Baby Rose is HERE!

Rose is the most amazing gift I've ever gotten. Russell and I are in love with her and even more in love with each other than ever. She's an amazingly sweet baby and is in perfect health. We couldn't be happier with her.

The following was written during my pregnancy:

December was the happiest month I can ever remember. Russell and I got pregnant, found out, and shared our very happy news with friends and family right away. I was showered with love and congratulations and was downright giddy most of the time. The nausea and exhaustion were more than I ever expected in the first trimester, but I'm still as happy as ever.

It's a girl! Rose Emiliana is due to arrive on August 28th!

The 2nd trimester was great, although I was tired. I was so nice to see my tummy getting rounder...and I got to feel her move every day. She responded to Russell's voice, my students, and avante garde jazz.

When trimester three came, I got so tired. Some days, I slept 20 hours! I thought that this is why people got sick of being pregnant. That was until I got diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. For the first few days, I was so worried, angry, and confused. I couldn't figure out what to do and how to keep Rose safe. Well, within days, I started feeling better. I changed my diet right away, and after consulting with a nurse and dietician, I started being more active. I got a blood meter, and I haven't had one elevated blood sugar since I've started! Yipee. I'm now feeling better than any other part of my pregnancy...excluding the weirdo pains.

Russell and I just finished the nursery. My favorite part was when we created name art for over her crib! Now, we're just waiting to meet baby Rose and take her home.

Just got back from the doc & she did an extra u/s just to see if she was head down etc. I got a great picture of her sucking fluid, naughty girl! Maybe that means she'll be a good eater?
My doc wont check dilation until the 13th & Im totally fine with it. Im enjoying my time at the moment.
Just spoke to Jess & shes 2cm & being induced on Monday! So exciting. Her bp was really high thats why shes being induced. Shes thrilled, & Im thrilled for her but I do worry about the inducing. She is pretty set on no epidural & pitocin makes that really hard. Regardless she will have a beautiful baby boy and all will be perfect!
Like you & Rose i hate malls too. I like small boutiques with cool designers where everything is color coordinated & easy to find. I have sickly expensive taste so I have to be very careful. My absolute favorite website is shopbop.com I do lots of shopping on there. Im obsessed with it actually.
off to acupuncture in an hour. I love it its so relaxing it puts me in a really deep REM state. I just spoke to a girl the other day who did acupuncture to bring it on and went into labor 3 days later and she was only 37 weeks! Im ready but maybe not that ready...

Im envious of your date! Sounds like mexican with a seafood flair, am I right? i love good mexican & I love fish. Russell is adorable!!

I have a big job of thank u cards soon - I ordered some on line that are a combo birth annoucement so I should have them today and hopefully have some time on teh weekend to do them when Chris is arount to help me. C doesnt' nap much during the day either but I'm working on her! Thank GOD our babies are good at night!!! I'll take the nasty days anytime over nasty nights! I wouldn't say I'm doing a great job with the schedule... but every day I try... she doesnt' go to sleep very well on her own so that's what I'm working on.... yawn.. time to feed her! I do have new pics I jsut ahve to get them off the camera hopefully today! xo

Thank you so much for your message, it made me feel better! Im having lots of BH contractions, probably every half hour or so. Did you have lots of them at 36-37 weeks?

I agree about the transition into motherhood being easier than the transition into fatherhood. We have had the time to connect for 40 weeks & they come face to face & bam that's it! Were also expected (mothers & fathers) to connect right away & when that doesn't happen the guilt and confusion sets in. I think Russell is finding it a bit harder than expected. They must feel a bit left out too which is hard. Im sure Charlie will go through similar emotions.

Where are you going on your date? Im so happy to hear he's being tender & loving, you really, really need that to be the best mama you can be. Im going to tell Charlie the same thing about worrying. Thanks for that:)

What are you girlies up to today? i have a doc appt & an acupuncture appt to get things 'happening'...

ahhhh....i understand now. yeah...that is tough for a guy. really. carlos gets down when things get yucky for us financially. we have no saving. thats imposible with 3 kids. lol.

Well today is my first day of maternity leave...and I'm already shopping online!!!

I bought the baker's roller from pampered chef, my lamaze instructor had it as part of her back labor tool kit, and to be honest it was heaven on my lower back.

Saw the doctor on tuesday, i'm 60% effaced. Had a dizzy spell at school yesterday...my blood pressure was high, so i saw the dr. again this morning. It was elevated when I got there--it didn't help that 2 of the roads i needed to get there were closed and i was sent on a wild goose chase detour-- but it came down after a ten minute catnap on the table. Hearing my little guys heartbeat didn't hurt either.

My back is killing me...par for the course

Good news is, my sugars are finally normal "knocks on wood"

awww why is he bein a downer? is he ok? poor guy. plus it doesn't help that you feel all yuck about yourself.
I do have a cool mist vaporizer which the dr told me to get. it's been running for over a week. i can't tell that it really helps. im just praying. ugh

Ohhh the beach spray is the best! Its sea salt spray so it makes your hair look messy, sexy like a day at the beach (but better). makes me want to go out & get some.
I had about 3.5 ounces of wine ( I measured) & I couldn't sleep, it made me feel a bit ill. I usually have about an inch to 2 inches in a glass no more, & as I've learned anything more is no good for us. i feel bad that I've made her sick. Im a bad mommy already:(
The party was great you would have enjoyed it very much & we would have enjoyed you very much! One day we will party in the same room....
I know they don't support gay marriage because uneducated middle america would think it a sin or something so ludacris. Its funny how the "christians" are always the first to judge & be hateful. It kills me.

Are you & Russell okay? Now its Charlie who is worrying! im up early with him because he's been up since 5am worried because of our talk. of course he made me feel better but now its him that worrys. Just cant win

The swing is too strong for him on the lightest setting, so I haven't been using the swing. I will when he is a little more in control of his head and body. It is a swing that changes to a rocker and regular chair for the baby so it grows with him.

I heard you don't have to pump from one glass or one drink. If you get wasted, then yes... pump and dump. Did you ever ask the lactation consultant about that?

Hey Mama! How are things!? How did the sweater work out? We are about to hit the 5 month mark in a few days and I can hardly believe it!! I think we're starting solids next week, I really wanted to wait until 6 months but I think October is ready...lord knows I am, I bought every cute little dish and spoon possible, hee hee. Next month we are going on our first little vacation, I'm excited and nervous...we are heading down to Fremont to stay with my brother in law and sister in law...and guess what?! We are going to IKEA!! yay!! I have tons of stuff picked out online that we are getting, we have to borrow my mother in laws truck to drive down just so we can haul it back up here, ha ha. We are getting a new bedroom set and all kinds of fun things for the baby, cant wait! We might head on down to Santa Cruz to visit my best friend but I'm trying not to overplan because I dont know how October is going to do so we'll play it by ear. Once again, Rose is absolutely gorgeous, I hope your family is doing wonderfully!!!

I love Bumble & Bumble too, especially he beach spray.

I had 4 people over & we had pasta, salad, vino, brownies & cookies. It was delish & I even drank a bit of the wine.
I love the daily show. If you haven't already gathered I'm a serious leftie & hate republican views. I did see the Couric interview it was just a laughing shame. I was quite upset to find out that Obama & Biden aren't for gay marriage.

That's great that you guys don't scream. screaming is sooo upsetting & toxic, I grew up with parents screaming. We don't scream either. I tend to get emotional & cry & Charlie is so smart he always has something logical to add which always pisses me off. He said fuck you to me once but felt so guilty & promised to never do that again. We had a talk about name calling & we both agreed that name calling is below the belt and not okay. I tend to let my emotions get the best of me, it has always how I've operated.
Men are hard work & no matter what their age they are like little boys that need tending. They can be exhausting & I can imagine how trying it must be to have to take care of everybody. I will soon learn. Women do much more that is a fact.
I also think that men start to feel left out after the baby arrives & become more needy.

We just had a talk about money & Charlie put my fears to rest. Growing up poor like me has given me such poverty & money issues that he just doesn't have. Im so glad that we have that balance. I feel a million times better now.

Just hosted a debate party & had lots of food. I LOVE Biden he is so knowledgeable! I really despise Palin but I thought she did okay considering what an offensive bumbling moron she is.

i got it at MAcy's for $10! she actually wore it for me to take that picture and thats it, i find it hard to do things with her when shes in a dress, like i hate how they ride up... so i took alot back and she still has alot, but for when she's in bigger sizes she only has a couple, she has soooo many winter clothes but idk if she's going to fit into them!!!!!!!!! she's still on 0-3, 3m, and her winter stuff is 6m.... oh boy...
