Christopher Kekoa ka 'Ahu 'ula-O-Kalani nui Mehameha Mitchell was born on Sunday November 4th at 1:27pm! He weighed 8lbs 11oz and was 20.5in long. He is my perfect little boy. It is so amazing I have never seen a more sweet little child then Kekoa. He never cries which I know will change but for the time being he is perfect. He sleeps about 22 hours a day which I know is insane. We have to set an alarm to wake him for night time feedings. Because he was born by c-section my milk is having problems coming in so right now we are having problems latching him and having to suppliment with formula and pumping. I feel like I pump all the time just for him to drain it. It is a good cause though. My sweet angel is well worth the cause.

4 months old!! I can't believe it is already spring time. My little boy is growing so fast. As for breastfeeding, we beat the odds. He is now only on breastmilk with two bottles a day at day care. It is such a wonderful feeling to accomplish this feat. It was just a weak sucker at the beginning and needed time to grow. And that he is doing. He is trying to sit up and stand! We are going to his check up on Friday but last time I weighed him he is was 15lbs and 27in long. WOW! My big boy. I love him to death. Oh and he is still the sweet little angel. Only cries when he is hungry, tired or hurting. We all just got over the flu and poor little guy tried his hardest to be happy during it. We survived.

8Months Old! Time is flying so fast. I'm on here everyday but I never have time to update my profile. It's usually jump on and off. HAHA! So let's see. What has been going on? Christopher Kekoa turns 8months on the 4th of July. He is cruising like a pro and starting to let go of the furniture. He has two teeth and cutting the third. He's still an angel. He loves everyone and brightens all our lives. Ok, so babies think but what do they think about? With Kekoa it's weird. You look into his eyes and it seems like there is much more going on then a lot of babies his age. It's awesome watching him figure things out. We have one smart cookie on our hands. He is now over 20lbs now and just moved to his big boy seat. We bought the Britax Boulevard. It's a beast but it is the safest on the market right now and I love it! As for our biggest challenge, it's no more! We are still breastfeeding and going strong! He is eating solids like a pro although he doesn't have a big belly yet. He's saving room for his teen years. I'm still working but I am paying down debt and hopefully a little while after we buy a house I can quit. YAY! That is my #1 goal. I want to be a stay at home Mommy.....

This is Joe and I on our wedding day and our wedding party! The center lady in red was 8months pregnant with my nephew. The other two munchkins are mine three year old niece and nephew. How cute!

He is 7cm (2.8in.) long and has a heart beat of 168. And this is my three month belly!! Baby Mitchell at 11.5 weeksy shot.

Above are two of my 20week pictures. We are having a boy!! The photos are his profile and his little baby parts. Ahhh how cute! His weight is 13oz. and his heartbeat is 145bpm.

So you all asked...Here is my belly at 20weeks 2 days.

I finally took a 26week belly photo. Getting bigger!!

4D ultra sound at almost 29 weeks! I have so many pictures (60) it was so hard to choose ones to put up on the site but above is the first photo they took, before we woke him up. Next to it is a picture of him smiling after he woke up.

These two pictures are of Kekoa sucking his thump and yawning.

mamasuzy - Saturday, 10 May
ive been dairy/soy free for about five months now..the beginning is frustrating but after a while it just becomes a way of life..and boyyy is it good for weightloss!! i just hope she grows out of it by a year or so..even nutramigen (the formula for kids like her) has soy oil in it..and gives her tummy aches, so my breastmilk is real critical.
anyway i hope the chronic diarrhea goes away...this might be a silly question but how do u know its diarrhea and not the normal runny breastmilk stools? i always wondered that with my daughter...best of luck to ya!

mamasuzy - Saturday, 10 May
my daughter is allergic to dairy...and when they told me that, i did what u did...had alottta soy..well whaddya know she is now allergic to soy too (i suspect she got sensitized by me having so much of it)...sooo if it makes ya feel better i can no longer have butter, milk, cheese, cold cuts (they have casein/whey=milk protein)...andd on top of that i cant have soy...which is in more food than u can think of (peruse ur pantry if ur ever bored...ull find soybean oil is in almost EVERYTHING that comes in a package)..and most restaurants/fastfood places use it in almost EVERYTHING..after much research the only thing i can eat outside the house is chik fil a fries!...so think of me if the dairy thing gets too hard, things could be worse ;)

Thank you for your comment, it is amazing how women who have never met can reach out and give support! it really sucks what has happened I honestly hate them both right now and trust me leaving sounds good it is just hard with 5 kids and if I thought I could I would make him leave , i forgot to mention that my sister lives 2 doors down from me so I get to look at her house daily and think of it! anyway thank you for your comment

I think as long as your son isn't fussy eat whatever you want. I think babies are normally a little gassy. There are a lot of things that do make my son gassy and fussy but citrus fruits don't make the list.

littlecavalier - Monday, 5 May
I also make my own baby food and instead of peeling and boiling sweet potatoes and squash I just bake them in the oven and then scoop them out. They do take a while to bake but I feel like it's easier than peeling and the one website said that baking makes them taste sweeter (don't really know if that's true or not). My son's favorite thing ever is half of an avocado and half a banana both fresh and just fork mashed. Avocado is great for constipation too :-), sorry if that's tmi.

Thank you so much for posting about breastfeeding. My baby is 4 weeks old and we are having such a difficult time. I've cried and cried and I don't want to give up but you're right--this is the hardest thing I've ever done. Everybody keeps telling me it will get better...here's to trying!

Thank you

thanks...i finally was able to get him to drink 4 ounces and he seemed better spirited now. oh what a long day i am soooooooo tired. LOL.

niseybear - Friday, 2 May
I'm going with JH on the time it takes to prepare the food. It takes longer to prepare the sweet potatoes and apples because you have to skin or peel them first. Things like prunes you just throw in the pot, cook for about 5-7 minutes let cool a bit and then puree in the blender. Definitely have to add LOTS of water for the prunes...they are thick! Getting them out of the ice cube tray was a bitch! LOL I'll have to thin it even more next time. Bananas are even easier....cut and mash as you need. I don't store those ahead of time. If you don't have time to do the apples, buy applesauce for adults. Just make sure it has two to three ingredients ONLY~~~apples, water, and absorbic acid. You can just take what you need and go! I'm at home with Mo during the day so I have plenty of time if I can keep him occupied, otherwise I do his stuff at night when hubby is home while Mo is asleep. I work nights Tue-Thur so that's usually when I do it. Mondays are actually better because I'm off and have MUCH more time once hubby comes home. Start with something that takes a little more time~~~sweet potatoes~~~and see how you do. Now those I don't puree, I just mash with a huge serving fork. I add water once I'm ready to feed it to Mo and it works just as well. I have several websites that I get recipes from, but most is basic knowledge. Cook fruit or veggies til tender, let cool about 10 minutes and then mash or puree. Let me know if you'd like the websites or have any other questions.

Thank for the info bri!!

Hi! I was reading about how you keep track of your baby when he feeds. I do the same with mine (She is 11 weeks). She would just continue to eat if I let her. I usually let her feed up to 25 mins on the first side and switch as well. How do you gage if he has gotten enough? I know my baby is getting enough because she is in the 97th percentile, but it would be nice to have another opinion. I read your posts all of time and I really appreciate all of your good advise. Thanks so much!
Kathleen

a great website that i visit...helped me to get started... www.wholesomebabyfood.com they have recipes, tips on how to store...everything you need to know.

JH - Thursday, 1 May
well, for instance...how long does it take you to skin apples and cut them up? boil them for ~30 minutes. take about ~10 minutes to puree and fill up the ice trays. put in the freezer over night. takes about 5 minutes to put them into baggies. the batch i made today will last him about 2 weeks. the sweet potatoes i make will last about 1.5 weeks. there is a little time involved...but if you can do it...you will find it very rewarding.

missnana - Thursday, 1 May

sonya75 - Tuesday, 29 April
Thank you for the advice on the plugged duct. It used to happen all the time with my son, but this is the first time with my daughter. And it hurt so much more for some reason. I actually had to stop working on it for a few hours. Then when my daughter nursed again, it just came out! Such relief. I was really beginning to worry.

michaela - Friday, 25 April
They really do grow quick, Sabah will be 6 months on tuesday (29th). She loves to stand and sit up, although she needs support, she's not keen on lying down at all. As yet she hasn't shown any interest in crawling or even rolling completely over. I'm not back to work until the end of July, to be honest there are times that i do crave adult company, i've got a good circle of friends who recently had babies so we meet for coffee or lunch regularly which helps my sanity. We are heading off on Holiday in November- a cruise in the caribbean, i'm hoping she'll be slow on the walking as she'll be 13 months then. She was slow at the eating too, she's only gone to 3 meals a day today, as every time before she either refuse or was sick. All the best and talk to you again soon. xx

michaela - Friday, 25 April
He's just soooo cute, gonna break a few hearts when he's older!!!

bellybumbles - Thursday, 24 April
i was reading your comment about self reliance and i totally agree and could write a thesis on that topic, lol. especially working in education :P I'm hoping our generation is the revolution that raises their kids to understand that you need to work hard to get 1st place, or a job, or anything. I'm so tired of everybody 'making the team', and everybody getting awards, it makes even the best people lazier and encourages mediocracy. ugh! lol. other than that, aren;t the babies so fun?! lol. have a good day! and sorry for the ramble.

babyJSL - Thursday, 24 April
Bri ~You should get the plastic Born Free bottle. The plastic one are BPA free as well. You don't need to switch to glass if you are switching to Born Free. All Born Free, including the plastic are bpa free. I don't recommend glass because the glass bottle are heavy and worst of all, it will make you paranoid every time you are holding it. Paranoid that you might brake it. Believe me, I've tried it. It drove me crazy when I leave the glass bottle out on the table when I just need to step out for a second. Also when I'm waste it, I try not to touch the glass bottle against the sink. Paranoid!

bigbellyjess - Wednesday, 23 April
Bri- I can't believe she put her knuckles in your childs mouth. HANDS ARE SO DAMN DIRTY!!!!!!!! That pisses me off and when I see parents do it especially while they're shopping in grocery stores or walking down the street it makes me even crazier because you know they have been touching money, groceries, railing for going up stairs..... I would freak out if anyone did that to my baby and you should too!!!!
