Tuesday, 25 November we have a lot of brain drain as well most go to US where the pay is better however they have no set Maternity leave most just take vacation or take an unpaid leave which i think is outrageous.do they encourage Breast feeding there I assume in the state they don't. wendywendy23 -
Thursday, 20 November In Canada you get 1 year Maternity leave that either the mother or father can take. All of it is paid but you only receive 40% of your wage with a cap of $435.00 a week. Men get no time off with pay unless they are the ones taking all of or part of the leave. I could'nt imagine have a shorter leave I don't think a year is even enough :-) Laura Ward -

Tuesday, 4 November I bought the book the 90 minute baby sleep program by polly moore (www.pollymoore.com)to help with Ryland's sleep. My mother in law said she had read somewhere that a baby's wake period is only 90 minutes long and then they hit a sleep cycle. As baby's get older their sleep cycles will lengthen, but in cycles of 90 minutes...so instead of being able to stay up for only an hour and a half, they will extend to 3 hours and then 4 1/2 hours. The key however is to catch your baby just as they start to enter into their sleep cycle. If you miss that window of opportunity, usually it is 5-15 minutes long, your baby will enter back into another wake period, which means it will be another 90 minutes before they show signs of being tired and entering back into another sleep cycle. It makes complete sense because if you try to put a baby down when they are in their wake period, it's just not going to happen. If you get them when they are showing true signs of being tired, it is SO much easier. Once I started watching the clock for that 90 minute mark or 5 minutes before, I noticed how subtle Ryland's tired signs were, which made them very easy to overlook. Most days Ryland's wake periods last 3 hours (2 cycles of 90 minutes). If Ryland wakes at 7 am, I know that around 9:30/10 he will be ready for a nap- DANNIE -

About her sleeping- Try putting her down 3 hours after she wakes up, no matter how long/short her nap was. DANNIE -
Tuesday, 28 October DId you figure out how to post pictures? karenc -
Tuesday, 28 October hey there, i saw your post about feeling guilty for working. i work full time and i am pretty conflicted about it, some days more than others. i do feel guilty, but other days i know i need to be working b/c my brain just gets mushy when i'm doing the SAHM thing -- i guess i'm just not cut out to be one. i try veeeerrrry hard to spend a lot of quality time with my son, not always doing activities, but just being available to him and making sure he knows how much i love him. it's hard to work and care for a baby at the same time, so you're not at all crazy for having thoughts like those. try to remember that, even tho you spend a lot of time apart, the time you spend together means a LOT to your baby, as well as to you. :) DANNIE -
Friday, 24 October to post a picture- go to www.photobucket.com sign-up and then upload your pictures there. when you log in to photobucket, you will see an empty box that says upload photo here (or something of that sort) before you upload your picture look just below that box to resize the picture you are going to upload- select size medium- if you don't change the size before uploading, you will have a HUGE picture. After selecting medium, then upload your picture- once the picture uploads it will ask if you want to edit it- I usually just skip that step-, unless of course you want to play around with it and edit it- after hitting skip, or after you have edited, you will see an html code under your picture- copy that code and then paste it into the comment box in the forum. Good luck! Laura Ward -

Hi there,
I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.
We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.
If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.
You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com
