My profile

Hi! My name is Amber and I have been referring to this website for quite some time. I am currently 34 weeks pregnant and have finally decided to join the site. My husband and I have been married for three years now and are expecting our first little one in a few short weeks. We are expecting a boy! His name will be Malachi Craig Rose. Anyhow, I look forward to chatting with all of you sweet mother's and mother's-to-be out there!

June 27, 2008

Well, I got absolutely nothing done today! What a lazy day this has been. I talked to one of my friends for five hours. I couldn't believe we had chatted that long. Before I knew it, it was dinner time. Thank goodness my husband works the night shift so I did not have to make dinner. Oh... and I found out that my good friend Emily had her baby on Wednesday. I am so excited for her, but even more anxious for mine to arrive. She sounded so tired. Poor thing. She was in labor for 31 hours! I hope mine does NOT last that long.

Pregnancy Survey

About You

Name?:
Amber

Age?:
25

Height?: 5'2.5''

Pre-pregnancy weight?:
135 lbs

About The Father

Name?:
Garret

Age?: 28

Height?: 6'6"

Are you still together?:
Of course! Happily married for 3 years now.

About Your Pregnancy

Is this your first pregnancy?:
Yes!

When did you find out you were pregnant?: Nov 27th, 2008

Was it planned?: It wasn't prevented. In a way, it was planned.

What was your first reaction?: I got really emotional and felt like crying. I don't know if it was the hormones or what. Maybe it was the shock that I was actually pregnant. I had been awaiting this day for a long time.

Who was with you when you found out?: No one, I was by myself. My husband was at work.

Who was the first person you told?: My husband.

How did your parents react?:
They were thrilled. This will make their first grandchild. My mom is especially excited to become a grandparent.

How far along are you?: 34 weeks

What was your first symptom?: an abnormal sense of smell. My own deodorant would make me naucious. I also noticed a little heaviness in my boobs.

What is your due date?:
July 22, 2008.

Do you know the sex of the baby?: Yes!

If so, what is it?: It's a boy!!

Have you picked out names?: Yes!

If so, what are they?: Malachi Craig Rose

How much weight have you gained?: 20 lbs so far.

Do you have stretch marks?: Not yet. I'm hoping to avoid them.

Have you felt the baby move?: Yes! I have one active little critter growing inside me. He moves constantly.

Have you heard the heartbeat?:
Yes!

About the birth

Will you keep the baby?:
Of course. I can not wait for him to be here.

What's the first thing you might say to him/her?: Hi Malachi. I'm your mommy. I love you so much!

Would you let someone videotape the birth?: No, I don't think that I would.

Are you excited about the birth, or scared?: Of course I'm excited. But it would be a lie to say that I am not at least a little bit scared. The whole labor thing puts my stomach in knots. But if I had to chose one over the other, I would say I am much more excited.

Home or hospital birth?: Hospital

Natural or medicated birth?: Not sure yet. I will try for natural, but in the end if I need the meds to help me along I am not opposed.

Who will be in the delivery room with you?: My husband and possibly mother.

Will you breastfeed?: Yes.

Do you think you'll need a c-section?:
No. I sure hope I don't. I hear the recovery is a nightmare.

Will you cry when you hold the baby for the first time?: I'm sure I probably will. But who knows. My reaction to finding out I was preggo was much different than I had expected.

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Sx

blessedmom2b - Sunday, 17 August
Hi! Thanks! I have not been on here in so long! Well, I'm starting to adjust to motherhood a bit. These first weeks have been hard for me - the first 3... the first 2 were really hard and this last one has been a bit better. :) He was susceptible to jaundice due to mine and my husband's blood types being + and - and so he had to go under this billirubin light at the hospital. They kept us an extra day to monitor and make sure the billirubin levels were coming down. The jaundice made him sleepy so he was always falling asleep while i was nursing. He lost a lot of weight (almost a lb!) those first days and so my pediatrician asked me to supplement with formula. My milk never came in enough either which was extremely disappointing. Now that I supplemented with formula like she asked me to, he won't take the breast...so I've been pumping what little I have. He's a great baby for the most part - he was just -very- hungry and wouldn't stop crying those first days home. We had no idea it was that b/c we don't have a way of weighing him at home. I've just about giving up on the breastfeeding thing. I'm glad you've had success with it. I was so determined to do it exclusively too and actually enjoyed it. But it has not been all bad although I've been writing about the complications for the most part. My labor was 11 hours (which I consider short) although it seemed like longer b/c my water broke 30 min after I arrived at the hospital and that made the contractions more painful. I labored w/out pain relief for 6 or so hours and then decided I had to have the epi! :) The epi only took on ONE side so he had to redo it but it def eased some of the pain. What it did, though, is give me an extreme uncontrollable urge to push...which was very hard. He is a very healthy little boy though and has been such a blessing to us...even with the difficult adjustments. He is a little wonder and motherhood def has its rewards :) Can you believe it's almost been a month?? It's so hard to believe. Well, I guess it has been a month for you now. Well, I'll go ahead and add this comment since it's forever long...sorry about that - Have a great rest of the weekend. Your little guy is so cute by the way!!

blessedmom2b - Friday, 1 August

blessedmom2b - Thursday, 24 July
I'm thinking you must have delivered! You haven't been on in a while so I sure hope for you that that is the case! Our baby is still in the oven - but if it goes into 41 weeks doc will talk about induction. I hope it doesn't come to that! I hope all is well and that you and baby are doing well (in or out of your womb!)

molly2416 - Thursday, 24 July
THANKS SO MUCH!!! My mom is doing better. My parents got their power back after not having it for a little over two days. My mom was down to only having 1 tank of oxygen. There are so many familys that lost so much. I hope to take some pictures and post them so you guys can see. I'm to thankful that my family is ok now. I hope to get on often so I can catch up on everything. CONGRATS to those of you that have had your little ones and I thinks its great that I have such awsome friends on this site. THANKS again. Molly and Molly's Family

I'm trying to catch up on all my messages. Sorry I havn't been on much nor for very long we had a really bad wind storm and my parents still don't have power. Ours has been working its been an off and on thing. It might be a little while when I can sit down and catch up but I will do my best. Please keep my mom in your prayers her name is Mary and she's on oxygen and is running low and she needs power and soon. Alot of homes had alot of damage from the 90 mph winds we had MANY trees have been up rooted.

blessedmom2b - Monday, 21 July
Wow that is a scary situation to find yourself in! I always wonder that sometimes - but end up just chalking it up to sweating in the night or whatever. I'm glad you called yoru doctor just to make sure, though. At least you lost your mucus plug! Progression is progression no matter what angle you look at it! I've lost a ton of mine over the last 2 and a half days so that is exciting! Now I wonder if the baby dance is off limits?? hmm... I just posted this question for everyone - we'll see what people think!

blessedmom2b - Saturday, 19 July
Well, I made no progress since last week which shocked me since I had my first painful contraction this morning at 9 am! He was shocked that I made it through the weekend. Now he's not 'on call' til Monday and I'm not crazy about the doctor that -is- on call this weekend. It is what it is. I've been really emotional and weepy today - upset that my baby is already over 7 lbs according to what the doc thinks - but they really are never that accurate. I am having some contractions now but I'm tired of getting my hopes up. Lets hope the full moon myth/theory (or whatever it is) does its thing tonight:)
