Little Baby Lucia came into the world Feb 2 2008 at 5:07 am
53 cm long and 8lbs 8 oz in weight.
Birth Story:
To all the ladies who are still waiting for their overdue babies note to self: BE ASSERTIVE not pressured.
After a week of 2 false alarms, pains during the night, during the day, two drs appointments where she told me the standard is waiting 2 weeks overdue before inducing I had had enough.
Feb 1 2008, we had a huge snow storm (benefit when going to have a baby) hospital rarely send you home because of the what if option.
I went in with my partner at 1:00pm in the afternoon. My pains were stronger but no labor pains i just couldn't manage the idea of staying one more day in that unconfortable situation.
I went to hospital and they sent me to walk for about two hours in the hallsway, which i did and everytime i came back to the L&D ward they told me i could go home. NOPE that wasnt going to happen.
I was having my baby whether they liked it or not.
I mentioned to every nurse and r who came to look at me that just a week prior I did an ultrasound and she was showing to be 9lb 7 oz and a huge head. Something that I was concerned about because I really didnt think I could deliver a baby that big naturally.
They kept on telling me they have seen women have babies who are 11 lbs etc deliver naturally. GOOD FOR THEM but I knew I couldn't.
After another 8 hours in L&D general ward I finally got a room, and being 3-4 dilated I was given the labor inducing drug to start the labor and the brave girl I was I siad no drugs....>>>> hahaha ya right that changed after 4 hours of intense pains and little to no dialation I took the epi.
Then another several hours later, epi was to the max, I was having emmense back pain still, no dialation they came in and told the news that I was praying for.
It looks like you have to have a c-section. The babies head wasn't going down because it WAS TOO BIG. TOO BIG for my pelvic bone...duhhhhhhh that is what I was telling them from the beginning.
I looked at my partner Serge...gave him a huge high five and said give me the papers to sign.
The dr was a little shocked to my reaction and wanted to let me know that it was major surgery...blah blah blah.....just give me the papers. I wanted a c-section from the beginning but because of this thing drs have to promote natural birth I was pushed to have it naturally.
AGAIN....be ASSERTIVE not PRESSURED.
At 4:30 in the morning I went into the operating room. was given more drugs and heard them say wow we have to pop her out llike champagne she is stuck in your pelvic bone and I literally heard (or imagined ahaha) the popping sound.
That is when I saw my little girl, Lucia and passed out.
The next thing I remember is being woken up by Serge telling me to look at the baby and feed her. I didnt know where I was don't even remember seeing her but just remeber the feeling when she latche don without a problem and started to suck. The most amazing feeling the world.
Now we are at home, she eats like a pro, doesn't cry unless she really needs something and sleep beautifully during the night. I can vaccuum in the same room watch tv, listen to music you name it she is used to it.
The c-section scar looks like someone took a pencil and made a line on my skin. I am no longer in pain (thanks t-3) and I have lost over 15 lbs in a week. 9lbs being Lucia.
Good luck to all mommies and mommies to be, you lives will never be the same.
A cheeky little bugger :-))) that or the OJ I drank just before wasn't his/her cup of tea
