*Home From the Hospital* weighed: 7 pounds 9 ounces ( 51st percentile) length: 19.5 inches ( 39th percentile) head circ: 36 centimeters ( 78th percentile) development:April 18, 2008- first sponge bath and he loves his swing. They were a little worried because Sean lost a whole pound since birth and he was a little juandice. They have me supplementing him with formula until my milk finishes coming in. I was really surprised to how he did once we came home. He was doing the opposite of what was expected. They told me he should urinate alot and poop often. He did that backwards. Than I was so worried about his weight that I set an alarm to make sure he would get all his feedings at night. Thats right I woke the baby up to feed him. lol He also received his first hepatitis B shot they day he was born.
5 days old
*Week 1* *April 21- 27* (Dr visit April 21 at 1:30- 1 week check up) weighed: 8 pounds 5 ounces ( 71st percentile) development: If we dont change his diaper fast, we all get a bath!! We have had trouble this week with his bottom being red. We have been caking on the desitin and baby powder but it still stays red. He poops constantly, I know thats the problem. Thank goodness he has regained his weight back QUICKLY! Thanks to my milk coming in the doctors are off my back and I have stopped the formula. They made me strip him down and he peed all over the doctors office! What can I say He's a boy! He was still a little juandice but they said it would get better with time.
*Week 2* *April 28 - May 4* (Dr visit May 1 at 10:30 - projectile vomiting) weighed: 10 pounds 7 ounces (93rd percentile) development:May 1 - lost his umbilical cord, moved up to size 1 diapers, and found out he is lactose intolerant. Sean has been a very good baby and surprisingly calm (unlike in the womb). He just started projectile vomiting this week, it was crazy! He was shooting across the room. He became very fussy and I am worrying about colic? The doctor obviously was not too worried about the vomiting because he has gained quite a bit of weight. So pyloric stenosis is not a worry!! He told me to stop eating diary products and see what happens. Also gas drops have become our new bestfriend :) **UPDATE**- it worked! He also had his first Kentucky Derby on May 3. He was a good luck charm cause we picked the winner!! He also went to Mommies work for the first time and got shown off.
*Week 3* *May 5 - 11* development: May 5 - Sean has really been gaining a personality! He has been smiling quite a bit and really following you with his eyes. He likes sitting up in his bouncy seat so he can see what is going on. He is very nosey May 7 - He has been giggling in his sleep, so sweet! He can also put a good amount of weight on his legs when you stand him up. He is holding his head up for a good 15 seconds before headbutting you. May 9 - He loves being sung and hummed too and I CANT SING lol May 11 - His first Mothers Day with MOMMY!! They made me my favorite omelete and baby Sean does not tolerate eggs very well either :(
**Week 4 - 1 Month** *May 12 - 18* (Dr visit May 16 at 10:15 - 1 month check up) weighed: 13 pounds 4 ounces (96th percentile) length: 22.75 inches (66th percentile) head circ: 39 centimeters (45th percentile) development: May 14- he finally realized that his mobile was in his crib and he followed it great! The way he moves his tongue around in his mouth and out of his mouth while he is concentrating on the mobile cracks me up! May 15- his first playdate with Arayna. They are the same size and she is 2 months older than him lol May 17- his first road trip (2.5 hrs) to see Grandma and Grandpa Thompson, he did such a good job!
*Week 5* *May 19 - 25* development: May 21 -Sean came to Mommies work today. (I am an assistant director at a daycare facility) I brought him in so we could get his pictures made on picture day. I knew he was not going to really smile because he is so little still, but anything to document this time in his life. I brought a bunch of different outfits because I did not know what the background was going to be. Most of my outfits were blue and I had one that was yellow. Of course the background was blue. So he wore the yellow duckie outfit that was his older brothers. I thought that was sweet! May 23 -I was in the other room when I heard him giggling at his mobile. It was so funny. I wonder what he is thinking in that little head of his. Along with his giggling he has been smiling so much more. It takes some work though because Sean is very serious lol May 25 -We had our first cookout since chunky munky was born. He did great!! He loved all the attention he got and he loves to be outside in the sun. Today was the first day that Sean has ever exploded, of course it would be the day that I have him dressed up all cute for family, all the way up to his shoulder blades. It was a mess! Boys will be Boys :)
*Week 6* *May 26 - June 1* development: May26 -Today was Sean's first Memorial Day. We had a cookout at home with his grandmother, aunt, uncle, and cousin. The weather was mostly good, except for the one thunderstorm. May 28 -Back To Work! I hate to say it, but the 6 weeks is already over. Thats so sad :( But the good news is, baby Sean comes to work with mommy!! This should make breastfeeding so much easier. The day went great and I unexpectedly was glad to be back. May 31 -Babies are so sweet when they wake up first thing in the morning. This morning, my love smiled and actually giggled a little :) Im so in love <3 On the non side of mushy things I had to move chunky butt up to size 2 diapers!! So what happens once we get past size 6 . . . depends??? lol
*Week 7* *June 2 - 8* development: June 7 -Sean really enjoys it when I sing to him. Which I really don't know why because I cant carry a tune to save my life. lol But I'm thinking that while he was inuetero he heard me singing all the time to the kids at work and somehow it is soothing to him. So I sing to him. How can I not, right?Today he actually kind of giggled at me when we were playing pat-a-cake. It was precious. But maybe in all reality he was laughing at me because i can't sing! Now there's a thought. He has also really started enjoying bath time this week. My first son hated bath time (and still does), but Sean was actually kicking his legs and pushing himself deeper into the water today. I just sit there and watch him with the biggest smile on my face.
**8 Weeks - 2 Months** *June 9 - 15* development: June 9 -I got him these toys that hang from his carseat to look at and I never imagined that he would already be smacking at them, but he is!! One of the toys I bought has this chime in it and when I'm driving down the road I hear that chime and it just brings a smile to my face. I can't believe how aware he is becoming. Not only that but when you really get his attention and start talking to him he coo's and babble's back at you. You can see the concentration on his face when he is trying to make noises. He wants to talk so bad. I
know the doctors tell you not too but I have been offering him one 4
ounce water bottle a day and he usually drains it. I don't see how it
could possibly hurt. June 10 -Its official Sean has his first cold today. He woke up snorting and coughing and sneezing today. I had to use the saline drops and the bulb suction to help him breathe. That really made him mad! I felt awful for doing it but it had to be done. I called the dr after his symptoms lasted a couple days and they told me as long as he was still eating and not running a fever that they would not do anything. So I have been giving him some baby tylenol, suctioning him every couple hours, and propping him up when he sleeps. Mason never had a cold when he was a baby, this is all so NEW to me. Since we are talking about health issues. Sean has gone from pooping every diaper to now pooping every 4 - 5 days. I will ask the doctor about this. June 15 -Happy Fathers Day to all the new Daddies out there!! We got our new daddy a mushy card :) He loved it. We went out to eat and visited my dad.
*Week 9* *June 16 - 22* (Dr visit June 16 at 9:45 - 2 month check up) weighed: 15 pounds 12 ounces (97th percentile) length: 24.25 inches (77th percentile) head circ: 41 centimeters (59th percentile) His percentiles are holding steady!! The dr told me not to worry about the constipation that he is just absorbing everything he needs. He received four shots and the oral vaccine. The next day he was the crankiest little booger. He wouldn't let me put him down, even for a second. I felt awful for him. June 21-22 -My family rented a cabin on the river for the weekend. We spent the night and also had a luau. Sean and Mason both did great on their night away from home. Mason got in the water, but the water was too chilly to put Sean in. But don't worry he wasn't mistreated at all over the weekend. Between my mom, my sister, my brothers girlfriend, and my step sister, there was always someone loving on the baby :)
*Week 10* *June 23 - 29* This was the first week that Brandon went out of town for work since Sean has been born. So it was up to me to rally both of the boys and continue on our daily routine. Needless to say I didn't do TOO bad, everyone was fed, and bathed, but the house was definetly neglected! development: June 26 -We went to grandma's house and my brother was making Sean giggle and talk like no one I have ever seen before. Why does he laugh at him so much? Is it because he's funny lookin? Maybe. My brother seems to think that its his deeper voice. My answer is, my brother always talked to Sean when he was in my belly, I think he recognizes his voice. Its Love :) June 27 -It was just about bedtime and he was sitting in his bouncy seat, he started sucking on his hand. It was so loud! I have heard him do it before, but this time he did it for a really long time and took turns on all of his fingers. What a cutie!
*Week 11* *June 30 - July 6* Since I have been feeling pretty crappy this week with all my issues, I realized how important of a role that Brandon plays in our lives. I Could have never asked for a better dad for my sons. I can really just watch his face light up when he plays and talks with Sean. Then I sit back and wonder why he's so rotten . . . lol development: July 1 -Sean was kicking so hard in his little bath tub tonight that he was almost pushing himself over the hump and into the deep end. I think I may have a fishy on my hands! July 2 -He has started opening his mouth (and at times sticking his tongue out) when I lean forward to give him kisses. I have started kissing him on both cheeks and he thinks its funny. Baby kisses are the BEST! July 4 -This weekend my mom and step dad went out of town so we stayed at her house and babysat the dogs (her babies..lol). Besides the fact that it rained all day, Sean absolutely loved the fireworks while Mason HATED every second. I never would have guessed that outcome. July 5 -The weather finally cleared up enough today for us to go swimming in the neighborhood pool. The water was a little cold for my liking, but Brandon and Mason were going to town. As I was trying to ease myself into the water Mason was telling me how to jump into the pool (of course I was not going fast enough for his liking). We bought Sean this little inflatable crab thing for him to sit in. Which really didn't work out too well because he was more or less just laying there sucking on the raft..lol But he loved the water until he fell asleep!
*Week 12* *July 7 - July 13* Sean has started a very strange sleeping pattern this week and so far no matter what I have done I have been unable to shake him from it. He sleeps ALL night, which is not bad don't get me wrong, he may wake up once to eat but then goes right back to sleep with no fuss. Then during the day he refuses to take a nap. He fights me so bad and he is so tired, it just doesn't make any sense. When I do finally get him down he will sleep about 20 minutes at the most. He is rotten and nosey. I think he is just afraid he will miss something. Then when we get home he crashes. Silly Boy! He went swimming for the second time this weekend and for the second time fell asleep . . . lol development: July 8 - Because we live in the Ohio Valley we are prone to severe and threatening weather. So far this year we have gotten off pretty lucky, until today. We have had our first bout with severe thunderstorms since Sean has been born. No tornado warnings....yet....Just bad wind, hail, lightening, etc. Thank goodness we have a basement. July 12 - He had such a big day today! He had his first professional photo shoot for his 3 month photos (below). He did very well, but at the same time was done after about 15 minutes. He made some of the funniest faces, you could almost hear what he was thinking. He also got to get on my moms houseboat for the first time. The rocking didn't seem to bother him at all, even though I don't have my sea legs..lol It was so hot though we left and went to the pool to go swimming again. Also today he had his first formula bottle :( I was hoping I would be able to breastfeed until he was about 6 months to a year, but I think he is starting to give me signs that I am not making enough for him anymore. So I tried him on some formula to see how he would tolerate it. He did very well, taking 5 OUNCES, but it broke my heart to do it. Maybe I can get my milk back up . . . sigh
**13 Weeks - 3 Months** *July 14 - July 20* This past week has been really hard on me. Sean has been really cranky and I finally came to the conclusion that he is not getting enough to eat from me breastfeeding him. So I began to supplement him some with formula/breastmilk after I would feed him...and then...HE GOT SMART. He has realized that eating from a bottle is not only easier, but its more filling. So he has now begun to fight me everytime I start to feed him. I think are breastfeeding days are over, but I must say I am really proud of myself for making it this far. It obvious my CHUNKY MUNKY has been getting some great nutrition! development: July 15 - Sean has started this non-stop drooling all the sudden. Its so bad that today I actually had to put a bib on him. So I felt around in his mouth a little for any signs of teeth and believe it or not he has some swollen gums on the bottom. So I have gotten him some baby orajel. I know it can take months for teeth to come in, but just in case :) July 17 - While I was at work this week I noticed that not only can Sean grab at the toys on the bouncy seat but he was ACTUALLY pulling them to his mouth to suck on them. I can't believe how big he is getting! He also does the same thing to his binky when its on his little connector cord so we won't lose it. He is also pulling mine and daddy's hands to his mouth to suck on when he can reach them. Today I also found that he is drinking anywhere from 4-5 ounces a feeding. July 18 - Its so funny Brandon decided he wants me to send him a daily pic of Sean on his cell phone, so I am. He is so cute when he shows how in love he is with Sean. While at work he got a little fussy and I couldn't seem to get him content anywhere so I took a chance and put him in the johnny jumper. Would you know HE LOVED IT. He didn't really jump, but loved sitting up and swinging around. July 19 - I noticed while practicing to sit him up against his boppy today that he loves to try and sit, but once he gets tired he will push so hard with his feet that pushes himself into a lying position. He is so funny. Then tonight while we were relaxing on the couch he was smacking at the remote so hard that he actually pushed the buttons (turning it on Andy Griffith) July 20 - Sean attended his first baby shower, except for his own :) He enjoyed everyone talking to him and playing with him.

roro73 - Friday, 4 July My doc said just go and get the completion of the anatomy done even though we completed it. It's like going for a 2nd opinion. It's a plus for us that we get to see him again. We had to go to another office.
What do you think about us going for the 4D and paying for it? my doc will do it at 34W.
Nicole2216 - Friday, 4 July goodness GRACIOUS i swear i am going to stress myself into preterm labor. He wasnt moving AGAIN. And i had alot of pressure so we went in the L&D.. his heartbeat was ranging from the LOW 120's to 150.. i freaked out becuase id never seen his HB so low.. the nurse kepy reassuring me that it is a good thing and as he gets bigger the heartbeat slows down and he was probably in his sleep cycle.. but i am not used to change and i still get scared. Then i went in for my weekly NST this morning and his heartbeat was in the 150s-170s.. what is going on!!
kallie711 - Friday, 4 July :-( no baby yet! We were at the doc today and he said that if something didn't happen this weekend that he would put prostogland (or whatever you call it) gel on my cervix next week and have us walk for a while then break my water on Thurs or Friday (or even Wed)! So..... soon we'll see her!!! Sorry I have not been on-- I am just swamped with stuff to do and so tired when I'm done working-- thanks for checking on me though! I hope you're doing well with the little ones!

It is supposed to go away before they are born. I am hoping that I don't have to go back for a 3rd time, but it is ok. I love watching him move around. :o)

roro73 - Wednesday, 2 July What happened the 2nd time that he was in the same position? did they make you come back again?
roro73 - Wednesday, 2 July I hope he cooperates next time. It was a big trip. Someone said to have a can of coke and some candy. That will get him going. LOL!
mzblondex - Wednesday, 2 July oh yeah. He's ok he just real bad pains in his arm and leg so it makes it hard for him to work enough to make enough money to pay rent anywhere. He is still able to use his arms and legs, they just hurt. At times the pains tolerable, sometimes he's almost in tears. He takes pain meds for the pain everyday but it don't completely take the pain away. It sucks to see him hurt!
