Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. ~Elizabeth Stone

About me.....

Hello ladies.......I'm 27 years and living in Australia. My husband and I were married almost 3 years ago. I am currently pregnant with a single wonderful active little boy....we were lucky to find out his gender as early as 16 weeks!

We lost a previous baby when I was 24 weeks due to Placentile deficiancy...we took a long time to heal. A year after losing Zach (our first baby boy) we started to try again. Nothing was happening...and after a year sped by us, and I was not pregnant we knew it was time to talk to the specialists.

We were recommended onto Pivet medical centre in Perth Western Australia. It was discovered I had Poly Cystic Ovaries (not the syndrome lucky enough)..which explained the struggle falling pegnant. I was put on a few cycles of Ovulation Induction, one of which worked but it was termed as a "Chemical Pregnancy"and it didn't last. We ended up making the big decision to have IVF, they took 5 eggs, 4 of them succesfully made it to Blastocyst stage. One egg stood out amongst the rest...this was to become the baby boy resting in my belly. I was only allowed the one egg, as a multiple pregnancy was a huge risk, so we decided to freeze the rest.

Here I am today at 22 weeks!! The doctors have given us a 95% chance of making it to 32 weeks!Hooray...this is like a dream pregnancy to me, everything has gone relativly smooth so far! Except the discovery of a Cervical Polyp which causes me to bleed randomly, and a Yeast infection....but these are not threatning to the baby! Our little boy is sooooo strong, he is in the 70%growth percentile.....maybe we will have a big baby in our hands hehe. I have quit work and am at home, we decided I should take it easy to give this baby every fighting chance...and to really concentrate on my health. I am feeling a bit house bound but it certainly makes it easier to attend all the extra checkups we have with our Specialist, without having to annoy staff and bosses, I do miss work though. I was going to our High risk Dr evey 4 weeks, now its about every 3 weeks as I am approaching the gestatation we lost our first baby. The team at the Clinic are fantastic and very supportive, they offer free councelling...the works, and we will be having extra ultra sounds...not only to check the babies and Placenta's growth but so we get to have that magical look at our baby wriggling around...that always seems to de-stress us! I have put on 6-7kg so far...a couple kilos over
target...feel like a whale...but its all worth it.

Yuck, I fainted for the first time in my life yesterday...pretty scary! I was at the Postal Office and the line was huge..I was about 3/4 of the way when I started feeling Nauseas and dizzy, then I remember thinking I hope I don't faint because it will be embarrasing. Next thing all goes fuzzy and I wake up dazed and confused hunched on the floor leaning on some strange guy who was helping me. He kept saying something to me but I couldn't make it out so I said "I think I'm going to faint", not knowing I already had, he just replyed "you did faint, can I call someone for you"...so after I got all my senses back I called my Husband and made and an appointment to see the Doctor, all is fine with baby and me...he said I just need to take it easier and eat many small meals throughout the day and plenty of fluids. The faint was most likely brought on by low blood pressure, spurred on by the big walk I did. So make sure you ladies rest yourselves...

30 Weeks! Can't believe we are here! We have gone through a lot of grief to get to this stage! Since my last update a lot has happened as we almost had to induce the baby at 28 weeks. It started with a usual Ultrasound, where it was discovered our little man was slowing down with his growth and that he was growing in the low 15 percentile. A couple days after this was discovered I woke up at 2.15am to take one of my many usual nightly toilet trips...to discover that I was bleeding rather heavy. I woke my Husband and we rushed around shoving stuff into an overnight bag and sped to the Emergency at the Hospital where I am booked in to deliver the baby. They placed me on Foetal Monitoring for an Hour but our little Jacob seemed oblivious to all the fuss and was his usual active self. They checked me in and my Specialist Doctor was called and he payed me a visit later in the morning to access the situation. There were two possible culprits regarding my bleed.....my Cervical Polyp, which upon examination looking very red and angry, and my Low lying Placenta (typically known as slight Placenta Previa)....basically they never did determine where the blood actually came from. So he recommended I stay in Hospital a further night and have another Ultrasound to look at my Placenta and the baby’s growth again. If he showed little sign of growth he would administer Hormones to develop Jacob's lungs and induce him! Luckily enough he had showed a slight improvement and I was sent home to bed rest for the weekend. One day later we rushed back to Hospital after another bleed, but didn't have to stay overnight again thankfully. We were booked in for another Ultrasound four days later and Jacob had improved again. So we were very lucky and we may just make it full term after all. And so....I am feeling like a whale and am really tired of my limited Wardrobe by now! Sleep is getting harder as I am cramping up and waking every few hours, and getting back to sleep always proves to be an issue. I have put on 13kg so far.....not long to go though! I can't wait to meet our Son; it will be for sure, the best moment in my life!

How do heavily pregnant women sleep? This past week I have been in training for the sleepless nights of breast feeding LOL, my Ribs feel like as if they have been cracked (my Doctor said basically its my Uterus expanding and putting pressure on my ribs), it’s a struggle to breath, I barely fit into anything anymore and Stomach acid constantly eats away my throat!!! Oh the joys of the Third Trimester. But it’s all worth it! Especially when you find out everything with your baby is going fine! We went to our Specialist this week and our little Jacob is doing well, he is in the 17th percentile but at least his measurements and growth is progressing. We are not sure whether or not I will have a C section, but we will have a clearer picture in 2 weeks when I see my Dr again, he will check to see if my Placenta has moved up….hopefully as I would love a natural birth, but I won’t take the risk if it hasn’t. I start my antenatal classes soon! Yay! Well not too much longer to go till we have our little man….hopefully time speeds up LOL!
