I had a miscarriage in July. I was about 10 weeks when I found out. During my first ultrasound, I was told that the fetus and yolk sac had never developed. My body never got the message that I was no longer pregnant. I decided to have a D & C because my body had not miscarried naturally.

After waiting 3 months to start trying again, me and Tim decided that we would not try to get pregnant, but not prevent it either. Long story short and 2 unprotected nights, I tested positive on November 17th with my second pregnancy. I was on a trip to Nashville to visit my cousin and sent a picture of the pregnancy test to Tim. When I called him, he acted like he did not see it. Then he started laughing...We have decided not to tell anyone until we are at 12 weeks, just because of what happened before. Okay, my cousin Haley, aunt Lee, and neice Rilie are in the know. I also told my friend Tonya...hopefully they can keep it a secret until January! Oh yeah, Tim told Seth and Seth told Jennifer...lol

Having the miscarriage in July has made me super paranoid. When the doctors office opened on Monday (11/19), I called and talked to Angie (the best dr's. office lady in the world). She told me that the dr. wanted me to go get some blood tests and come in on Tuesday to review them. My HCG levels were around 500 which Dr. Bradshaw said was good. I gave more blood the Friday (I feel like a keg) after Thanksgiving and Angie called me at 8 AM to tell me my HCG levels were over 2100 on Monday and I went in at 9 AM to have my first ultrasound. At this time, all I could see was the yolk sac. I am going to give more blood tomorrow and hopefully my HCG levels will be in the 3000's...

Today was my first day back to work, vacation over after 12 days! Cramps in my lower area, bb pains off and on, and I think about eating all the time! Oh yeah, my belly button tingles! My friend January also asked me if we had good news yet?! I had to tell her a little white lie for now...:)

Thursday, 29 Nov

Emily called me today around 10 AM and said that my test results are great. My HCG count is over 17,000! I called Tim and told him we were having twins!! He laughed and then said not really???? LOL Symptoms today are tiredness, belly button tingle, and restless legs… I am finally feeling like I might become a mom!!

Well, this has been a nice weekend. Tim was duck hunting with Seth and Michael and I got the entire weekend to myself. I admit, I did not do much of anything. I did go to Bojangles for a gravy, sausage, egg biscuit. I was craving one! LOL This morning I felt alittle sick. Not sure if it was from my prenatal pill or brushing my teeth. Still have the restless legs and some cramping ever now and again. I relaxed in the hottub for over an hour on Saturday and Sunday. Don't worry, we turned the heat down to 95 degrees, per Dr. Bradshaw it is perfectly fine as long as the temp does not exceed your body temp. I can smell everything too now. Clorine in the shower, stuff like that. It was nice to rest this weekend. Next week we are busy.

Tuesday, 4 Dec
Me and Tim just got home from our ultra sound visit, which was at 330 today. First thing I saw was the heartbeat! Dr. Bradshaw said everything looked great and the miscarriage rate just dropped to 5%. Now it is starting to sink in! Tim was just very passive about it and smiled alot. Oh, and we got a picture!

Tuesday, 11 Dec
This week is very different. I have burped more in this week than I have my entire life. I get the sick feeling in the afternoon, after 2ish. But other than that, everything seems normal. Just waiting till my next dr.'s visit on 1/7...

Friday, 28 Dec
wow! Christmas is over and we managed to keep our secret for at least a few more weeks. I feel fine some days and sick the others. Like today, I could puke just thinking about food. I can manage to hold it down for my baby `s sake but still would like to do it just once to see if it makes me feel better. I thought Tim was going to tell everyone at Joan `s house Sunday. Marcie was saying that she was going to sale Jack `s baby stuff at a yard sale. Then Marcie told us about a girl she knows that had a miscarriage after us that was pregnant again. She is due after we are. Week 10, whahoo! Cannot wait till I get some more energy. I cannot get off the couch and normally would be out shopping, but not know. Later...

Tuesday, 8 Jan

Several things to say today. First, I talked to January on the 4th and she questioned why Tim was at the dr `s office. So, I had to tell her everything. So to my dr `s appointment this morning, it was horrible. Long story short, no heartbeat. I had to go the the ultrasound room and thank goodness Dr. B found the baby and everything was fine. He said my bladder was so full he could not hear! I think I felt my first chest pain today. I got 2 more pictures today that I plan to upload in a couple days. I could see legs and arms just moving around. Tim thought the pictures were something else. After I talked to January the same thing happened to her and Scott with the heart beat.

The first picture below was at 5-6 weeks. The other two was at 11 weeks...

Sunday, 11 January
This morning is the first day I had morning sickness. I threw up in the shower. It was nasty lets just leave it at that!
!

Saturday, 19 January
We told the family today. We told Tim `s family at Jack `s bday party and told my family on the phone.

Wednesday, 20 Feb

feb. 4th - just a normal visit. Had to give blood for antibody levels and decided to take the Tetra test. Everything came back normal and my antibody levels have not increased.

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi, thanks for your message. You've had more replies than I have to my question!! ;)
A GP friend of mine suggested magnesium or calcium, but wanted me to check with chemist first (electrolytes and blood pressure). She said it is fine, 300mg every other day.
Had three bouts of it last night, 2 sessions on the sofa. Luckily I don't sleep with a large knife beside me as amputation seems very appealing at 2 am! I think I only slept in the end through exhaustion. Only bought the tablets today, so fingers crossed.
PS Read your blog so far and delighted that it is all going well for you.

Hello this is my second pregnancy and again have restless leg syndrome. The only thing that I find that works the best is to eat a banana half hour before bed. I was told to do this from swimmers who get leg cramps and it seems to work almost everytime.

Angiepangie - Tuesday, 6 May
Restless leg syndrome has been linked to vitamin deficiencies, specifically B6, iron, magnesium, potassium and folate (folic acid). All of which can be depleted during pregnancy. If you aren't taking a multivitamin, it is never to late to start. If you are, you may want to consider changing when you take it...with food is best, as it increases your absorption of its ingredients. Last but not least, now would be a great time to start taking red raspberry leaf, either in capsule form or as a tea. Its proven empirically safe and helps to strengthen and tone the uterus for birth...it also just happens to have all of the vitamins and minerals I've listed as possible deficiencies causing restless leg! I've taken red raspberry leaf and nettle during both my pregnancies, and it really does help.

I can relate some what I lost a couple pounds in the first trimester as I was not all that hungry I did not have sickness but just did not want to eat much. I am in the second trimester by a couple weeks and I saw the scale go up 1 or 2 pounds so I hope I do not start to gain too much too soon. congrats and good luck.

wandksos - Friday, 1 Feb
hey! i just wanted to say that i know completely how you feel. i had a miscarriage in july and am scared to death with this one. i did not have any morning sickness and haven't felt the baby move. i don't really look pregnant...don't have a 'bump'...just getting thick and feeling really fat. i just don't feel pregnant at all. i am just trying to stay calm and not over react. i'm sure we are both fine! by the way, i graduated from UGA in 1999. i live in augusta, ga now. where are you? did you go to school there?

langiel - Friday, 1 Feb
Well thank you for the information. It is much appreciated. I will try not to worry so much!

Hello
Blood wasnt getting to him and thats why he died. In this pregnancy they did more blood tests and they found out that my blood is not liquid enough and it can clot. Im drinking a pill to liquid my blood and i have a follow up appt with the blood doc in 2 weeks to see how im doing. Im pretty sure it was because of that but i didnt want an autopsy. I didnt want them to be experimenting w/ my baby. It was horrible to be waiting for so long for my baby and then all of a sudden he was born dead. That is horrible and i wouldnt want anyone to go through that. Its very painful. It wasnt meant to be and now im starting to accept that. I have faith that everything will be ok with this baby. (Im keeping my fingers crossed)

Good Luck to u and thanks for writing.
Take Care and Dont Worry, everything will be ok with u.

hi, i still am not in maternity clothes. i am wearing all my jeans and havent gained any weight. i actually lost 5 lbs when i got sick with a cold, gained back 4, then i recently lost 3 again. not doing anything different and havent had any nausea. this is my second pregnancy and they said i would show right away, guess they were wrong. take it as a good thing that you are still small. may be you wont get any stretch marks!

cosmomama - Sunday, 27 Jan
hi! I saw your post about not showing. i personally am, but it just happened all of a sudden. cant fit any of my old pants but I also stopped getting sick in week 9. I was sick as a dog, and then it just stopped. So, i think if you were sick a lot in your first trimester, not showing or gaining any weight is normal from what I've been told. Some women lose weight. I did while I was sick...but I guess I've had 5 weeks to gain it back without being sick lol. Take it as a good thing, you dont have to worry about too much weight gain!

nadiaandbrian - Monday, 17 Dec
I just came across your question about puking. When I was 8 weeks I was wanting to die since the nausea was so bad. After puking I then felt guilty that my baby wasn't getting any nutrients so I held on as long as I could but to be honest I felt much better after puking.

MelisaK - Monday, 17 Dec
Puking might help temporarily. But I wouldn't count on it being for very long!!! Good luck, m/s sucks! Although it tends to reassure us that everything is ok.
