Hello Mommies & Fellow Moms-to-Be!

This is our first baby and we are so thrilled and excited! I am joining this site at 8 weeks, and so far am blessed with very minimal nausea, lots of support from family, and I'm just having a blast. Being pregnant has been great so far (knock on wood!)

The best advice (from Mom of course) that I have actually taken to heart is to listen to my body (so simple but never made real sense until now). This is the best time to get to know yourself and truly listen to it, and I have done just that. I eat when I want and what I want (with baby in mind) and I have yet to gain a pound, but I'm excited to get showing already! I really want to get out the just "bloated" look and into real baby bump. I sleep when I want (well, at least when I can) which is the greatest, and no one can say I'm being lazy... haha! I feel more in tuned with myself than ever before...

I am excited to cherish every moment, even if it is cramping and gassiness and back pain. And I especially hope to talk and meet other moms experiencing the same things.

PLEASE READ MY BLOGS for any updates, I hope they can be helpful or are at least be relatable to some moms-to-be :)

I like the crib, it is really cute. I like a more modern look too. I was leaning more towards a darker finishes. We are putting a medium tone bamboo floor upstairs and I don't think the light wood would look as nice as medium or dark. The convertables are so versatile!

Aww.. that decal is sweet! Do you have a really tall ceiling or will you modify the sticker for your home? I think that is a great ideai, I have seen something similar before in a few magazines but nothing like that one. It really is a great idea especially for the price. What kind of crib do you think you are going to buy? I think I might end up ordering one online since I don't have any stores nearby with anything that I thought was good quality.. I could probably get a better deal that way anyway. I am leaning towards not doing anything childish either. I found a really cute poppy flower one for a girl and (I thought I would never say this but..) a dinosaur one for a boy. I feel like everything is sooooo overdone. Does my child really need a dinosaur lamp, curtains, rug, mobile, etc? Yikes!

I know that I will be registering for gifts. I have a lot of out of state family that will send gifts through the mail and will likely shop online, so it will make that whole process a lot easier. I am also pretty picky.. well not picky I just know what I want. I don't mind spending a little extra for quality and durability. A friend bought me a great book that compares the diffrent brands and quality for almost everything.. from strollers to clothing and where to get the best deals. I have learned a lot from it. I went to Babies R Us this past weekend and looked at a ton of stuff but didn't decide on anything for sure. I do know that we will buy a convertable crib (that changes to a toddler bed) and the rest of the furniture will be adult since I can get better quality for a cheaper price. I was shocked at how crappy the youth furniture was for the price (over $3000 for pressboard and glue front drawers!!) I am really waiting to find out what I am having and then I will probably go crazy LOL!!

Usually your gut is right, so you are probably dead on! I guess we will find out soon enough. I never wanted it to be a surprise.. it would kill me not to know! I'm with you on the healthy part.. really that is the most important. I went to babies r us today to look at some things.. omg it was sooo much fun! The bedding sets are just adorable. The only negative to not telling other people is getting all green and yellow. Are you going to register for gifts? People might get the idea from things you pick out for yourself unless you go neutral everything. I make it a point when I buy gifts to get various sizes all the way to 12 months and no 2 things the same color. I had an eye opening experience when one of my friends had a baby and she showed me the closet after her shower. It was entirely pink and all 0-3 months. Needless to say the baby grew out of the size before the baby even had a chance to wear it. At least if I have a girl, I will have great hand me downs!! LOL-

thanks for your suggestions. i have checked about my blood pressure and its always fine. i appreciate your advice!

I was here for two years before I was married, and as a family we have been here almost a year so far. It is really ironic about Indonesian and French for you, I am just the opposite, I studied French for 7yrs and am just short of being qualified to teach high school French, but it has been so long since I used it, I've lost most of it! Here I use Indonesian everyday and have much better Indonesian than French. I can understand French but hardly speak it.
In August we are moving to Surabaya and I have a good doctor there at the International Hospital who has delivered two of my friends babies in the last year so it's all good. Probably my only frustration is that they don't do any tests, including urine, unless I ask for them. The only advantage is that I've had two kids before so I kind of remember what is supposed to be tested for when, which helps a lot!
My kids have actually been healthier here than they ever where in the States so we haven't had to go to the doctor yet with them except for vaccinations at one year for my daughter, and because I had my son's card from the States, I could tell them exactly what she needed.
My mom has 16 brothers and sisters, so I have a ton of cousins and now they are all having kids, and they all live in Canada, so every vacation that is where we went growing up. I've actually been more places in Canada than the U.S. where in Canada do you live?

How precious! Doesn't seeing their tiny face just give you the warmest fuzzies? My sister had 3 people look at my u/s photo with both hands up and try to say the head was on the bottom. How can you mistake a face as clear as yours and mine! Girl, you know I wanted to whack 'em!

ibudoris - Friday, 9 May
That is very cool that you are Indonesian, I am American born, all my relatives are Canadian, but now I live here. How often do you visit? We live in Bandung, so we go to Tangkuban Perahu often, my kids love hiking the trail, and it's nice to get away from the city. I am from Montana, and sometimes I just need the mountains. By the way, do you speak Indonesian? My Indonesian is good, but not always when it comes to technical or medical terms. I am wondering if there is a special word or phrase for Rho-gam? (It's the shot you should get around 28 weeks if your blood type is negative and your husbands is positive, in case your not familiar with it.)

mrsdemaio - Friday, 9 May
honestly I really thought I would be having a girl... but everything keeps telling me the opposite.. including her gender prediction, family, etc. I guess I will find out soon enough, although I would really love a girl. Are you going to ask for her prediction? I have an appointment in a month to find out for sure so I will let you know!

Thanks for the photo comment. Doing my best to be healthy during this very important time. Your tummy looks precious, too. Isn't this just the best time ever?! :-)

mrsdemaio - Wednesday, 7 May
aww.. thanks!! you wouldn't know it from that picture, but it rained our entire wedding day. We got maybe 12 pictures outside and I was standing on a pile of table cloths to prevent my dress from getting wet.. LOL! I can't wait to see what the baby looks like.. I tease my husband all the time and tell him that I think it looks like me in the ultrasound pic!!

mrsdemaio - Saturday, 3 May

young.mamma - Saturday, 3 May
yeah i think so too.i agree alcohol is bad wether ur prego or not..even if ur not i think young ppl shouldnt be drinking..i think the only time i would ever drink again is if i was celebrating something or if it was a casual sit around and talk sort of thing.but wen ur pregnant?i think its soo wrong, and anybody who says a little is ok should try to raise a mentaly challanged baby before they say anything!

young.mamma - Saturday, 3 May
i wasnt planning on drinking just i am confused with wether a little is actualy good or bad so i asked...i know i wouldnt drink at all.
