Tuesday, 5 Feb You will do fine. My 1st was breatfeed and sleep through the night sice the day she was born. And just use KY lots of times your dr has some on hand they will just give you. In regard s to warming the milk not even formula should be warmed in the microwave you can get a bottle warmer at walmart and it cuts the time in half. By the way how has everything been going. I read your blog with my freind last night and you are in our prayers. Have you gone to Social Services you could get food stamps theres no shame in it you need to feed you and your baby. Also go to the wic office they will give you Formula or a breast pump. As well as they will find you somewhere to stay till you can your apartment. They may be able to help with sometime things you need for the better. alliecat393 -
Tuesday, 5 Feb Oh, and most babies don't sleep through the night for a while (after the first four weeks you could always give baby a bottle of formula at night so they will sleep longer-that may be a good compromise for you). With the lotion thing, I think it only matters if you actually apply the lotion on your nipples, not on other parts of your body. As for an occasional beer, that would probably be okay, it is more the every day several that you would want to be concerned with (no literature I have read mentions that at all). My sister used to breastfeed and drink 2 cups of coffee in the morning and it was fine, and I know she had at least the occasional beer. Call La Leche League! It is so much cheaper to breastfeed-you will save over $1000! alliecat393 -
Tuesday, 5 Feb I forgot to mention that warming up milk for baby in plastic bottles in the microwave is really bad too, so unless you use glass bottles, you will probably want to use the stovetop or a bottle warmer anyway. alliecat393 -
Tuesday, 5 Feb regarding breastfeeding-I think whatever site you were reading seems to be making it more complicated than it actually is. I'll try to remember at least some of your concerns-this is my first, so I don't have the firsthand experience, but I have struggled with this idea also. In terms of dryness and discomfort during sex, you can always use a lubricant and that will make it comfortable-we have to anyway. Some birth controls are not recommended while breastfeeding, just talk to your doc and she/he will be sure to prescribe something compatible with b/f. It is true that you shouldn't warm up breastmilk in the microwave because it destroys the nutrients, but if you are going to feed with the bottle often, you can always look into getting a bottle warmer (I have not researched this, but my SIL has one for her 6 month old and loves it). Little babies can get nipple confusion (bottle, paci, breast), but from what I have read after the first four weeks then it is usually okay to give them a bottle or a paci and they will still accept the breast. One issue with the confusion is that it is easier for babies to get milk from a bottle than out of a breast, and so they get lazy if they are not used to the breast first. Your partner can always be involved in other areas early on, and so still get that bonding. Some good friends who had a baby last year and b/f exclusively always had the husband burp the baby, and so had a major role during every feeding. La Leche League is an international organization for support of breastfeeding mothers, and they usually have free meetings, advice, and general assistance. I'm assuming the Atlanta you are in is Georgia, here is a link to their Georgia homepage-it looks like there is an Atlanta hotline you could call too! I'm sure anyone there would love to help you as much as you need. Good Luck! http://www.lllofga.org/ jeanette -
Tuesday, 5 Feb What I've heard over and over again about breastfeeding is that it's hard, but if you stick to it, you'll come to really love it and see that it is truely worth it. As far as all of the rules go, there are occaisions for most of them to be broken. You can't heat formula in the microwave either, so that's a rule you can't avoid. Have a beer if you want to, and if you get a bit tipsy, pump and dispose of the milk. Use as much nice smelling lotion as you want, just don't use it on your boobs. Femanine dryness only happens to some women, but if it happens to you, there are all kinds of fun lubes to use that tingle or warm or taste good. Talk to your doc about birth control options (you won't need it until you're ready to have sex again). A pasifier is fine, don't believe what anyone says about that. Get the orthapedic kind that is the right shape for a breastfeeding infant, and don't worry. baby bug -
Tuesday, 5 Feb Hi! I breastfed both of my boys and it honestly was a piece of cake!! They were great sleepers, I could use whatever lotion, perfumes I wanted, I ate whatever I wanted and it did not affect sex whatsoever. In fact I didn't even get a period for 9 months after, so that was a bonus too! It really is very convenient as you are not supposed to warm formula in a microwave either as there can be hot spots in it and cause baby to get a burn, I also drank little bits of alcohol while nursing and it was fine too! I suggest you at least give it a shot and if it is not for you than at least you have tried. Also, it is free!! Formula is expensive!! Good luck! sirat -
Tuesday, 5 Feb I am proud of you girl...it takes great guts to accept we made a mistake and you have done that..thats your first step...everyone makes mistakes in life..its just that you should know when to say enough and walk away from it. Just saw your pix....you look so cute...dont worrry about the weight, it will go away like I said..but after childbirth are you planning on eating the logaan? In indian culture we eat a mix of dry-fruits for 40 days so the baby is healthy(again if you breast feed) and it helps your stomach go in (It cleans your system up)In case you want to know i can give you the recepie...but then again maybe there is something akin to it in your culture...its almonds, raisins, cashewnuts, hazelnuts, gum arebic, watermelon seeds, powdered dry ginger, sugar and gram flour...ask your mom...Maybe there is something...if there is, you must eat it to regain your strength and body shape...also if you breast feed the baby, the baby will be strong and tough...You will have to think of the baby as well from now on...Your doing the right thing...stay on track..take it one day at a time and dont give in...change your cell number..it has to be a concious effort from your side...Its tough sweety, but all the best Pray to god and I am sure you will do much better in the future... mrskeeya -

Tuesday, 5 Feb ok so i just read your whole page and let me tell you, you dont need him. everything you said i felt the same exavt way with my sons dad. we broke up when my son was about 3 months old. hes 7 now and i havent been with him since we broke up. my son is better off with out him cuz i didnt want him turning out like his dad. he sounds the same as your bf. i now have a better man who actually works and cares about me, my son, and the baby we are having. im sorry if anything i said makes you mad but trust me, you can do so much better. if he honestly cared about you the way you care about him, he never would have let his mom and sister do or say anything bad about or to you. my sons dad used to beat me on a daily basis and once you are out of that you will see how much better off you and your baby are. just make sure you think about things and are truley happy cuz if you arent, your child wont be. nanceej17 -
Monday, 4 Feb I'm happy to hear that you moved back in w/ your parent's. I'm sure it was a tough decision but your situation at home would have been better than the situation w/ your bf's grandmother. It's also good to see that you & your mom are spending quality time together buying the baby stuff together. My advise on what to buy it make a list and include everything you might need. You might also want to go to sites where they recommend what items are needed for the baby. I read that a wipe warmer is a waste of $$ because once the wipe hits your baby's butt it's already cold, the diaper genie was also a waste of $$ cause the bags it uses are expensive plus you can also use the plastic grocery bags to put the dirty diapers in & it won't cost you a thing. I mean are you seriously going to keep dirty diapers in a diaper genie for a week before throwing them away? Ew! Plus your mom can also give you an idea of what is needed. Good luck next Sat baby shopping. PREGOANDSEXY -

Monday, 4 Feb Honestly, the best place to get stuff for a baby (if you want to save money) is Walmart.
My mom got me an awesome crib from there and it was only like $150.
I'm a penny pincher lol and shop discount all the way lmao OooOO also another good place for baby clothes is ebay. You can get brand new items for next to nothing. mizzsnazzy -
Monday, 4 Feb Hey, I was just going to make a comment on one of your blogs where you wrote you are going to limit your food intake, I don't think thats a good idea hun. I mentioned something like this to my doctor as I thought Iwas gaining too much weight, and she said it's a bad idea to limit your intake of food at this stage of pregnancy. Eating healthier foods helps, and eating empty calories doesn't. Breastfeeding will help you lose that weight quick, don't worry about it. You don't have that much longer to go!! tamika-t -

Sunday, 3 Feb Hey girl - just a swimming tip (I love to swim, too). It doesn't ruin my hair outright, but it makes it really brittle and changes the color. Anyways, get a good swim cap (silicone) and sprinkle a bit of baby powder in it. Rub it between your hands to move the powder all around, that way it won't snag when you pull it back off of your head. With a good swimcap, you'll come out of the pool with dry hair! sirat -
Sunday, 3 Feb Hows it going? just thought i'd check you in and see how you were doing...Are you doing OK? Dont worry about your weight...if you want to, you will be able to work it off...i can so relate to chlorine and hair...why dont you try to cover your hair with a cap before going in the pool. its better to look like a dork with a cap for 1 hour and get excercise, than to lose hair..also, rest now...dont worry after the baby comes and you breast feed (IF) the baby, you will lose weight on your own...dont worry about your weight as you could have a lot of the weight of the placenta, amniotic fluid, etc...just tough it out for another month...Feel happy !! paris2707 -

Monday, 28 Jan Hey girl. I don't usually do this, but I read your entire story. I feel for you, you're a very strong person who had to go and still is going through many obstacles. I hope your guy really does come through in the end, because if he doesn't, shame on him. No matter if he is there or not, I know you will strive for the better. You can always go back to school after your son is born, that's what I'm going to be doing. So don't you worry, take it easy right now. Don't stress yourself, just think of the precious bundle of joy that will be here soon enough. He will make you reach the top. Good luck on your pregnancy, stay safe and healthy. I'm going to add ya to my friends list. By the way you're a very good writer. ARYAS-MOMMY -
