Hello all! Excellent day today. Bunny Bun had a really great scan this morning and it's official- Bunny is a Girl! We're so happy. Honestly it didn't matter what we were having, only that the baby is healthy. Now it's time to start up the shopping and decorating the nursery. Love and hugs to all and I hope that you're having a good day today. We are!

xoxo

Hello all. Had a bit of a scare on Tuesday. Headaches, saw those little silvery stars and was light headed all day. I thought I may have been coming down with this flu that's been sweeping the lands-After work I came home to try and lay down, to only become restless and worrisome. I went to triage and found out that I was dehydrated and my blood pressure was up. I felt bad because all day long, I tried to wait it out thinking that my "off" feeling would pass. Eventually it did, however there could have been something more serious happening to us and I didn't heed the warnings. I'm grateful that this was a minor issue and can be avoided in the future by monitoring my salt intake...no protein in the urine and I'm not pre-eclamptic as of this point.

On a more pleasant note, we find out what we are having this Tuesday- can't wait. I think we are having a boy- Daddy wants another little girl. I'm happy either way. We have a couple names picked out. Dante Lee and Nya Belle... I'll post again soon! thanks for taking the time to read my blog!

NT Scan went well today...Bunny Bun is doing well. Wasn't as active as we would have liked to see and that's ok. Melted my heart today, that's for sure.

Will post again later. Take care all.

3/7- WHAT on earth is it with me and mustard? I want it on everything. I `ve never really been a fan, but that `s changed...oh well-I `m sure I `ll get over it.

ahhhh deep breath here. Tuesday during a cervical length measurement ultrasound it was discovered that my cervix was starting to funnel from the inside out. I was consulted on getting a cerclage- which this exact happening was what we were hoping to catch with the biweekly scans- and I elected to have one. We did the works- spinal block-cut away and pushed up part of my bladder to get the stitch up higher and we made it out ok with minimal discomfort. I will tell you this, I knew for a long time that my cervix wasn `t `normal ` and that I was going to have issues with this pregnancy- however my dr `s really didn `t seem to understand what I was trying to tell them. An incompetent cervix/soft mushy cervix like mine doesn `t `look ` incompetent on an ultra sound. It wasn `t until I was on the operating table and they manually examined my cervix were they able to determine that the fibers of my cervix were to flexible they could have put a finger through it right to the baby. This catch in the changes of my body were meant to happen. I believe that angels were watching over us on Tuesday. I pray daily and thank God that this opportunity was given and allowed to be taken. We `re on modified bedrest and will find out this afternoon after my follow up scan if I can return to work on Monday. I `m hoping that I am able to go back. At the very least this baby needs to stay in for 7 more weeks according to the surgeon. I `m not so good at the layng around thing. I will update later on this afternoon.

follow up scan went well. We are able to return to work Monday with very limited activity. The cerclage is in a good position and Bunny Bun is doing well too. Her h/r was 166 this afternoon. To all of those that have shared their cerclage stories and experiences, thank you so much for your input. It helped me become a better health advocate for myself and I appreciate it- we appreciate it so much. Thank you for being around for us. xoxo

I'm glad to hear someone else has gone through this! I don't have the results back from the test today but I truly hope that it is normal. I will begin the iron tomorrow since my first meal today was not until 3 PM. I was starving sfter the test today. I feel much better today, thanks for responding to my hormonal post! LOL :)

I see you are in Wisconsin also. I just moved to Brown Deer, WI when we got married 1 1/2 ago from Chicago. It is quite different but we have adjusted nicely to suburban life. Where are you guys located?

Now that you mention it, I can kinda see it! LOL! We probably could pass for relatives. If you know/are related to any Saffolds, we have probably seen each other already! LOL! What part of Wisconsin are you in? I'm in Milwaukee, but only until June 19th. After that, me and baby are off to Arlington to be with daddy! :) I feel soooooo sick today! I've been eating sour patch kids and trying to drink stuff. Man, I'll be soooo glad when the sick part is over. Baby doesn't like anything I try to eat! :(

My appointment went well today! Baby's heartbeat is strong and he/she is alot bigger than they were at 5 weeks. I'm due December 20th. I could even make out the head and body! I asked her about IC and she said it's more common in women who have a history of problems with their cervix (surgeries (LEEP or Cone Biopsy), genetics, abortions, m/c's, etc. She said I should be fine (and cervix looks/feels fine) but she can start checking around 12 weeks if I'm still concerned. Thanks for all the info about that!

His name is Xavier. My husband picked it, because I got to pick both of my girls names. The pump is like an insulin pump. I have an IV like thing running into my thigh attached to a pager-like device which contains the medicine. I have to fill the medicine about every 17 hours. I have tributaline continuously being pumed into my body, and then every 4 hours I get a big burst. I have to switch the IV thing from thigh to thigh about every 3-5 days. I had a nurse come out to my house to train me on all of this. She was here for about 4 hours on Tuesday. I also have a contraction monitor which I have to hook up to me once in the morning and once in the evening for an hour each time which is read by the nurse. She calls me at the end of each hour to tell me what she saw VS. what I felt. I tell ya, the things we do to have kids. It's starting to look like a hospital in my house with all of this medical equipment and medicine.

babyjohn - Thursday, 15 May
Hey- things still going alright? I see that you hit the magical 28 week mark, yeah!!! Since I have been contracting so much they put me on a tributaline pump(sp). The med makes me feel so jittery. The pump is supposed to slow my contractions so that I have 4 or less an hour. I have only had the pump 2 days, but so far it is working. I really don't know what a "mucous plug" looks like, but I have been having off and on thick quarter size globs of discharge (I know gross) with what looks like little white veins in it so I am nervous that it might be my plug. I have an appointment tomorrow, so I have to ask the doctor. I am also kind of hoping he checks me to see if I have dilated anymore, which I hope I didn't! In 2 1/2 weeks, when I am 34 weeks, I am going to beg my doctor to stop all of the meds and if I go I go. I will be ready to deliver my baby boy!

briii0522 - Thursday, 15 May
na the dr said it didnt look that concerning, he also said a cerclage would do more harm than good. no biweekly check ups or anything. he just told me to come in in 4 weeks which would put me at 24 weeks than we will see how its goin i think. thanks fa commenting hope all goes well

So I just need to tell the doc to keep an eye on my cervix? I looked at all the possible causes for an incompetent cervix (d&c's, cone biopsy's, or genetics) and I'm not sure, but I had that colposcopy done- it wasn't a surgery though. I wasn't put under any anesthesia or anything. I think a colposcopy just takes a closer look at the cervix (and they noticed precancerous cells then), but they never went in and scraped or took anything away (I would've remembered that). I have my 8-week appointment tomorrow so I will be sure to ask about that. Then I have to switch docs when I move to TX and I just hope I can find one who's as understanding as the one I have now. Thanks for your info!

jamie1stTime - Wednesday, 14 May
hey! thank you for your response! When I finally went to the doctor he took a look and told me I was just constipated and the "back up" was just pushing everything over. I had quite a few stitches, so going to the bathroom was very painful. I took some laxatives and everything slowly went back to where it belonged. I am not one to go to the doctor for "self- diagnosing" and now I know why. I had to pay $40 (co-pay) for someone to tell me I needed to poo!!! lol Lesson learned! Congrats on your pregnancy!

Halloween*Bean - Wednesday, 14 May
I'm feeling pretty good and I'm feeling the baby, too!!!! YAY! Wow, 28 weeks already - how exciting!!! Do you feel good?

babytauri - Tuesday, 13 May
Will do! I just feel nauseous all the time. I know I need to eat, but I don't want to :(. I can't really stomach anything these days. I didn't even realize you were online! I won't know for a while what I'm having. I go Thursday for my 8-week appointment. I just sent you a reallly long email (sorry about that! :)

babytauri - Tuesday, 13 May
And tell me more about the incompetent cervix thing. I've been reading up on it and found that there really isn't a way you can tell your cervix is incompetent until AFTER you lose the baby!?! That's crazy! There has to be a better way to know so that you don't have to experience that. I know that a cone biospy could cause it? I had a colposcopy done about 3 years ago. When I found out I was pregnant (4/24) doc never said anything was wrong- she said my cervix was closed so that was a good thing; and I'm assuming if it was soft or irregular, she would have noticed then? I'm just a little concerned now. I mean, to get all the way into your 4th or 5th month and lose your baby....I just can't imagine and sure the hell don't wanna experience that! Is there something that my doc has to look for during my 2nd trimester or is it something she can look for now to prevent the worst from happening? (Sorry this was so long....)

babytauri - Tuesday, 13 May
Really? Wow it's a small world! I'll be in Arlington permanently after the end of my first trimester (mid-June). My boyfriend is anxiously awaiting me and the baby so I can't stay in Milwaukee too much longer! I'll have to try that Nino's place!

kla2200 - Tuesday, 13 May
