Allie08, I have been doing both since Matthew was 4 weeks old... just use bottles with wide nipples (like Avent) . Now I am back to work and I pump during the day (he takes bottles) and breastfeed evenings/mornings/weekends. Baby doesn't have confusion or anything

AlyEwing-Ball - Sunday, 20 July
my daughter feeds from both breast and bottle. she's 7 weeks on tuesday. however, i agree with milmom2be, you may have difficulty getting your daughter to feed from a bottle at her age. My health visitor advised that once I started Cerys on a bottle to ensure she got one every 3-4 days - to make sure she doesn't forget how to take it - seemingly they can. she also suggested that i shouldn't leave it too long either though for the same reason. Cerys takes from the breast or the bottle no problems and I pump and freeze some everyday as I don't intend to be breastfeeding when I go back to work anyway. good luck though!!! xxx

She will want to eat just as often from a bottle as from the breast, and the real difficulty you are going to have is getting her to take a bottle at her age. Evangeline was 3 weeks when we tried to start her, and it took 5 different kinds of bpttles to figure out what she liked! I pump enough for th 3 bottles she will take while I'm at work, and she understands that food comes from two different means, she has never had nipple confusion, it works well for us!

My son does both pumped bottles and breast since he was 4 weeks old, no problem so far. If you need more milk, getting up at night when baby skips feeding helps

Allie - A lot of women successfully bf and bottle feed breast milk. I know a woman Bri on here has been doing that since she went back to work full time when her son was 3 mo old. My son currently goes to daycare from 8am to 4 pm every Mon - Fri and gets breast milk in a bottle there and has been doing this for about 2 months. It is very possible. The things that i did that i think helped were 1. I wasn't the person to give him the bottle. 2. When i can i always bf. 3. I have certain times of the day that i pump that are off his normal schedule so that i can insure that i get milk every day (including on the weekends when he is with me). He nurses at 3 pm, solids at 5:30 and then nurses for bed at 7pm. I always pump when he gets solids at 5:30. I also always pump before his morning feed as well. Every day. that way i can keep my milk supply up. That is what I think a lot of women find when they start pumping vs bf is that they have a harder time with supply. if supply isn't an issue for you then pumping wouldn't be either. though if you are doign this for more than just the sometimes i need a break bottle, then you might want to look into an electric pump. I hope this made sense! Enjoy your break!!

hey there!!
great idea for the sling....but...I can't find/remember the directions you gave..lol

Can you explain it again in detail on my page?.....(mommy brain...lol)

Thanks!!

what i did: start a photobucket account on photobucket.com...then, after you log in, there is a box that says upload images and video, then below that it has a little "thingy" that says reduce to: make sure you click the arrow and select medium. then you click the " choose files " and it will lead you to finding your pic on the computer...pic your pic, download, then when it is downloaded copy and past the html code and paste it in the comment box. Hope this wasn't too confusing..it's quite a process!

Do you have any pics of the sling? Sounds like a great idea

My son is three months and I tkae him in the pool sometimes. I just make sure that I am keeping his head up high so there is no way to get water in his ears. It is too hot where I live! But I dont keephim out there for long.

hey, i teach swim lessons to babies on up. You can take your baby swimming anytime, Reese and I have been in the pool a ton and she loves it, no life vests yet, just your arms and attention. Usually life vests aren't recomended til closer to one. As for ear infections, just try to avoid ears in the water and if they go in just use a towel to dry them out when you get out. I always use a big hat and sunscreen on Reese too. Plus, she always naps great after some time splashing around in the pool.

Good Morning! I bought a noggin nest- it's made by boppy- I didn't know that. I used it this morning in the car seat and it seems to fit her head well :) I wouldn't use anything at night---too risky...it's funny I also got the blue denim it was cheaper! What the heck Anyways thanks so much for the information and I hope this helps her little head...I will let you knwo as soon as she has her catscan- I am sure everything is fine, but we will see.

Allie08-thanks so much for your response. I am guilty if not enough tummy time. As Addy Hates it so it's usually about 10 min. 2-3 times a day, maybe I should do more. Interesting about the neck muscles. I really do believe it will form back to normal, it's not that bad of a flat spot. A Nogin nest! hmm... do you think it's helping?? I was thinking about a memory foam pillow or something while she naps and gets changed and fed. I understand your concern- I will let you know as soon as Addy's catscan is scheduled!

Hello. I still have mood swings I get irriated over anything, and I cry over the dumbest things. I also am getting lots of ance and my hair is falling out to the point I swear I won't have any left if it continues. But of course this is all normal are hormones are still trying to get back to normal and it takes a while. They say just like it takes 9months to concieve a child it takes 9 months to get back to normal again. Thats why they say to wait at least 10 months before trying for another one..

jscottn401 - Thursday, 10 July
this might be really weird lol i read that if u eat an advacado a week it will help u shed unwanted birth weight and regulate ur hormones u can google it to bc its on there but gl

Yes lots of cute noises here too!

Her sleeping has been horrible the last few weeks. She is up every 1 1/2-2 hours at night! She didn't even do that as a newborn, it's like she is going backwards, I don't get it!

Yay for anniversaries! What did you guys do? It was so hard to plan anything with the baby. My mom came up and watched her for the day and we went to the beach and to Sausalito for shopping! Very relaxing! Was this your first anniversary as well?

carlsonlove757 - Friday, 4 July
Hopefully there won't be anymore fires with the 4th of July and all. Phoebe is such a cute name. Has she started to roll over yet? My little one isn't, but I have heard that they can, so I try to work with her and help her and she tries, but no such luck yet! I haven't even got her to laugh yet! Almost, she just screams and kicks like crazy!

carlsonlove757 - Wednesday, 2 July
Yeah, I wish! It seems to be getting better. It's not as smokey.

How is your little one doing?

Kenny Logins puts out a great luliby CD. Never mind, just noticed someone else posted that..Ha ha...It's probably one of the best ones out there...You'll find your self humming the songs all day long.

Tiffanymommyto4 - Monday, 30 June
Kenny Loggins--Return to Pooh Corner is the BEST lullaby CD!!! I love it just as much as my older kids did ;-) I hadn't even thought about getting it for my lil man but now I'll have to run out and get one...

carlsonlove757 - Saturday, 28 June
Hi I just noticed your post on the 3 month page and you are from Northern Cal. Just wondering from where? I am in Sonoma County.

Camryn Jewel - Thursday, 26 June
I have an air purfier running all day for my little ones lungs... that may help with the smoke

indianmom - Tuesday, 24 June
Yes he isdoing fine with the dispo ones. I am just worried that I am not inviting a diaper rash as i read a couple of articles which were totally against the use of dispo diapers. Anyways, thanks for your views :)

I highly recommend the Eurobath by Primo. I have been using it for my 3 1/2 month old son and he loves it. Its got two sides, one for babies upto 6 months and another side to use when they can sit up on their own. Its available in Babies R Us and costs $25. The specifications say it can be used upto 2 years! Check it out.

collsbaby - Monday, 23 June
I have a tub I got from K-Mart. It's a white plastic Pooh tub and the baby is in a hammock type thing until they can sit up. It's about 20 bucks and it works great. When the baby can sit you take off the Pooh hammock and they sit in the tub.
