I take tums for heartburn and it goes away pretty quick. My doctor gave me a list of safe medications to take when pregnant and for heartburn it says you can take any antacid EXCEPT PEPTO BISMOL!! So don't take that at all during your pregnancy. I hope this helps :)

Hi, I saw your post about your heartburn on latest comments. I am from week 14, nearly 15, and I am suffering terrible indigestion/heartburn everyday! I too am seeing my doctor on Tuesday and plan to ask him if he can prescribe anything as it is making me sick and causing me to vomit almost daily. I just wanted to know if you could share the outcome of your visit and what your doctor suggests, as I cant stand the sickness anymore, and will do anything. Those chalky tablets from the chemist are doin NOTHING if not making it worse! Any suggestions welcome! Kindest regards, Tracy.

Hi there, my name is Alicia also...but spelled differently. ;o) Congrats on your pregnancy! I recently have gotten heartburn and it feels like a fire in my chest. It doesn't go away either, until I take Tums. They work so well. I usually eat about 3-4 of them. The added benefit is that the Tums have calcium in them. I hope this helps, take care....
