About Me...Hubby...and Bubs

Hello to all mum's and mum's to be. My name's Danijela and I have a baby girl, Emilijana with my Husband Emil. She will be 8 months on the 24th of this month. My Hubby and I met at work, it was love at first sight, the poor guy even tripped lol. After 2 days of dating, he proposed and 6 weeks later we find out we're having a baby. We waited to get married after she was born, funny enough we chose the 24th of November because it's the month we started dating and also the month we got engaged. I'm born on the 2nd, and he on the 4th and our little bubs on the 24th, its amazing how things turn out. So it came to our big day and also Emilijana's because she also had her christening on the same day as our wedding, it was really beautiful to share such memorable moments as a new happy family.

The Pregnancy

My pregnancy was very good... I had no morning sickness what so ever but had the most strangest cravings... I was eating raw onions as apples... now after the birth I think to myself how in gods name is that possible...lol... I loved anything savory, I ate anchovy's everyday, straight out of the jar... I hate anchovy's but it had to be eaten otherwise anything else I ate didn't hit the spot... I gained weight very easily, by 10 weeks people were asking if I was carrying twins... it was scary because after my 8 week scan it was certain there was only one little bubba, and I couldn't help to think how this was coming out, I scared myself silly. After out 16 week scan we found out we were having a little girl and name her then and there while watching her on the screen, it was amazing. The rest of the pregnancy was pretty much the same, I felt her first movements around the 18-week mark and as the weeks went by, the movements got stronger. I gained around 35kg during my pregnancy, most of it was fluid and I think a lot of it came from all the savory foods i ate. I carried full term and funny enough she was born on her due date, the 24th of August 2007.

The Birth

The labour was extremely long, like 28 hours long... my waters broke at 4.00pm on the 23rd of August... to be sure I hadn't pee'd myself my fiance took me to the hospital to get checked out and sure enough it wasn't pee... I was excited and scared and all sorts of crazy thoughts were coming into my head, I had a major fear of tearing, not so much worried about my sex life afterwards or the healing process, but the actual thought of it petrified me, the midwife reassured me everything would turn out fine and so I kept believing that. I was put on the machines to see how far apart and how strong my contractions were, they we're between 8-10 minutes, the midwife sent me home where I would be more comfortable until the contractions hit 2-3 minutes apart, lucky for us we only lived a few streets away from the hospital so it was no problem. I get home about 6.00pm and the contractions stay the same, I could still bare the pain, it wasn't that bad now that I think back. I found myself in the weirdest positions to control the contractions and at 2.00am I could no longer handle the pain so we left for the hospital. The midwife took us to our room where id be staying after the birth, I immediately took a shower, I sat there on the chair while my fiance watered down my back with the shower head, the hot water relieved a lot of back pain but after 2 hours it wasn't enough. I went into the birthing unit where I was taken to the birthing room, I went straight into the hot tub, and at this point it was 4.00am, I had the worst contractions and they were so close together, after 4 hours I was sure I was at least dilated half way, but to my surprise only 1 cm dilated and 100% effaced, I felt really sad, it had already been 16 hours and the pain was excruciating. I asked to be injected with morphine which knocked me out until 11.00am it also put the baby to sleep so my contractions completely stopped. The rest of the day was a blur, I remember throwing up everywhere and also having the doctor try and insert the epidural, after 6 attempts my fiance told him to stop. I remember around 4.00pm the midwife checked me again and I had dilated to 6 cm, it was hopeless; I lost all my energy and remember feeling like my baby was never coming out. She put me on a drip and upped the dose of Pitocin which was absolute hell, the only pain relief I had was the gas and it wasn't helping at all, the contractions were unbearable, I was in all sorts of weird positions to try and ease the pain but nothing worked. I remember hearing the midwife say if this baby wasn't out by 8.00pm I would be having a c-section, it scared me more than tearing, I dint want that to happen so I started walking around, (waddling in fact) so she could push down and I could dilate faster, within an hour I dilated another 4 cm and was ready to push. I have no idea where my energy came from but I pushed a good 40 minutes before her head came out, because I had no epidural and I wasn't allowed morphine, and also the gas had been turned down low, I felt everything, all at the same time it was a magical feeling but it hurt like hell, I was burning and all I could think about was that I was tearing from one end to the other, after hearing her cry I felt like I could accomplish anything, she was put onto my chest where she laid there for 20 minutes, it was unbelievable, she was perfect in every way and there was no tearing ;-) she weighed 3.5kg and 48cm long, she was born at 7.57pm, the whole experience was amazing and its true what they say, after the most horrific pain I've ever endured and after seeing her for the first time the pain just went away, but after all the excitement and meeting our little bundle of joy the best part of the whole birthing process was the placenta coming out, I felt like I had lost this huge weight gain, it was all an amazing experience. Will we have anymore children, I'm guessing a big yes but not anytime soon... maybe when Emilijana's about 2 ;-)

8 Months On

Well... its been a fast 8 months! Bubs is mumbling mama, dada and all sorts of words... she's not as yet crawling, I'm assuming because she's been in the walker from 4 months and hasn't built up her stomach muscles as of yet, she's still a little wobbly while sitting but she's getting there! Her eye's are still blue, hopefully they will stay that colour, mine and hubby's are green so her eye's being blue was not expected but they look amazing... Her hair is growing, i cant as yet put a little bow in her hair but i spike it up for her when we're out and about ;-) life couldn't be more happier for the 3 of us... its a beautiful thing!

Mothers Day!

I celebrated my first Mothers Day! I was so happy... soon after our daughter was born, my husband had 12 days until his first Fathers Day...but i had to wait a whole 8 months...lol It was a really sweet day apart from hubby having to work but it just meant i had bubs to myself ;-) we played and done our usual routines of feeding, sleeping and crying, thats what the joys of being a mum is all about... My mum came by later in the day and we strolled down to the local shopping center where we walked around for literally hours, then had lunch at the break wall... all the mums were out and about and for the first time i could say to myself 'I'm just like one of them'... i had a blast of a day, then when hubby came home it was a bigger blast... we played forever with bubs and wore her out good so she would sleep like an angel through the night... it worked, but my day wasn't yet complete... hubby still had a present to give me...it was the most sweetest card I'd ever read. I still keep it on my bed side table ;-)

11 Months On

Finally her tooth is here! It took a good 11 months but its here, only one though and its as sharp as a needle... she wasn't teething as bad as before when we thought her teeth were coming, 5 months ago. She's started standing on her own, and has taken 4 steps before falling straight on her bum ;-)

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Thanks so much for your complements on my page. I am very excited about becoming a mother. This is my first pregnancy and we are enjoying every minute of it. We also just got a camcorder and are making several recordings of events that have happened with the baby.

Your family looks beautiful in the pictures on your page. Take Care.
