Well I gave birth to my last child... at least for now and a long time to come, on September 5th, 2008!!
My first child, my daughter Kloe Marie de Bruyn, was born November 26th, 2005 just one day over our due date. She was due on the 25th which was one year of me and "Daddy" dating! She was a surprise to us both... but a good one indeed! Guess the depo shot just wasn't right for me.
The first stage of labor was about 26hours at home after a short visit at the hospital the morning of the 25th.. they sent me home as contractions weren't strong enough or progressing. The next day i was in a 12, had my epidural. I started pushing at 4:30pm and had her by 6:32pm. I ended up with layers of stitches, sore for about 4-5 weeks and breastfed her for 3 months... and was a bit of a struggle. Got engaged exactly 2 weeks later!!!
NOT TO SHABBY FOR NUMBER ONE!!
My second child, my son Travis John Sydney de Bruyn, was born in November 8th 2007. He was concieved while we were actually starting to plan having another Child. I was on the patch but low and behold... god beat us to the planning!! This labor was different from the first as we knew when he was comming. I sat at 4cm for about 2-3 weeks and at 38.5 weeks and still 4cm my OB/GYN decided to break my waters to get things going at 10am morning he was born. By 12pm there was no contractions so at 1pm the started the drip. Contractions started at 1:15pm and they were INTENSE!! I asked for the epidural at this time and by 1:40pm I started to feel the intense desire to bear down and push... sure thing I was 9cm. Nurses told me then that I would have no choice but to go natural ( something I always wished I could do but knew I wouldn't unless I had no choice and apparently I had no choice)!! At 1:45pm the Dr's rushed in and telling me to prepare for the birth of my son... and at 1:52pm he entered our lives. Natural and no tearing/stitches needed! I was up and running my house 24 hours later and breastfed for only 6 days as the struggle of being a stay at home mom, the hormonal baby blues and my constant sadness for my daughter and the time I was missing with her all caught up to me. It was sad to stop but it was best for me and my family.... (hubby and I had some rough times, a week split up and all that drama.. but it worked itself out)
AND THEN THE FUNNY PART!!! HA HA HA
I went to my 6 week appointment, which was more like 8 due to the holidays. When I went to the Dr's and he did my exam to make sure things were fine he looked up at me and said "YOUR PREGNANT" I thought he was kidding... but why would he joke about something like that?? My hubby had already met with a Dr and set up an appointment for a vasectomy to be done in the first week of February, 2008. I wanted more children but not so soon... and hubby was OBVIOUSLY not ready for more but like everything GOD desided to take things in his own direction! HA HA But we talked and realized that we would get through this together... mind you hubby still got his vasectomy done!!
SO, My third child, my son Koen Jozef de Bruyn, was born September 5th, 2008. He was born at 37 weeks exactly. I had just spent the past few days cleaning EVERYTHING, to lay down on the bed at 2:30am to hear and feel a "pop".. my water broke (more in depth story on his page about that day). I called mom to come watch my other two children, but knew I should hurry due to the fast labor with my second. I called an ambulance even though there was no contractions. Got to hospital at 3am and nurses were all laughing at how calm and cool I was and then decided to tell me that I was a whopping 8cm dilated! CRAZY cause I felt nothing at this point, and also a sure sign that I was going natural AGAIN. As hubby was at home waiting for my mom to arrive I was on my way to the delivery room. I sat there with the nurses talking and laughing until hubby arrived at 4am, still wasn't feeling a thing! It was quite bizzare to say the least. Then at 4:10 I felt pressure, which was just a bowel movement, so the nurses helped relieve that for me gross but actually great feeling at that time! LOL (SORRY TMI) Then at 4:20am I began having some contractions but nothing compared to my others... nurses checked my cervis and I was 10cm. I pushed, although scared as heck, and out he came at 4:24am. I was thrilled it was over with and so greatful to be home 24hours later feeling absolutly great. again the breastfeeding was the same as the second and I felt no need to stress this time, but of course tears for fear I wasn't doing the beat a mother could, but greatful for our family and healthy children.
The worst experience ever was 6 weeks post with the last. My bleeding had been red, more red then usual sine the last delievery and coming to 6 weeks post I knew there was a problem. I went to the ER where I stayed from 8pm-2am. Blood tests and poking and proding at me all seemed to be normal... all signs pointed to me being completely heathy except for the Bright red bleeding I had been experiencing. They sent me home with instrustion to return at 11am for ultrasounds.
Once those were done I went back to the ER Dr. who then told me that I had some "left over products" from the delievery and that I had to undergo a D&C to remove it all. Said I was luck to have no signs of a problem, (like infection, fever, discharge...) except for the abnormal bright red bleeding. SO at 2pm I went into the ER, 2:30 woke in the recovery, 4pm in my room and discharged at 9pm. It wasn't a great experience at all, but I delt with it knowing that I was okay, the chilren were ok and that I had an amazing family at home when I returned.
I hope you enjoy your time here on this site and enjoy my stories of my chilren, my experiences and my comments, and replies to the many of you on this site! Congrats to you all, and baby dust to you as well!!!
BEST WISHES FROM MY FAMILY TO YOURS
