I failed my 1 hour test but I passed the 3 hour test. Basically it is just a longer version of the 1 hour test. You fast, go in early in the morning. They draw your blood first, then you drink the stuff and they draw your blood three more times @ one hour intervals for the next three hours. It does kinda suck sitting there all that time and getting your blood drawn 4 times won't be fun either but once it's over, it's over. Good luck!

I failed my one hour test and then I had to go and take a three a three hour and first of all please make sure you go first thing in the morning because I had to fast all freaking day long and that sucked whn I got there they made me pee in a cup then they gave me that nasty drink then the poked me after that they gave me a schedule and told me to come back ten minutes before my time so they could take more urine and then take me blood at the scheduled time and they repeted this stpe three times luckily I was able to wonder around the hospital or go where ever I wanted to go as long as I was not late getting back. I passed thank GOD hopefully yours will come back negitive. Good Luck.

Try not to worry. SO many of us have failed the one-hour only to pass the three-hour. It isn't horrible, though you do have to fast for this one. Check with your doc for full instructions, and take a book or something to pass the time. Don't forget to remain hydrated a few days before so your veins are friendly, and take water with you so you don't get thirsty. Good Luck; it is all part of the journey:)

Hey, I failed the test also. I got a 137 and my doc said he wanted it under 134. I went today and it wasn't too bad., mostly boring so bring a good book! It sucks if u hate needles b/c you get stuck 4 times, twice in each arm...GOOD LUCK!!

Hello, I literally just got back from my 3 hour glucose test. They told me to fast for 10-12 hours prior to the test. My blood was drawn then I had to wait 45 minutes to drink the soda. I then drank it and got my blood drawn each hour on the hour for three hours. The whole ordeal took 4 hours. Bring stuff to read! I brought a whole backpack full of magazines and ended up sharing them with several of the other mommas who were there for the same reason lol! Good luck with your test

I just had to take the 3 hour test a week ago and I passed that one. My one hour test was 155. I was told not to eat or drink nothing after mid night that night before and I had to be at the hospital by 6:30am. The nurse took my blood right time I got there and then she made me drink the same drink I had for the 1 hr, but it was 100g instead of 50g and she took my blood every hour on the hour for 3 hours, so for a total of 4 times, which isn't bad if you have a nurse that knows what she is doing. I don't know about the place you are getting yours done, but they put you in a room with a recliner and pillows and blankets and tv, so time went by pretty quick. I don't think you will have any problem. Good luck!

Hi there, to ur msg from 29 wks - I failed my 1hr test too and I was at 162 (blame all the candy bars I had :angry). I had to go to the 3hr the next week and they wanted me to fast for 8-12hrs before going in for the test. They poke you 4times, one is as soon as you u go in and they make ur have the yucky drink , and will poke every hr after that for 3times - even if two of the tests of come back high, they will term it GD - I passed all the 4 test (flying colors..lol)

So better take an appmnt in the morning hrs, that way u can fast the from the previous night after dinner up until u go for the testing next day. All the best dear :) Most of us who fail the 1hr passed the 3hr, and I pray that u wud be one of us too

baby.cakes-I'm a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator and mrcleanswife is right on. For one hour GTT you are given a 50g glucose load and want to be less than 140 at hour, for your 3hr GTT it will be a 100g glucose load and fasting you want

I had to do the three hour test. It wasn't fun at all. you know that make you drink a 50% sugar with your 1 hour well they make you drink 100% sugar with your 3 hour. It's like drinking a flat over sugared soda. They stick you 4 times! They made me take the sugar test cause I was at 148. You are a bit higher then I was but I still think you will be ok. Good luck!!! And just think it will all be over soon!!
