My husband and I have been together since 1989... my soul mate! We were married in 1996, and after a difficult last month of pregnancy, culminating in 4 induction attempts, and a subsequent c-section at 12 days post date, we were blessed with our son Douglas on March 30th, 2003. After such a difficult birth experience and nursing not going the way I had planned (I ended up pumping breast milk for 12 MONTHS!) , we both decided that we were done having children, (I was already 32, and I couldn't imagine dealing with a teenager in my 50's!) Fast forward 41/2 years, we were where we wanted to be... home , car and I was looking into furthering my education since my son was now in school, ( I had been working full time prior to my sons birth, and chose to ' retire' temporarily to raise my son... another full time job!). I had been charting my menstrual cycles since 1992, when I decided to stop taking the pill, and that method for me worked flawlessly. I know not everyone has success with the rhythm method, but we were always careful, backing up with another method (condoms, sponges) on days that were risky. The end of November comes and I don't feel right... I wasn't late yet, but after you've used charting for birth control for 15 years, you get to really know your own body. So on a whim I go and buy a pregnancy test... knowing it will come back negative of course, but wanting to ease my mind about things ( I had done this a couple of times in the past 15 years, and they always came back negative). So rather than do the test at home, I decide to go to the nearest store with a public bathroom, I figured the sooner I get the thought out of my mind, the better. Well imagine my surprise when I get a big pink + sign. Being the logical ' in the know ' person I am, I knew there are NO false positives on pregnancy tests. I was pregnant! So I laughed, shook my head, and drove home to tell my hubby. I found him just about to take a shower ( it was still early on a Saturday) . I said through the bathroom door " I've got something you should see." Then I scooted the test under the door. I heard him pick it up, pause and say "Is this what I think it is?" I said" yes". "Oh." he said. Another pause, then " I'm just going to take my shower now." I laughed and said "Ok." Someone else might think ' how terrible! He didn't say a thing?' But I know my husband very well, and his analytical mind just had to process the info I had given him. So 10 minutes later, he comes out , gives me a big hug and a kiss and says " So, lets go look at cribs!" So here I am , exactly where I didn't think I would be right now! 16 week pregnant with #2! My son knows now , and is thrilled, although he insists on me giving him a little sister, so I hope I don't disappoint him! For myself, I just hope I can have a VBAC for this one, but I'm not placing any bets!

Ultrasound went really well, and everything looks perfect...it looks like another boy!

Monday, 17 Mar
We`ve chosen a name...William Edward. William, just because I like it, and Edward for my dad.

Wednesday, 26 Mar
Wow, I`m tired again like I was during the 1st trimester! I don`t think it helps that William `complains ` every time I change position in bed...kick, kick, kick! I think I`m going to end up with another`night owl ` like my first was. Sigh!

I agree. I think banking the blood is like an insurance policy. It will be there, if I need it!

I read your post in week 22, and it's funny that my neighbor and I are are exactly 1 week apart and she is twice as big as i am, and her due date is a few days before mine also. I just think it's neat. well goodluck and many blessings to you.

MelisaK - Thursday, 27 Mar
Good luck with that! I gave up on my husband having the vasectomy so when I have my c-section they are going to do the tubal.

MelisaK - Thursday, 27 Mar
Hello, I was just reading about your pregnancy and had to laugh. I am 36 and quit my job to further my education. I have 2 boys...11 and 2. We were done! I was going to get a tubal after last semester was over....low and behold I realized it had been 40 days since my last cycle. Imagine my surprise when I had a positive pregnancy test (which I took in a local gas station). Anyway...I am getting my girl! The shock has worn off, now I am just very excited (and scared)! Good luck!

I just saw your post about being scared to step on the scale! I feel the same way!!! The last couple times I've gone to the doctor I have gained 5 pounds! I am so scared to get on that scale now! LOL

Hello...thanks for your response about the copy machine...Congrats on your pregnancy.

I know what you mean about the abs, flat tummies don't run in my family to begin with, but after my daughter, it was a whole other story! I think I may also consider some sort of fixing on my belly when we are done having kids. Congrats on your 2nd baby, I read your story and I loved it, sounds like a little blessing in disguise :)

First congratulations on your pregnancy and beautiful family!

Thanks so much for the sleep position advice I saw on the sleep forum...a very clear explanation that put my mind at ease! Are you medically trained?

blessedmom2b - Friday, 21 Mar
Thanks so much for the advice.. I am a little too squeamish actually, but I would do it if I got to be extremely worried about it. Thankfully, I went to the doc on Monday and everything looks great and I don't feel 'open' down there anymore. He said it is probably just the uterus adjusting to the added weight. So I am so much more relieved! I appreciate your help though, and will refer back to your comment should I need to check in the future:) Have a great weekend!

Thank you very much for that information. I was a little bit worried that something had happened to the baby. Thank you. I'll wait a bit longer for it to move. x

Thanks:) Just read your story on your page!! Thats kinda cute how your husband reacted.. Mine did about the same thing. I took the test at 730 am right after he left for work, I was up not feeling great.. About to get in the shower and just pee on the strip for the heck of it.. I look down thinking i will just be throwing the test away being negative.. but no there were two pink lines and I just started shaking lol.. Called him at work and he said oh, ok. lol we were very happy later tho when we got all the blood work and realized we would be parents due to the fact that I have had endometriosis since i was 13 and was on the pill up until a month before we got pregnant. Well anyway congrats to you!!! any names picked out yet?

missygirl - Sunday, 16 Mar
It's Anusol Plus and it doesn't contain either of those ingredients...but it's not working either. Prep H has worked in the past...I think it must be ok as Prep H has a whole section on pregnancy on their site. Thanks!

I've seen the Quinny line before. They sell it in Germany, too. I like them, too, just the Bugaboos better. . .smile. I was so jazzed when I looked at the Bugaboos that I didn't pay much attention to anything else. I just Googled the Quinny's and they are CUTE!!! I will definitely consider these!

EmmaBdue15.06.08 - Friday, 14 Mar
Hey Angela, thankyou for your message on my page! I think your right because it was only a little blood but think i freaked out because i havent had any at all until last night! We will definately be more gentle next time!! x

keez1979 - Friday, 14 Mar
I can relate, too. I have gained 19 pounds so far! I feel so pudgy sometimes, but I know that weight gain is a good thing. I see alot of comments on here by ladies who say they've only gained 3-4 pounds so far, and I'm like 'yeah, right', but I guess it is a possibility for some. Congrats on your pregnancy!

MommaD - Thursday, 13 Mar
Special K fruit and yogart cereal keeps me full in the mornings like nothing else ?? You should try it.

Thanks so much for writing back with the info, I'll take all of the advice I can get. If he were born today, I would not have the proceedure done. It raises my blood pressure and takes my breath away just to THINK about him being strapped to that board! Its like 'HI little guy, welcome to the world!, now come here so I can cut you' AHHHH!!! I do not think everyone would have their girls done, I try to watch what I say because people are extremely passionate about their opinion and I dont want to judge them, I just want to do whats right for us. I personally dont want to do something to him just because everyone else does and my husband(who is cut) feels the same. Ive read tons on the subjuct and the cleanlines argument doesnt do anything for me. I understand it COULD get infected, but we dont live in midevil times, we do have a bathtub and I plan on keeping him clean. And the penile cancer thing is so rare I dont worry about that too much. Also, I read that the numbers are higher for boys NOT getting it done these days so he wouldnt be so different after all. Anyway, after all my research, Id have to say no. The doc asked me if we wanted to have it done and when I said I dont know, it kinda tweaked him like he's not used to that answer? We live in Kentucky so theoretically most boys would have it done, but I thought it was odd to trip up a doc? I appreciate any info you'd like to share :) We had 1 boy in a daycare that I used to work in that was uncut and I learned there not to retract the foreskin...anything else I need to know? THANKS!!
