Hey there! Well my name is Shanti and this is my first pregnancy. I just finished my junior year at the university of Kentucky and I'm taking this year off to have my little girl! When I go back I plan to get my Bachelors in Elementary Education. I love horses, swimming, partying, my family, animals, being outside, and being crazy! My little Miss Jolie Love Borders is due on November 7th, and we can't wait! Her dad and I met in a bar early last summer, and I think it might have been one of the luckiest days of my life, we love to party together, hike, go boating, be adventurous, and sing to each other all the time! We plan to get married in June of 2009. He was in the Marines for 7 years and was recently medically retired, now he is going to school to get his bachelors in criminal justice. He is a Cage Fighter in his spare time, and is quiet the local celebrity! lol He does the amateur version of the UFC, we have a lot of fun traveling around the state and going to fights with his team. :) I'm so lucky and so excited! Sounds like you guys are going to be VERY busy! We're not doing much! We're just layin' around all weekend. We're getting nice weather, too ~ sunny and warm. But I have to say, I'm a fall weather person ~ I prefer chilly, even drizzly, days. But that's okay ~ it will still make for a great weekend. My dad is a huge fan of the UFC and MMA!

I completely agree with you! Even if you do the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, the baby is still at risk for shingles later anyway, so why bother? It stinks that it's so hard to enroll in a preschool without vaccines ~ what state do you live in? I'm in Illinois, and we can do a religious exemption...but I think I'll have the necessary vaccines done by then (which is only a fraction of what they tell you that you have to get in total) since he or she will be over 2 by then....

Yeah, that's my feeling. Just recently, a parent made history by being the first to win a court case against vaccine manufacturers because she was able to prove that vaccines did indeed harm her baby. I don't know ~ for us, my hubby is home during the day, and I'm home at night, so we're not using daycare or anything ~ and I don't think (God willing) that either of us is going to bring home something like measles, so no hurry for us to get the vaccines done! Vaccines like the Hep B shot at birth seem so absurd to me ~ I mean, unless the mother has it, the baby can only contract it through sexual contact or a tainted needle, and OF COURSE, that is NOT going to happen! It's interesting that your mom waited to vaccinate ~ if you don't mind my asking, did she oppose vaccines? What's crazy is that even back then (not that long ago), there weren't nearly as many vaccines as there are now! I mean, a vaccine for chicken pox? Really? We all had that, didn't we ~ and we're just fine! Again, I have to say that I don't judge any mom for her decision ~ everyone only wants what they feel is best ~ just for me, it feels best to wait a while!

I don't mind your asking at all! I've been working in the field of autism for about ten years now, and with all my experience and research, I believe that there is a link between vaccines and autism. I believe it's a genetic predisposition that's sparked by the thimerosal in vaccines. Thimerosal was supposed to be removed from all vaccines in 1999, but studies have shown that not all manufacturers are following the rules. My hubby and I will vaccinate, but we don't see a really good reason to do that to such a young child. We'll do it after our little bean turns 2 or so and has a chance to fully develop his or her immune system. But that's just me ~ I totally respect each mom's decision! Some moms feel that vaccines are really important to do right on schedule, and I completely respect that, too ~ to each his own
