~We're expecting our 2nd child (A Boy) February 10, 2009~
Hello! My name is Sharla and I am currently pregnant. My husband and I have been married for 6 years as of December 2008. He is one of the most important people in my world. He is a truly good man, husband and father. We have a 3 year old daughter who is the most special child that has ever stepped on earth. (a bit biased) We were in the military and recently got out, but he still works overseas. He came home for an r/r for 3 weeks and we had been trying for months to become pregnant, but he is only home so many times a year. Well my dr. said that the odds were NOT in our favor because of many normal barriers. Well she was wrong...we became pregnant. So this baby was meant to be. Our daughter is so excited to become a big sister, she is so motherly right now. She will be great at it. She also starts school in Sept. (along with mommy) I cant believe she is getting so big! Well I love this site because their are so many supportive people on this site. I actually look forward to checking my page daily. Thank You to everyone who has been a part of my pregnancy!
Hilary-n-Tremayne - Monday, 29 December we personally will not let our kids play with them.
Hilary-n-Tremayne - Monday, 29 December i just hope it is a boy..omg i don't know what the heck i would do with another girl! lose it! ha ha. i went today to my appt and got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. it was 175bpm. i thought that was high. my girls were always higher and my boy was always lower so... i just gotta hope for my boy. i go march 3rd to see what i am having so i am trying to "patiently" wait til then...it's hard! i wanna know now!
TheMommyOfAngels - Monday, 29 December 35 week belly pic up! -if i make it to my c-section date... theres 3 weeks 3 days left...
im tryin 2 get em out about a week before tho. lolz... xoxo to all!
bstarr413 - Monday, 29 December YAY i know I am not 20 weeks yet but i put ANOTHER picture up (i know, annoying, lol) but really I think I am getting bigger. If you saw me before you would be able to tell because well all my friends can but ya, YAY! Take a look and tell me what you think :)
Baby1onitsway - Monday, 29 December i think as long as the child knows the difference, its ok. for example, my little cousins have their toy guns they play with and then they go hunting with all the family and they know there are REAL guns that can relly hurt people unlike the ones they play with. my uncle taught them that the only "gun" they are EVER allowed to touch are their toy guns. that if they ever were to come across a gun in someones house or whatever that they are absolutely not allowed to touch it because they are dangerous and can really really hurt someone or themselves. so they know the difference and i think as long as your honest and let the kid know that then i think its ok that they play with toy guns.
misz-cashis-oct08 - Monday, 29 December i would let my son play with toy guns like the nerf guns when hes young but i dont really like the ones that actually look like real guns. they can confuse a kid especially if u have a real gun in the house. but i think the nerf or water guns are ok
babymomma67 - Monday, 29 December i pretty much agree with you completely, but its hard for me sometimes cause i remember playing with my brothers and cousins we would play our game called "guns" lol but it was just pretty much me pretending to be a princess who has been captured and the boys have to come save me and have to use their guns..i always liked playing that game as a kid..but we were also around 10-12 years old at that point, we werent allowed to play with guns before that age and we were not at all allowed to point them at anyone, we got into HUGE trouble if we pretend to shoot each other or someone else..so i think that makes a big difference. I am having a boy so i guess this is something i should be thinking about...i already told my man that the violent war video games and shooting video games are not ok with me at all. i just dont like it...im against war for one, and i think its kind of sick honestly to play those games. But im also pretty much against letting him play video games at all..if he does play video games it will be a small amount, i remember we would play video games at night before bed or if it was raining and other than that we were always outside playing in the dirt or in the creek..but these days kids sit and play video games for hours at a time every day! And because of this they are over weight and lazy..im pretty afraid of this, but my man agrees with me luckily because he has a little brother that is always glued to the tv at all times playing his video games..so im happy we agree on that, now i just need to talk to him about this toy gun issue.
lilmissk - Monday, 29 December No, they are definitely not weird! There is truly no positive to them, so my household can do without them.
When I was younger I wanted a water gun like one of my neighbors had. I realized later though that I had just as much fun running through the sprinkler or playing with water balloons. Because of this I know that my children won't need a toy gun whether it looks like a real one, or it's just a huge water gun.
lilmissk - Monday, 29 December I truly understand! I like the way I was raised in regards to guns so I won't change it. My daughter can play with lots of toys once she is born, but I will not allow her to have toy guns. No one needs to grow up thinking guns are just fun toys.
lilmissk - Monday, 29 December You and I share very similar views on guns and children!
babymomma67 - Monday, 29 December ok well i just went to my doctor today and as i was suspecting and as most of you also had expected i have dropped for sure!!! Woohoo!! I had noticed last night when i was looking in the mirror that my belly seemed lower, im certain it happened during the time i was in my home town for Christmas...my doctor checked my cervix and said his head is way down there but i am still not dilated yet :( but she said since he just dropped that by my next appointment there will probably be a difference. I got my strep b test done..lets hope that comes back normal!!! Anyway, just thought i would let you know that all of you ladies were right, i did drop woohooo!!!
lilmissk - Monday, 29 December Toy guns were not allowed in my house when I was younger, and they will not be allowed in my house for my children either. I, like you, fear that my children will confuse a real gun with a toy gun.
I have nothing against guns. I go to a gun range often and have shot numerous things from a .22 to a 12 gauge. I want my children to know how to use a gun (not early though) so they know how to be safe with them, but I don't want a child to ever think a gun is a toy.
taelynnzmommy - Monday, 29 December Thanks for your response to my blog =] I get so frustrated with hims sometimes, We ended up having a long talk last night and I think he understands how he makes me feel now, so im going to give him the opportunity to improve himself.lol. As for the gun thing that is a very good question. I think most little boys want a "toy gun" at some point.. I don't know if I would or Wouldn't let my son(if I ever have one LOL) have a toy gun... Im definitely going to have to go check out answers on your profile! this is a very interesting question..
kellyk - Monday, 29 December ahhh, thats a tricky one... I suppose if it was a super soaker or one of those nerf things that in no way resembles a real gun I would allow it.. However, nothing else... I think kids she be taught at a young age how seriously dangerous guns can be.. They shouldn't be treated lightly.. Plus, with schools having a zero tolerance policy for guns (both toy and real) it would be awful if my kid snuck a toy gun to school and got expelled....
mummy23 - Monday, 29 December Im the same, I would not let my son (when his older) play with toy guns, im OTT on safety and i worry like mad so i wouldnt let him play with them. theres to many freak accidents plus there so dangerous... I hope that helps? x
LilMamaJade - Monday, 29 December I hope I aint got this twisted and know what ur talking about. I'd say yeah tho... Why not?! I was wondering the same thing a while back but was too embarrased to ask. lol.. Ya know, I slept for like 24 hrs yesterday... I feel like crap for it. I was soooo tired though. Anyway, lemme know what ur doctor says!! Haa!
Lexibuggsmommy - Monday, 29 December I posted some Christmas pics in a blog, and added more pics to her "2month old pics" blog..if anyone gets bored : ) Hope everyone is doing well and had a safe and happy holiday!
mistyns - Monday, 29 December Well, we have three boys and they love to play with swords and guns. It is part of their nature. They know the difference between what is real and what is not because they are educated on it. But, my husband and I see no harm in them playing and having fun. They never are violent and basically just act out their favorite characters like the Hulk, Spiderman, Army Men, etc...
melissa0406 - Monday, 29 December Never. Or video games involving such. The purpose of guns is to protect or kill. A child confuses the terms and I just dont see why its necessary when there are a million other toys out there. At a certain age they should be educated on what guns do in case they were to be at someone elses house and come across one, but i think play guns take the seriousness out of it.
Hilary-n-Tremayne - Monday, 29 December oh yeah! i totally agree. i love the name Aiyana too. i was actually considering that for this one if it's a girl, but my bf knows someone with a daughter named that. we are really hoping for a boy though.
