My husband and I have been together since 1989... my soul mate! We were married in 1996, and after a difficult last month of pregnancy, culminating in 4 induction attempts, and a subsequent c-section at 12 days post date, we were blessed with our son Douglas on March 30th, 2003. After such a difficult birth experience and nursing not going the way I had planned (I ended up pumping breast milk for 12 MONTHS!) , we both decided that we were done having children, (I was already 32, and I couldn't imagine dealing with a teenager in my 50's!) Fast forward 41/2 years, we were where we wanted to be... home , car and I was looking into furthering my education since my son was now in school, ( I had been working full time prior to my sons birth, and chose to ' retire' temporarily to raise my son... another full time job!). I had been charting my menstrual cycles since 1992, when I decided to stop taking the pill, and that method for me worked flawlessly. I know not everyone has success with the rhythm method, but we were always careful, backing up with another method (condoms, sponges) on days that were risky. The end of November comes and I don't feel right... I wasn't late yet, but after you've used charting for birth control for 15 years, you get to really know your own body. So on a whim I go and buy a pregnancy test... knowing it will come back negative of course, but wanting to ease my mind about things ( I had done this a couple of times in the past 15 years, and they always came back negative). So rather than do the test at home, I decide to go to the nearest store with a public bathroom, I figured the sooner I get the thought out of my mind, the better. Well imagine my surprise when I get a big pink + sign. Being the logical ' in the know ' person I am, I knew there are NO false positives on pregnancy tests. I was pregnant! So I laughed, shook my head, and drove home to tell my hubby. I found him just about to take a shower ( it was still early on a Saturday) . I said through the bathroom door " I've got something you should see." Then I scooted the test under the door. I heard him pick it up, pause and say "Is this what I think it is?" I said" yes". "Oh." he said. Another pause, then " I'm just going to take my shower now." I laughed and said "Ok." Someone else might think ' how terrible! He didn't say a thing?' But I know my husband very well, and his analytical mind just had to process the info I had given him. So 10 minutes later, he comes out , gives me a big hug and a kiss and says " So, lets go look at cribs!" So here I am , exactly where I didn't think I would be right now! 16 week pregnant with #2! My son knows now , and is thrilled, although he insists on me giving him a little sister, so I hope I don't disappoint him! For myself, I just hope I can have a VBAC for this one, but I'm not placing any bets!

Ultrasound went really well, and everything looks perfect...it looks like another boy!

Monday, 17 Mar
We`ve chosen a name...William Edward. William, just because I like it, and Edward for my dad.

Wedding was lovely...long day, but nice to have been able to go with baby still inside me...I tried dancing the night away, but it felt as though the skin on my ankles was going to split open, so only a few dances to jostle this little guy around.

I'm so excited for you for tomorrow...you must be too! We have our specialist appointment this afternoon and I'm hoping we can at least consider an inducement and soon...this last week has been uncomfortable. Anyhoo, I will be thinking of you and look forward to reading all about your 'birthing adventures'...all the best & enjoy the experience! Big hugs...michelle

S,P,A, and soon D - Monday, 21 July
Yeah I don't want to hurt my child...the doc told me that also forcing kids out vaginally can cause the collar bones and shoulder bones to break. Looks like a c-section for me. Thanks for your input. Susan

MelisaK - Monday, 21 July
Hey! I just wanted to say good luck on Tuesday. I am getting very excited, I can't wait to meet my daughter. I hope your c-section turns out better this time around! I will be thinking of you!!!

Thanks a lot for the comment. I bought two of the 36C, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see what I need to get once Aeon is here & everything is settling down. At least I have some comfy/supporting bras to wear the last little bit of the pregnancy, I guess!

So how is your little one doing in there?

dasha - Saturday, 19 July
I just love it because she looks like a little "pig in a blanket"....definately will use that one, if only for the cute and helpless factor...

shocked - Saturday, 19 July
I am so glad to hear you are starting to feel better and I like your MD analogy!

I'll have to manage the GD with diet (at least I hope so, never had to take insulin before). I have to go to the nutritionist but can't get in for 2 weeks (leaving for the beach tomorrow) so I'll have to be really careful until then.

I've gotta run and pack but I WISH YOU A HAPPY AND HEALTHY DELIVERY FOR BOTH YOU AND THE BABY!!! I can't wait to read all about it!!!!!! MANY BLESSINGS TO YOUR WHOLE FAMILY!

momof2oneonway! - Saturday, 19 July
Maybe break the mood for him, but not me I would be all SMILES!! umm.. maybe I should go rough, knowing that!!. Thank you and best wishes on your delivery.

dsmrwtnttn - Thursday, 17 July
I sure hope it's just retaining water! I haven't been too good on exercise this pregnancy because I was working 42 hour weeks until the end of June. I'm not working anymore, but I try to do some cleaning, occasionally go for walks or swim. Definitely will be getting active once I'm on my feet after baby comes.

shirls - Thursday, 17 July
Thanks I'm really excited, now we just have to decide on a name. We had already decided on William Robert for a boy, but now we'll have to make some progress on a girl's name. We have it narrowed down to about 5 or 6... :)

megcantwaitforherfirst - Wednesday, 16 July
thank you i freaked that any liquid came out so i am def steering clear of that thing till cailey is ready for me to use it

OK - take a deep breath and slow down!!! Is everything ok? How are you feeling today?

I'm usually the same way - my husband calls them the "gottas", I gotta..., I gotta do..., I gotta... I have not had them in sometime. Nothing is ready for this baby, so if he were to come early, I'm so screwed. A good friend of mine once told me "the things that need done will get done, stop obsessing over the details". I've found I'm a lot more calm since I started following that advice. I am cleaning my kitchen right now, in stages, because when we are at the beach next week, the entire kitchen including cabinets is being painted. I've got about 1/2 of it cleaned and now I have no energy to finish it. Cleaning is hard right now! So I have no idea how you were doing all that you were doing. My little guy feels SOOOOOO low that it seems to actually hurt at times.

Wish me luck, I have the 3hr. glucose on Thursday AM and I'm so worried that I'm going to fail it.

Keep my posted as to how you're feeling!

dasha - Tuesday, 15 July
you're totally right, and it turns out the guy was really nice, and more gentle than my doctor when it came to the internal check....even made a joke to my husband about having short chubby fingers, and apologized for having to use two....he was nice. but hey, no progression. looks like i'll still be around in week 40.....

Jodi - Tuesday, 15 July
Angie..I am so sorry you are this sick so close to delivery! Hang in there girl..being sick makes everything that much more difficult and I would be worrying too. Just remember that baby is so far along and protected nothing bad will happen. If only you could rest but I know thats not going to happen. Thinking of you and understand how you feel. You have always been strong and positive online so its the cold thats got the best of you right now and that WILL go away! goodluck..jodi

shocked - Monday, 14 July
Same EXACT thing happened to me - my 2nd was breech! I promise that it will be SOOOOO different than the first time. I told my Dr. in the OR during the 2nd c-section that if I knew it could be that easy, I'd have 10 more kids! I hope that doesn't happen now!!!! Are you ready? Are you excited?

You'll be great!!! I can't believe you are going to have that baby in your arms in less than 10 days!

msmoli - Sunday, 13 July
Thank you. I am just waiting for my husband to get home from work and then I am going to call the hospital and see if they want me to come in. I really don't feel like I am experiencing labour, but then again I wouldn't know!

His.Baby.Mama - Sunday, 13 July
hi I am having my c-section the same day as you and this will also be my 2nd. Did you get a time of when your going, i just have the date but nothing else, I am alittle nervous. Good luck!

sparklyval - Sunday, 13 July
Hi! It is great that you have got a date for your c-section, although I can understand you feeling a little disappointed that you may not be able to go for a VBAC. Is it too late for him to swich around? I don't know how far through pregnancy you can be for them to still have enough room to turn around. I have no idea which way my baby is pointing as it has been almost 8 weeks since my last U/S. I am guessing that she is probably head down as I feel most movements at the top of my belly below my ribcage. I am due to see the midwife this Thursday so she may be able to tell.

22nd July is only 9 days away so you must be very excited about getting to meet your baby soon. Have you got much to do before then? I hope you are feeling well. Valerie
