My husband and I have been together since 1989... my soul mate! We were married in 1996, and after a difficult last month of pregnancy, culminating in 4 induction attempts, and a subsequent c-section at 12 days post date, we were blessed with our son Douglas on March 30th, 2003. After such a difficult birth experience and nursing not going the way I had planned (I ended up pumping breast milk for 12 MONTHS!) , we both decided that we were done having children, (I was already 32, and I couldn't imagine dealing with a teenager in my 50's!) Fast forward 41/2 years, we were where we wanted to be... home , car and I was looking into furthering my education since my son was now in school, ( I had been working full time prior to my sons birth, and chose to ' retire' temporarily to raise my son... another full time job!). I had been charting my menstrual cycles since 1992, when I decided to stop taking the pill, and that method for me worked flawlessly. I know not everyone has success with the rhythm method, but we were always careful, backing up with another method (condoms, sponges) on days that were risky. The end of November comes and I don't feel right... I wasn't late yet, but after you've used charting for birth control for 15 years, you get to really know your own body. So on a whim I go and buy a pregnancy test... knowing it will come back negative of course, but wanting to ease my mind about things ( I had done this a couple of times in the past 15 years, and they always came back negative). So rather than do the test at home, I decide to go to the nearest store with a public bathroom, I figured the sooner I get the thought out of my mind, the better. Well imagine my surprise when I get a big pink + sign. Being the logical ' in the know ' person I am, I knew there are NO false positives on pregnancy tests. I was pregnant! So I laughed, shook my head, and drove home to tell my hubby. I found him just about to take a shower ( it was still early on a Saturday) . I said through the bathroom door " I've got something you should see." Then I scooted the test under the door. I heard him pick it up, pause and say "Is this what I think it is?" I said" yes". "Oh." he said. Another pause, then " I'm just going to take my shower now." I laughed and said "Ok." Someone else might think ' how terrible! He didn't say a thing?' But I know my husband very well, and his analytical mind just had to process the info I had given him. So 10 minutes later, he comes out , gives me a big hug and a kiss and says " So, lets go look at cribs!" So here I am , exactly where I didn't think I would be right now! 16 week pregnant with #2! My son knows now , and is thrilled, although he insists on me giving him a little sister, so I hope I don't disappoint him! For myself, I just hope I can have a VBAC for this one, but I'm not placing any bets!

Ultrasound went really well, and everything looks perfect...it looks like another boy!

Monday, 17 Mar
We`ve chosen a name...William Edward. William, just because I like it, and Edward for my dad.

Wednesday, 26 Mar
Wow, I`m tired again like I was during the 1st trimester! I don`t think it helps that William `complains ` every time I change position in bed...kick, kick, kick! I think I`m going to end up with another`night owl ` like my first was. Sigh!

Hey, thanks for your response regarding my post. I have a lot of mixed emotions right now, and its nice to hear other stories and have some support, so I really appreciate it. :)

MelGrl - Thursday, 10 April
Aww, thank you so much. It's on my right side mostly in the small of my back. I wonder if it's just that he's getting bigger so it's a bit tighter in there. I may take a break from work and go lay on my left side for a few. I really appreciate the feedback!

hayleyXxX - Wednesday, 9 April

I kid you freaking not at UCSD (San Diego, CA) they now use elderly instead of advanced maternal age for people over 35. It is on all my paperwork. It cracks me up big time! I have gotten a few birthday cards and all of these joksters around me are calling it out. I wish you a great VBAC.

Thanks for your encouragement. I feel like there is no end in sight because waiting another week to be induced seem excruciating considering I can barely walk around or stand up for more than 3 minutes right now. Hopefully he'll come naturally, but I really doubt it. There is no sign of him showing up. I don't want to be induced, but want it to end so i'll just hope for the best Good luck with your pregnancy and I hope all goes well for you and you don't go over with this one!

jacquelyn - Sunday, 6 April
Thank you! That's what I love about this site. I can ask anything and get a good answer without people looking at me like I have two heads.:-)

jessy613 - Sunday, 6 April
god, i cant wait to go into labor and have this over with, im so sick of it already

tetera - Saturday, 5 April
Well hey, a couple of pounds is better than the 7 pounds or however many this website said you were over! Another pregnant woman I knew said her doctor told her that as long as your weight gain in pounds didn't outnumber your weeks of pregnancy then all was well...I think that's a good assessment!

tetera - Saturday, 5 April
Hi there, I've gained more than that page said, also, but according to http://www.thebabycorner.com/tools/pregnancy/calculators/weightcalculator.php
that site I'm within a healthy range...I like that site better since it's an actual range and not just one specific amount of weight to have gained! You should check it out and see what it says for you.

mommabrown - Thursday, 3 April
thank you so much!

babynheaven - Thursday, 3 April

April-Marie - Thursday, 3 April
Thanks for the advice! My cramps went away the very next day thank goodness! I could barely walk! I have a feeling labor contractions are going to be ten times worse than that pain, so now I'm a little scared haha!

mama40 - Thursday, 3 April
Hi, thanks for the info about diaper service. This is what I also was afraid of - how to store pile of soiled diapers for a week. But I think I'll give it a try.

my-lil-miracle - Thursday, 3 April
Hey thanks so much for your message on my page, that dr. had me freaking out and its the first time I've seen her and she was telling me all these negative scary things and I was wondering how she could feel the weight when she couldn't even find his head even though I told her he was head down she didn't beleive me so she did a u/s and sure enough there was his head in the same place it's been for the last 3 MONTHS!! I don't think I'll be seeing here again... So they said yours would be 8.5 to 9.5, so how much did he end up weighing??? Thanks again, I feel more calm now.. it just didn't make sense to me that in the past two weeks I've only gained 1 pound and he's gained 5 weeks advancement...

M.M.Masi - Thursday, 3 April
Thanks. I have a huge long pillow that I got for that reason but somehow my husband pulls it away fromme in the middle of the night and I end up rolling on my back. lol. I think one of us ill end up on the couch soon.

Alana530 - Wednesday, 2 April
Thank you. At the moment,I'm willing to try anything!!

chantal07 - Tuesday, 1 April
Thanks for the advice...that makes sense!

lilmami8508 - Tuesday, 1 Apr
i guess you're right. but if there's no harmful affects to the baby (is there?) then i guess it won't hurt to give it try.

itsaboyChristopherNoah - Tuesday, 1 Apr
i know what they are measuring. and im right on target for weight gain. i dont think the u/s tech could have missed a second baby for 24 weeks. i think ive only gained like 15 lbs so far and its all belly i can still wear my preprgnancy jeans they are just uncomfortable

luvnlyf22 - Monday, 31 Mar
cute story! good luck! and congrats

flamingoblue - Sunday, 30 Mar
Thanks for the info. I worried for a brief second, but because it went away so quickly I knew it was just my muscles telling me to slow down.
