I have a wonderful fiance, Mike. We've been together for 14yrs. Together we have adopted 2 of the most beautiful girls. We are foster parents so we are also raising a 2yr old baby girl and a 16yr old boy.

2006 was our first time to try for a baby (and got pregnant first month trying) but I miscarried at one day shy of 12 weeks.

This is our first try since the miscarriage... and just like last time I got pregnant the first month trying. I'm evidently a very fertile person just need a little help keeping it going. My fiance just wants a healthy baby but I really want a boy. There's plenty of pink in my laundry, I need a little blue to break it up.

I'm due around July 27, 2008.

11-22-07: Told my side of the family I'm just now pregnant. It was my Mom's 60th birthday and Thanksgiving Day so it was all extra blessed. Oh, and for you history buff's my Mom turned 16yrs old the day President Kennedy was killed.

12-4-07: First u/s. Baby Speck is very small but the perfect size for as early in the pregnacy that I am. Wahoo... there is only one!

12-16-07: We told my fiance's side of the family. They were so excited. I guess they started figuring we would never try to have a bio-child. Most of them didn't know about last year's miscarriage. I explained we are telling everyone early in the pregnancy because we need positive vibrations and less stress. It's too stressful to me to keep such happy news to myself!

12-24-07: Note to self "Mike is no longer allowed to eat any foods with beans... the gas makes me throw up".

12-25-07: The rest of the fiance's family have finally been told. I loved their response. It's so wonderful to get such excited and happy responses... it just makes it feel all that more wonderful! With so much positive energy this pregnancy has got to succeed!

1-2-08: Today I heard the baby's heartbeat, a strong 160+. I was also set up to have some further testing on January 17 because I'm of "advanced maternal age" and a high risk due to prior m/c. At this time everything looks great.

1-17-08: The Sequential Screening was completed today which included a sonogram. There was my little baby, arms and legs moving around. I was mimicking the baby and said "oh look, he's waving at me" to which the tech said "he can't see you"... I got to laughing so hard she lost the picture!

1-23-08: Could it be... was that slight fluttery/tickly feeling the baby, I think so!

1-24-08: Met with OB Dr. All screenings so far show a very healthy pregnancy. Gained 1lbs... shoot, hoping to put off gaining for another couple of weeks. 152bpm, sounded great to me!

2-15-08: I KNOW I felt the baby. It was just like the last time but much more obvious. Still feels fluttery/tickly but it's more noticeable.

2-21-08: Today baby is moving, moving, moving, I feel a tickly feeling often. It's the greatest. Now if the headaches would just go away.

2-26-08: It's official... it's a BOY!!!!

3-25-08: It was confirmed our baby boy has a Left Club Foot issue. We won't know until he's born exactly how bad the deformity is.

6-19-08: Hiccup, hiccup, hiccup. Today I finally figured out the "heartbeat" feeling I get every now and then is my little boy hiccuping!

7-8-08: Today I had my first exam to see if I'm getting close to delivery. Nothing, nada, zilch. No dilation, no effacement, cervix hard, baby high. I'll be pregnant forever.

I posted some new pictures on my page of his foot before treatment and now at 8 months, as you can see its perfect! He uses it properly and you would never know it was clubbed. The first few months is very emotionally draining but in all reality when you look back on it, it wasnt so bad. My son also had dilated brain ventricles along with his club foot so we were so worried that there was something else wrong and that there was some sort of anomoly associated with both of those things. By the third trimester his ventricles had corrected and thankfully he was only born with his club foot. I would recomend the ponsetti method as opposed to the surgery, it is certainly alot more responsibility on the parents behalf but in the long run children treated with ponsetti have no problems with aching feet later on in life. Any questions or concerns, i will glady answer!

Hi there. Just saw your post about your baby who has a left club foot and thought I would offer some expertise on the subject..hehe. My son was born with a left club foot. He was born in september and he is now 8 months old and his foot looks TOTALLY normal! You would NEVER know he had a club foot. The ponsetti method in my opinion is far superior to any others I have researched. My son had 6 weeks of serial casting. After the first few casts his foot was stretched right back into position. After the six weeks most babies will need a tenotomy to lenthen the tendons and allow for a complete correction. Luckily my son did not need this. He tolerated the casts very well, didnt even seem to notice. The first was hard on us because really who wants to see a baby in a cast right? But after that they were a breeze. He still fit in regular clothing and sleepers and bathing was a little tricky but other then bath time the casts were very easy. After the casting was done he moved onto the boots and bars... not the greatest experience in the world but we did it! He wore them for 23 hours a day for three months straight. The first week was HELL!! He hated them, and we didnt know how the heck to put them on, but again... after he got used to them, they were a part of his routine and all he really knew. He did get the occasional blister but other than that and the annoyance of having to put them on so often... they got to be fairly tolerable as well. And I have to make a confession... I did not keep them on the full 23 hours but I also didnt know that a babies foot could relapse. Had I known this then I certainly would have been more obedient with the shoes. Luckily he didnt have a relapse and after a great three month checkup we moved to just wearing the shoes at night. He just had another checkup last week and his foot is fabulous. It is not smaller, his calve is not smaller, it is a regular, properly functioning foot, that just happened to be a little curled up at birth. Dont let the fact that your son will have a club foot scare you, compared to other things ... its certainly one of the most correctable and managable. My son has hit all his milestones on time and is even standing up and using his foot properly. If you need any support or advice dont hesitate to ask. I would also send you some pictures of his foot before and after if you would like. Congrats on your pregnancy!
