My profile

How do I'm 29 and currently expecting our first child. Me and my fella Dave got together last year and although the pregnancy was unplanned & a little sooner than we had expected we are delighted.

How`s my pregnancy doing?

Our daughter (yes we know she is a girl) is due somewhere between 18th - 23 rd September this year! We had the usual 2 scans from the hospital but baby decided she wanted to keep her sex a secret and crossed her legs both times. So the only impatience in me paid for a sexing scan to be done to find out.

The look of happiness on my fella's face was worth a million when they told us we were expecting a girl (he is one of 4 boys!), and the consultant was so nice he even put the 3d/4d scan on & showed us our little girls face. Although we think she may be quite shy as she covered her face with her hands (which I am secretly pleased about as you need something to keep as a surprise), again she still tried to hide her girly bits. We have decided to call her Heidi due to the fact that she constantly hides!

3 weeks of work left (only 10 days tho & counting), can't wait to become a mum hope I don't let the little un down!

Aww thanks i was messing about with keiths camera, no idea how to work it as its one of those big fancy things with loads of buttons lol!!
Kara has now decided to got 2-3 hours between feeds, i think maybe she was having a wee growth spurt when we were doing the hourly feeds and weve given her a dummy as shes wanting to suck all the time( didnt want her to find her thumb as my friends 24 and still sucks her thumb, but a dummy can be throw away!)
You should complaint about your HV, mines is great she wants me to go on a baby massage course and if i like it then shes going to help me to become a class instructor(i happened to mention i was really intrested in it) shes also very supportive with the breastfeeding and is so pleased with Karas development.
lol we've had our school holidays already, we got them from the 10th until the 20th oct, jordan was a great help through them!
Hows heidi getting on? hope your all well, kisses for heidi xx

hi hun, yer we're much better thank you! my infection has all gone and Lily is much more settled since i stopped the antibiotics so think they def did affect my milk bless her. i think she has a touch of colic in the evenings as she seems very windy and always brings her knees up when she cries but a bit of infacol seems to settle her so i'm not too worried bless her. i definately agree with u on the routine thing too- Lily doesnt have a clue. i just keep telling myself that she is a tiny baby and has no concept of night and day and the weird thing is no matter how tired i feel for the first few second after i open my eyes the minute i look into her crib my tiredness just vanishes! i just love her so much!
cant believe Heidi is growing out of her newborn stuff :( im dreading having to buy the next size nappies :( i know it's silly cos im plsd she's more settled but i feel the same as u abt her growing up. i can c she has already lost that sleepy newborn look and i feel sad that that little bit has gone already and like u say so fast too! but we have so many firsts to look forward to!
work is a tough one! i know i dont want to go bk to what i was doing- i need a new challange! but it's hard cos now i have to consider not just me and Will but Lily's needs come first too. it's a tough choice to make. is there anything you've always wanted to do?
anyway better go and express before it's time for another feed!
take care. kisses and hugs to you and Heidi, love Gem and Lily xxx

*preciousgem* - Thursday, 30 October
hiya honey- i wrote 2 u on fb but not sure if u got it cos realised i put it as a response to ur status and not on ur wall duh!
how're u and Heidi and Dave getting on now? is Heidi sleeping better? and have u tried out babie boogie yet? sounds fascinating lol! all we have is baby massage and baby rhyme time woohooo no clubbing. brighton is obviously a much more happening place than grimsby lol!
we still havent had to go to formula- midwife suggested i express some breast milk for a top up feed so have been doing that and getting on really well. last night Lily slept from 1-6am but im sure she wont make a habbit of it so im just enjoying it while it lasts lol! weird how ur hv told u not to express and my midwife told me to-so much conflicting advice no wonder we're confused! haha and now ive decided to train as a midwife- i must be mad!
how is noo? i must msg her too- i never seem to get 5 mins tho! sure ur the same! altho i9 dont want Lily to stop being a newborn i cant w8 to get into month 1 so i can chat to u all again- im always behind trying to catch up with u guys lol! anyways hope ur ok- i better try and shower b4 munchkin wakes up again!
take care love and look forward to hearing from you soon :D
love Gem and Lily xxx

LoL, hi, that sounds just like annabella! She falls asleep on dad's shoulder or on me but as soon as we put her down she wakes up, that cutie! We're dealin'... I get frustrated at Mike because sometimes his shoulder is the only thing that soothes her and usually he'll hold her for like 3 minutes, she will FINALLY be calm and happy, and then he'll put her down too soon, I get balistic.. it's nice though the next day when she is happy and calm again, so I just think okay.. be patient, even if it's 6 hours from now she will eventually be more at peace!! She just has to be!! lol, You doing ok?

xxlollyxx - Thursday, 23 October
im good thanks laura, how are you and heidi? my MIL is driving me round the f*****g twist(excuse my french) ugh today is going to be wonderful as the witch has decided to come visit, think i might ignore the doorbell! haha
hope you, dave and heidi are well xxx

bumpage bless u i hope u managed to get some sleep at last. i have some new tips- dont know if they will work but they helped me last night. i warmed the crib up with a quick blast from my hairdryer (u could also use a hot water bottle but obv remove b4 u put baby in) and put a top that i had worn that day near Lily. i then positioned myself and the crib so that Lily could see me whilst she was in there. then i laid down and went to sleep- Lily wimpered for a bit but then she went to sleep too. then today she started crying but stopped when hubby started hoovering the living room. walking around helps us as well. or try getting dave to take heidi out the room as i think sometimes the sight of us makes them want to be held by us. anyway babes hope that helps and hang in there. i will copy this to ur page too. thinking of u.

My Annabella had the same thing all day! You're not alone.. and glad to hear I'm not! (Also sorry though, as I was worried all day also she must have been so tired!) but just couldn't sleep.. 5 minute snoozer that's it!

Hi! Thanks for the feeding tips! My aunt also told me to feed on a schedule. It gets so confusing b/c all the reading info says feed on demand but I here that it is so much better to feed on a schedule as well. It definitely sounds like we have similar stories and I agree that our babies may be just grazing. I've definitely seen an improvement since I've supplemented with formula. My other concern is my milk supply, as I'd like to have a large supply for him when I return to work, however I don't think I will. I will keep my fingers crossed though

Finally found it! Shhhiiiitttt sounds scary! Loved the comment about the evil doctor! Hope your poor body has recovered. I have one midwife called Carole who is very nice and she says she will be the only one in the room the whole time until the end when the obstetrician comes in. Still if everything turns to custard I reckon it could be a different story!

Thanks bumpage - I just can't stop taking photos of little Penny - she's sooo cute!! She gave me a good big smile this morning, when I picked her up - just overwhelms me, how precious she is.

Heidi is gorgeous. We are so blessed, hey.

Penny started getting colicky last night. My firstborn was like that, from about 3 weeks old until 5 or 6 months, and it's so heartbreaking seeing a baby scream in pain. So I'm back to watching very carefully what I eat. Have to avoid most green veges, as well as chocolate and coffee.

But she's sleeping fairly well. Usually still wakes at least twice in the night for feeds, but settles back to sleep okay, and is such a delight when she's awake. Especially when in the bath, which she just loves.

Nice to hear from you, hon. xxxxxx

Thats so weird they dont want to give you the Epi over their! I heard their pretty hard headed about it at any hospital, and you got to really push for it. I got reallly lucky and had some kick ass nurses, let me tell you.. they were greeatt. The Epi only did so much for me though. I was having bad back labor cause of the way he was flipped and how his head was turned, they couldnt do much about it. I ended up going through a little over 3 bottles for the Epi. My poor baby lol. And i know what you mean about missing being prego, ill be sittin their and suddenly think i feel a kick, then i remember hes laying in the room with me lol. Well CONGRATS with you and good luck with everything! Have funn too!!

xlauraxdx - Monday, 6 October

Thank you bumpage, hows heidi doing? and you and dave? xx

gr8scottswife - Monday, 6 October
I was the same way during labor. How in the world did you endure 22 hours of labor without pain relief? I admire you greatly!

becky-wheatman - Friday, 3 October

i am so sorry u had to go thru such a horrible thing and i know what u mean...i would be terrified abt the shoulder dyscopia...u dont care abt yourself but u just cant bare the thought of them feeling pain can u. sounds like she's happy enough now tho.
bless Dave...it's so funny how we become so embroiled in each other's lives on here but so lovly that we're all there for support. dont know what i'd have done without u guys!
