Hi everyone, I've finally plucked up the courage to get technical :)
I'm currently 11 weeks pregnant, all being well, I'll be 12 weeks on Sunday 22nd April...can't wait! I have my first scan on 4th May, and I feel like it's taking forever! This will be our first baby and I'm very excited but also pretty anxious about having a healthy pregnancy and being a good Mum! I've been suffering quite badly from nausea and exhaustion for the passed 3 weeks to the point where I can't keep my head up! I had a concert at the end of March which I struggled to prepare for due to feeling so very sick and exhausted..but it went well in the end. I can't wait for this bit of the pregnancy to be over!...I'm in bed by 9pm these days!
I'm now 12 weeks and 1 day, and luckily my nausea is wearing off, it comes and goes now rather than being around non stop 24/7! I've put on 8 pounds since we found out we are pregnant which was on 14th March (aprox 6 weeks ago), which seems like rather a lot and I have a lovely bump which I'm quite proud of :) Now I'm feeling a little better I might start some gentle exercise soon, as I miss it!...Never thought I'd say that!
15th April 07 : 12 weeks pregnant
25th April 07 : Feeling very very sick! Yuck!!..there I was thinking it was getting better! Oh..just for the record the chinese gender chart predicts that we're having a baby girl...we'll just have to wait and see! :) Well sickness got worse, then I started getting severe stomach cramps..ones which made me double over and diarrhea...so off we went to A&E to get myself checked out, it took 3 people and 6 attempts to find a vein for the blood test and tap incase I needed an IV, anyhow, 5 hours later we found out I have gastro-enteritis...meaning plenty of fluids and dry toast! Good thing was that I got checked out by OBGYNE and she said that my pregnancy wasn't ectopic and my uterus was where it should be at this stage :)..was really hoping for a scan...but alas I still have to wait until next Friday!
26th April 07 : Slept lots, and feel washed out...I weighed myself this morning and I've lost 3 pounds!..Had to cancel work again.....couldn't handle the nausea, diarrhea and work today!
My poor hubby has had to deal with his work, household chores, job interviews, taking me to hospital and looking after me! He deserves a medal!! I'm very lucky :)
30th April 07 : finally getting over gastro enteritis, and really feeling great today! Clothes are pretty tight, I have quite a pretruding bump :) I have my first scan this Friday 4th May..quite excited but also very anxious about it, as I have no idea what to expect!
Well, I had my scan on Friday, and it was the most amazing thing I've experienced ever!! I had to wait sooo long to see my baby, and it was absolutely incredible, I lay there crying I was so overwhelmed! It was moving around so much the sonographer had difficulty taking its photo! We managed though, and we have a beautiful picture of our baby already!! I'll try to put it on my page for all to see :) (proud Mummy to be...already!)
We were told that I was only 12 weeks and 3 days pregnant (on 4th May) so I've had the weeks all wrong until now....so all my previous notes on this page are also a little ahead than what I actually was. So where I say "I'm 12 weeks and 1 day" I'm actually 10 weeks and 6 days! Which pushes my EDD to Tuesday 13th November and not the 4th.
I went out and bought myself some maternity clothes yesterday, as my clothes have got so small for me now, it's impossible to feel comfortable! My mother in-law is visiting today to see our bump...I think she's in for a bit of a shock! :)
My next scan is at 20 weeks which would be on Tuesday 26th June...can't wait!
8th May 07 : Well I'm officially in my 2nd trimester from today onwards which is very exciting. I've framed my babys scan photo so I can keep looking at it while working and reminding myself that I really and truly am pregnant...as well as showing off my little baby to all my pupils and their parents :) It's on the top of this page.
13th May 07 : I feel HUGE!!! I only have one set of maternity clothes, so I'm currently sitting in my husbands T-shirt waiting for my clothes to wash and dry!! Think I need to go shopping again! :) I have a home visit from the hospital mid wife on Monday 21st May...it's all happening!
15th May 07 : I've fulfilled my 14th week today and.... I felt my baby move for the first time! It was while lying on our sofa watching "Heroes" and I made a loud whooping sound as I felt it!! :) My hubby had his hand on my tummy all night after that..but alas...nothing! Can't wait to feel it again!
29th May 07 : Returned from a lovely break in Bruges, Belgium with my hubby, as all our friends and family highly recommended we have a break together before I get too big to walk around and baby arrives!. We had a GREAT time! I unfortunately had to pass on all the chocolate as it makes me feel so ill! Totally NOT like me! Enjoyed all the pastries though :) It's so good to feel well again!!
31st May 07 : We had an antenatal check with the doctor yesterday, and we heard the babys heart beat which was fantastic! It was a complete surprise as I normally just get weighed and get my blood pressure checked, whereas yesterday was really special! I must add that I've been feeling flutters in my tummy recently which is very exciting. My next appointment is on Thursday 7th June, at the hospital to have a triple blood test...one to check my blood group, one to check for Spina Bifida and the other for Downes Syndrome. Fingers crossed it'll all be OK.
7th June 07 : Had my triple blood test done at the hospital today....it went OK, apart from forgetting my blood forms!! Doh! The lady was great though..she found my vein first time! Phew!!

Holiday in Bruges at 16 weeks and a hair cut which was well over due!!
13th June 07 : I was admitted into hospital after excrutiating pain and misdiagnosis of a huge infected abcess at the bottom of my spine which was spreading! I also had a slight urine infection too! I was told by a very arrogant and horrible doctor, who only saw me once to get my consent for the operation and to say that there was a risk of miscarriage and left me with that without any care for my feelings and walked away! I was also told that may not be able to have a local anaesthetic as it was too near the infected area. ...I was absolutely devastated and couldn't stop crying. My husband and the nurses tried to calm me down, my Mum was also in tears. However, I was reassured by the surgeons when I went into theatre that a local aneasthetic would be OK and wouldn't harm the baby. I was given an aneasthetic in my spine and put on 2 IV's. all the doctors, nurses and surgeons were fantastic and looked after me really well....all except that one doctor who treats all his patients like machines! I stayed for one night in hospital as my temperature was pretty high and my open wound needed to be re dressed quite often and I was on an IV for a quite a while. Just before I left, I heard the babys heart beat, so I was reassured it was OK...it was recorded as 130-140. I now have to take strong pain killers every 6 hours and have a nurse visit me every day to change my dressing and pack the wound with special ribbon to help drain anything there, which is very painful, but has to be done everyday for at least another 2 or 3 weeks. It's been really really tough and I'm emotionally and physically exhausted!!
15th June 07 : Good news! Got my triple blood test results and they say our baby's low risk at a ratio of 1: 450.
Daddy bought his baby its first present during his lunch hour at work....a gorgeous nursery rhyme book. He's such a wonderful guy..we're very lucky to have him :)
17th June 07 : I'm feeling a little better today, I can feel the baby move ever so lightly and occasionally which is lovely and really cheers me up!
19th June 07 : Nurse comes every day to dress my wound, which isn't as painful as it was a few days ago. However, my problem is sitting and lying down comfortably and supporting my back but without putting any pressure on my bottom, as my tummy has got pretty big! It's quite tricky! I have my 20 week scan next Tuesday, and I'm feeling quite nervous and anxious about it..hope that all the drugs I've had to take hasn't affected the baby in any way. Hope to find out the sex of the baby too! :)
23rd June 07 : Today was great. My hubby bought us/me a baby heart beat monitor to put my mind at rest, as I've been worrying about the affects of all the drugs, the op and stress has had on the baby the passed couple weeks! It arrived this morning, and it was fantastic to hear our babys heart beat once again. In fact my inlaws came round to visit today so mum got to listen too and then we went round to my parents and got my big tummy out again so they could hear it!..I could do this ALL day! lol! Can't wait to show my nan, she'll be sooo impressed with the technology! :) Oh...mustn't forget to add...my wound is closing up and is now only 1cm deep and I'm totally off all pain killers...hurray!
26th June 07 : Today I had my 20 week scan, and I drank loads of water to make sure the picture would be clear. So of course I wasn't seen until 20 minutes after my appointed time! Anyway, I took a pillow with with me to help lie on my back more comfortably, and Robin held my hand...( I was very nervous!) :) We had 2 other sonographers with us to help demonstrate a new scanning machine, which was pretty clear! He checked and measured the baby, and we were told it was fine and aprox 22cm in length. We then asked the sex of our baby, and we found out .....................................................................that we're having a little boy!! :) We are sooo excited, todays scan has made it so real for us now! We're totally stuck for boys names, but I'm sure we'll come up with something we both like! We had photo's taken of the scan, but they're no where near as good as the first as he was sleeping at a strange angle! The sonographer told me to cough hard to wake him up..(which was a bit tricky and very uncomfortable..due to the fact that I had a full bladder a sore wound on my lower back and the sonographer pressing very very hard on my tummy which hurt!....I thought I was going to burst!!) but all our baby boy did was stir a little and went straight back to sleep!!.ahh! :) We saw his little feet and hands.....the cutest things I've ever ever seen!! I can't wait to bring him into our world and cuddle him forever! But until then...I'm out shopping! LOL! :) Ooh...one more thing...so much for "Chinese Gender Prediction! I guess it had a 50/50 chance! :)
Here's my lovely baby boy at 20 weeks ..excuse him for not posing...for he was very busy..... sleeping! :)

6th July 07 : I had some good news today. The nurse said that my wound on my lower back is almost healed and doesn't need packing anymore, so she won't be coming over at the weekend...I just need to keep this infection at bay now! Robin and I have been thinking very very hard about choosing a boys name, it's been tough as we want a name that's Turkish and pronouncable in English, and we've come up with something we both really like, which is great! It's "Taylan" but pronounced "Tye-lan" in english..this is my only reservation, I guess we'll just have to make sure everyone pronounces it correctly :) Who knows it may change by next week!
I've booked the builders to come mid August and reboard and plaster all bedroom ceilings, and replaster the walls as well as knock a chimney breast down, we hope to be getting new carpets fitted too, so our little boy will have a lovely nursery when he's born, and we'll have a smart bedroom too! It's so exciting! oooh...forgot to mention..need a new front door too! :)
Me at 22 weeks..enjoying my pregnancy at last, and just waiting for my belly button to pop out! :)
16th July 07 : I can finally feel my baby boy move!!! It's such a wonderful feeling, he makes me giggle every time and I'm loving it! :)
Lots going on!...Had an asthma check at the hospital today..good news is that it's all under control, but they're going to continue checking up on it so I have to keep a peak flow diary. I also booked my week 28 GTT (glucose tolerence test) and my bloods to be done all on the same day, which is Tues 21st August. Then the next day (Wed 22nd August) I have an appointment with the consultant..I may aswell camp there for the week!
It's all going so fast!
Also forgot to mention that my feet and ankles swell up ocassionally and I need to put them up alot of the time...not ideal when teaching! Ho hum.
I got an invitation today to perform a short piano recital at my old school in September.....I'll be 7 months pregnant by then.....hmmm..should be interesting!
21st July 07 : Robin felt our baby kick (or punch as he puts it!) last night..this has made me feel very happy..not that he got punched of course but that he felt our baby...AT LAST!!! He was moving so much last night that my bowl of cherries (which was resting on my tummy) almost went up in the air! :)
We're going "window" shopping today at Blue Water to check out the babys nursery furniture and other goodies that we've added to our wish list at John Lewis and Mothercare. Very excited!
7th August 07 : Our son is kicking and punching me so hard these days that I can actually sit and watch my tummy jiggle around! It's great apart from the times he kicks my bladder! We've booked a 3/4D scan on 22nd August..I'll be 29 weeks then, and should be able to see our babys features more clearly....I can't wait!
9th August 07 : Thought it was funny to note down that baby woke me up at 4.30am with hiccups!! (sp hicoughs??) I was giggling for quite some time and woke his daddy up! :)
20th August 07 : I have my GTT (glucose tolerence test) and blood tests tomorrow..and not allowed to eat or drink after 9pm! Boo! :( I'm a bit anxious about the results!
21st August 07 : Yesterday was the first day of my last trimester..and it's all going so fast!
Had my tests yesterday, GTT and bloods and it went OK, I get the results at my next consultation appointment on Wed 5th Sept. I have a 3/4D scan tonight at Kings Oak Hospital and I'm really excited about it! :) ....Just got back....it was absolutely fantastic. He was moving around so much..rubbing his eyes, kicking and playing with his feet! He looks just like his lovely daddy :)

22nd August 2007 : Our baby boys 4d scan at 29 weeks
27th August 07 : It's bank holiday Monday today and our builders have finished replastering and the electrician has fitted the light fixtures, so hubby is painting the base coat today...I can't wait to get this finished, it's going to look so lovely!

7th
September 07: Hubby's been painting like crazy for nearly 2 weeks..my
parents came round and helped towards the end which was great...and now
we've got the carpets fitted so I hope to be moving back home this
weekend...can't wait! Tyelan's been kicking ALOT the past few days and
his kicks are getting stronger!
28th October 07 : Our wardrobes finally arrived last Thursday and we've been very busy putting our stuff away and sorting out our clothes which then meant we could set up the nursery properly!..Well, almost! We finished the nursery this morning..border was put up last week, and today Robin put his curtain tie backs up and fixed the decor on the wall..just got one canvas to put up. Light shades are up and I've even put his little clothes away in the cupboard! :) It looks gorgeous (if I may say so myself!) Just waiting for my nursing chair and foot stool to arrive now and about to order a small table for his room for his thermometer and baby monitor and would like t get a toy box to keep things tidy...to begin with anyway! So we're very nearly there! Here's some pics:

2nd Nov 07 : Today is my last day of work, and I'm feeling as though it's an end of a chapter! All my pupils are wishing me lots of luck and some have even bought presents for the baby! I'm very lucky to have such lovely people to work with! Hope they do well in their exams next Tuesday and Wednesday! I'm really looking forward to sleeping lots and putting my feet up as they're SO swollen and hurt! I can't even put my sandals on anymore! I've been getting BH contractions on and off..mainly after we have a curry! lol! I do hope that I'll get to rest a little before baby arrives! Doctor says that he's 3/5ths engaged so here's hoping he won't take too long to arrive :)
3rd Nov 07 : I was up at 4am this morning with signs of early labour...lower back pains and strong contractions every half hour..my hubby called the hospital and I was instructed to have a hot bath and call again in a couple of hours. So, I had my bath and kept doing my breathing exercises every contraction Robin was brilliant and did the breathing with me, which helped me focus and not panic! I then fell asleep inbetween, but the contractions stopped and woke up this morning at 9.30 feeling very disappointed that it was a false alarm! Hoping that Tyelan will arive soon!
4th Nov 07 : First day of maternity leave and STILL waiting! (Got new front door fitted though!)
Me at 39 weeks...performing a unique balancing act :)

Me at 39 weeks
10th Nov 07 : Still waiting! Uurghh!!
12th Nov 07 : Had contractions again at 1am today but wore off around 4.30am and they've been on and off all day..I think his time's drawing near :) We're very tired though (already!) and going to bed at 7pm!
13th Nov 07 : Today is supposed to be my due date and I've had no signs of labour what so ever! I had a nice long lie in this morning and just had a long pampering session and I've got my feet up watching TV!..Come on my baby... I'm SO ready!!
15th Nov 07 : I'm now two days overdue amd the midwife attempted to do a membrane sweep today but failed as my cervix is too high..she's going to try again next Wednesday 21st if that fails then I'll be induced on Friday 23rd Nov.
18th Nov 07 : I had contractions all day yesterday which got stronger and more frequent so we went to the hospital around midnight and the midwife checked me only to find our baby is no where near ready to be born yet and in fact he's back to back, which is scaring me! So sadly I got sent home! The contractions have faded away and I've had nothing all day today. Fingers crossed he'll turn the right way before Friday!
19th Nov 07 : Feeling a bit better about things..I've been leaning forward every chance I get and rocking
on all fours. I guess I'll have to wait until Wednesday when the midwife attempts to do a second membrane sweep to find out if he's turned. My friends and family have been really supportive and my hubby is WONDERFUL..I don't know what I would do without him!
26th Nov 07 : Today is the 2nd day home from hospital! Tyelan was born on Wednesday 21st November 2007 at 3.49am weighing 7Ib's 8oz.
GUESS WHAT??.....On Tuesday 20th I still had no signs of labour and was preparing lunch for my hubby for when he got home, and I had one strong contraction which I ignored as I had so many false alarms before! I
made myself some raspberry leaf tea and then had another contraction.
My husband got home and my contractions were coming strong and fast at which time Robin gave up the idea of going back to work and started timing my contractions. I also hooked myself up to my TENS machine which was good for early labour). At 3.30pm I was in hospital and 2cm dialated, I was relieved to hear that baby had turned to his side and was no longer back to back (posterior position). My parents and sister arrived, I had some food, had a shower and changed for the big event! We even put on the CD's we chose ..Beethovens 5th piano concerto :) My
mum rubbed my back in the early stages of labour which was great but I
couldn't bear it in the later stages as it got extremely painful. I got to 4cm and had one dose of pethidine and continued to 10cm (sleeping inbetween contractions) rather quickly on just gas and air. My husband was great, holding my hand all the way through....literally for every single contraction! Towards the end I was moved into another room to be monitored as our baby was in distress and had done his meconium inside me! My hubby gave me water and wiped my brow throughout!
I then had the urge to push but the baby was no where to be seen and I was then told to stop as he was in distress, he was back to back and too high up, so they suggested drugs to intensify the contractions further to try and turn the baby around and then a ventouse delivery and failing that a cesarian section. By this time I was begging for the epidural anyway! Thankfully I was given an epidural as they were planning to intensify the contractions further and I was taken into theatre and they realised the cord was tight around the babys neck aswell and every time I pushed the cord got tighter. After all the pain and anguish I was then rushed into theatre and given a C section straight away and our baby boy was born at 3.49am (just over 12 hours after coming into hospital) 7Ib's and 8oz....I couldn't see the op but I did hear him cry the second he was out! I coudn't believe it! I was then in recovery for the whole day and both our parents visited. I was completely on another planet! The next day I was taken to the ward and baby Tyelan was at my bedside the whole time....I couldn't stop looking at him he's so cute! We were then moved to a room of our own and unfortunately Tyelan had severe jaundice which affected his feeding in a big way and was put under phototherapy lights for 3 days...they almost had to give him a blood transfusion and feed him by tube as he wasn't feeding properly. However, he luckily managed to turn things around and his feeding improved aswell as his jaundice and on Saturday 24th we were finally allowed to come home. I had my stitches out today (Monday 26th) and although I'm still pretty slow getting around (I'm allergic to the pain killers they would normally give and I'm having to take "normal" painkillers) I'm healing well. I'm trying to breast feed but Tyelan isn't co operating very well and the Midwife (who has come to our home twice now) has suggested I express my milk aswell as feed him formula and feed him by bottle which is working very well.
So, there's my story...and it's only just the beginning! :)

Wednesday 21st November 2007...Just a few hours old!

22nd Nov '08..exhausted!! Tyelan has 3 days of phototherapy for he was severely jaundiced...my poor baby!

24th November 2007 : Home Sweet Home

Michaela's "Tiger" position works a treat on baby Tyelan!

This is my favourite photo so far! Tyelan 2 months old getting ready for a bath.

21st Feb '08 : My gorgeous boy who's 3 months old today and dancing with Mummy....he's just started to roll all the way over now.
