turned out fine. :) Swaddling is always an option.

Hi honey! don't let that precious baby cry!!! my son would lay on his back until he was 3 months old. until then he slept in his bouncer in his crib or the pack n play by our bed. One day I put him down in his crib for just a sec so I could go pee and when I went to pick him back up he was fast asleep and has slept just fine on his back since.

bevsaphilaphan - Friday, 6 June
did she check his ears, alot of babies have an inner ear problem and the fluid builds u when they are on their back and it hurts, my nephew had to have tubes put in, and screw your ped. you cant let a baby "cry it out" its mean, and im glad you didnt agree with her good luck and keep us updated

newmomcop - Friday, 6 June
i would put a blanket under the mattress...thats what we did and it helped us out a lot...

my son only sleeps in his bouncer or his swing too. he has a crib and a bassinet that he rarely has even used because he hates being flat on his back. the only time he sleeps on his back is when i sleep next to him, and i don't always like doing that. i wouldn't listen to the doctor though.. they aren't always right. they told me to wait four hours to feed my son, when after 2 hours he screams for a bottle. so i'm suppose to let him cry for 2 hours hungry? i've been told to let him cry it out, but if they are crying they obviously need their mom or something's wrong.
what i'm trying with my kid is laying him in his crib or bassinet maybe 10 minutes a day to get him used to it. he's been sleeping in his bouncer for almost a month now lol.
but i wish the best of luck with you!

Hi again- sounds like maybe reflux? That can be a sign, anyway. You can try putting a stiff pillow underneath his crib sheet, so that it is not a smothering worry, yet he is slightly inclined. If it is reflux, this should do the trick. My aunt's baby would only sleep in his car seat, but she felt bad so she put the entire seat in his crib- lol. I wouldn't worry. If the pillow trick doesn't work put the whole seat in there. At least he'll get used to the environment in his room. BTW, did you go to your appt yet? If you did, how did it go?

YolandaLee - Friday, 6 June
Yeah I wouldn't let the poor bub cry it out at all ... some doctrors have no idea !! anyway, have you considered he might have silent reflux? my boy had it and hated to be laid down, he had to have Zantac. Otherwise I have heard that some bubs really do well from chiropractic adjustment cos if birth was difficult something might be slightly out of place making it uncomfortable to lie down. Or he may just prefer the car seat and that's him! If he's happy enough there, no need to change!

Hi there. I was just reading your post on the 3 month board. I see you've got a lot of responses already. I wanted to let you know that you're not alone. My son (now 3 1/2 years) started getting sick from being in day care around 10 weeks old. I kept him in his car seat next to my bed, sleeping at an incline to help his congestion but he really loved it and wouldn't sleep lying down. After he got big enough to roll out of the carseat, I would put the carseat in the bottom of his pack and play to keep him secure. Eventually, he got too big for the seat but he did not have a problem moving to the crib once he could do all the fun baby stuff like rolling over, crawling, etc. Don't worry, your little one will be fine. I would consider looking for another Dr. though. that kind of sleep training is rare and old fashioned. Good Luck to you.

My little girl also sleeps better when on an incline. I think they are just more comfy like that...I know that I would rather sleep with a pillow than without. I went to babies r us and bought an incline thing that goes on top of the mattress in the crib and then u cover it with the mattress sheet. She slept so much better!!! You can also try to just put a pillow under the sheet to make your own incline. I know it worked with my daughter..good luck!

lynna - Friday, 6 June
my son did the same thing... we started then to swaddle him at night... really tight... it worked like a charm but now he won't sleep without being swaddled.... so i don't know if that is really a fix....
