Hello I'm Amanda- I'm pregnant with my first child due August 21st 2008. We found out April 14th 2008 that we are having a son. Which is name will be Zephan Lee. He was 14oz and his heart was the size of a quarter. I was just so happy when I found out I was pregnant. Then to go to the OBGYN for the first time and hear his little heartbeat at just 9 weeks was a tear jerking moment. Now I'm 23 weeks and my little guy just kicks and moves often. I can remember being 18 weeks and wondering when I would feel him move. When I started to feel the movement I was so happy. Although I'm told that when he gets bigger I'm not going to like the movement. I honestly don't know about that. I'm happy to feel my guy moving and being active. I know right.....after birth is just as awful. Mine lasted 4 hours after being induced! Not long at all.....i have more pictures up of him now if you wanna see....your baby is so cute!

WOW!! I am so excited for you! Everything will go fine, surely!! A friend of mine kind of went through this the same way - they gave her the thinning gel and waited to put her on pitocin the next morning, and she had her little girl by 1:30 that afternoon! The epidural actually sped it up for her. I will be thinking of you and your little man!! Hurray!

Any news on the induction? My doctor won't do anything. So I get a prescription for Ambien (why I don't know because I am not having trouble sleeping) and get to wait until 8/18 for my Csection.

Hi Amanda26! I was wondering just wondering how high your blood pressure reading was at your last visit. My blood pressure has trended up from 120's/70's to 130's/80's. I am going to see my MD today who may put me on bed rest until the 14th. It is normal to have some slight elevation in your blood pressure in the 3rd trimester because of excess fluid retention. I'm not happy about the fact of going on bed rest though because I want to spend as much time with my baby before I have to return to work. 16weeks seems like a long time for maternity leave, and I know it is going to fly by. I am scheduled to have c-section on the 14th because the baby hasn't turned. I didn't want to chance the whole external version thing - heard it's too uncomfortable and the chances of turning the baby are 50/50. Anyways, good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy!!

unfortunately, not yet! I wish. went to the hospital with regular contractions, but they didn't progress anything. they were hurting so bad! they gave me some pain medication and sent me home. I am hoping my doctor will do something this week, because no way can I physically take this for another 2 weeks!

It could be the office policy or something. My doc office doesnt schedule C-sections until week 39, and won't do them before week 38 unless you show up at the hospital in labor and absolutely have to have one. So maybe it's the same with induction - maybe they can't schedule it until a certain week but will go ahead and do it if they can show enough cause! Fingers crossed~

Went back to the doc yesterday - fully effaced and dilated almost to a 3 (she said she can 'make' it a 3 but she won't consider it 3 until it is on it's own). She also said she could feel the bag of water. Come on out Baby!~~

I HOPE THAT IS THE CASE WITH ME TOO. I WENT TO THE DR MONDAY AND I WAS NOT DILATED AT ALL AND I CRIED. BUT MAYBE SINCE THIS HAS STARTED THEN SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED SINCE HE CHECKED ME. THANKS FOR REPLYING AND GOOD LUCK WITH THE LAST FEW WEEKS!! YEAH!

i know, it sucks living in the US for things like that. u get automatically paid one year in almost all the places thruought europe. i think they understand a little more what its like to leave a little baby. u need time to bond more than just a couple weeks. hopefully u have family or something to leave the baby with. i always waited till the baby was like 10 months at least before going back to work, even if it broke us. i am so paranoid. well good luck with everything
