Hi Everyone,

Am cat and am 26 yrs and live in Shropshire, England. Our baby is due on the first of May so am getting very excited at the prospect of meeting our darling wee baby. We don't know what sex the baby is and want it to be a surprise. It would be nice to have a girl as we have a boy but either way a healthy child is all we hope for. I feel like i've put on alot of weight i think 22lbs so far but then i did put on alot when i was carrying my first. I have a 28 week check with midwife next tuesday so am all excited about hearing my baby again its just so reassuring that all is well. I hope your all well and enjoying your pregnancies.

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hey!! I had my 2nd son at around 3am the following morning after the midwife stripped my membranes the afternoon before. I had mild contractions all evening and they got worse around 11pm. I'm getting stripped next Tuesday and am hoping for the same outcome!! Good luck!

my best friend just had her baby last month and had a sweep at 3pm and her contractions started the same day at about 7pm. but he was 6 days over her due date.

hello! i'm from week 35 and i love to read birth stories , most of the time you have to go to the page and go under children and that's where they have it! hope this helps!

hey. not a problem. everyone on here has been so helpful to me. i know exactly what you mean.....i call the docs office at least 3 times a week with concerns that mostly are nothing. they must be getting sick of me there.... :-) anyways. good luck with everything and i wish you and your family the best.

I am SOOO glad that it helped you! I appreciate you saying so. I know sometime's it can be really confusing all these different things that we feel. Especially this being my 2nd time, anytime I feel something different than my first time I am like, OK what's wrong!? So I completely understand. That's why I love this site...almost alway's there is someone on here experiencing the same thing or has before. Good luck, and we're almost there. :0) ~~Brandie~~

hey. ive had those shooting pains down there as well, for the past 3 days. had docss appt yesterday and she said its just the baby coming down and it happens. nothing to be concerned about though. hope that helps!

branbug - Tuesday, 15 April
I have the same pains. I found this. Hope it helps. My doc. confirmed that this is what I was experiencing. And worse for subsequent pregnancies like us. Pregnancy can be a time of extreme discomfort. From aching feet to lower back pain, the pregnant woman’s body feels the effects of being pregnant. In addition to carrying the weight of baby, the changing hormone levels and changing shape and size of the uterus cause all sorts of stresses on the body. One of the most common types of discomfort that a pregnant woman can experience is pelvic pressure and pain.

There are two major causes of pelvic pain & pressure during pregnancy. The expanding uterus presses on your pelvis, causing pain and pressure. As pregnancy moves on, your baby will become larger and move deeper and deeper into your pelvic area. At times, this can almost feel like someone is pushing from the inside on your pelvis. You may be actually able to feel your uterus at this time.

The second major cause of pelvic pain & pressure during pregnancy is the stretching of ligaments. As the ligaments that support your uterus thin and stretch, they can cause sharp, almost stabbing pains on the side of your pelvis. This pain can stretch all the way down to the thighs. The sciatic nerve may also be crowded, causing a painful or sometimes a numb feeling in this area as well.

There are a variety of things that you can do to help relieve pelvic pressure & pain during pregnancy. You might find that you can use heat, such as with a heat pack or a warm bath, to help relax your pelvic area. Some women have had success with pelvic massage. Sometimes, just changing your position can get your baby into a different spot, and thereby putting less pressure on your pelvis. Knee lifts can sometimes help with stretching ligaments, although you should always take care to do these in such a way that you maintain your balance and avoid the risk of falling. Pelvic rocking or hip squeeze exercises may provide some relief. If the pain and pressure are unbearable, or if they are frequent, you should speak with your health care provider.

oh sweetie, I feel so bad for you! I will keep you, your husband and your baby in my prayers. Be strong and take care.

snowwhite5thbabe - Tuesday, 18 Mar
I'm sorry-I would imagine it would be extremely hard on you for your husband to have to go now. Does he get to come home for the birth? How long will he be gone?
God bless you and your little one!

YES! I have been experiencing pain in that same spot since about 19 weeks!! YUCK! Yoga helps, but doesn't eliminate it completley. Good Luck!

hwolf - Thursday, 31 Jan
I read your post in week 27 and I get the same pain you are speaking of. I sit in front of a computer all day - and I always chalk it up to being in that position for a long period of time. It helps to get up and walk around a little. For me, it's always my right side!

catding23 - Thursday, 31 Jan
I have been looking at this website for many weeks and have finally decided to join at 27 weeks pregnant. I have found it very interesting and i wish you all the best in your pregnancies. This is my second pregnancy and it was planned. I got married in feb 07 to the most amazing man ever. He is in the british army and is due to be sent over to Afghanistan in March so i hope that he gets back for the birth or shortly afterwards. Everything is going well so far and my wee boy nathan keeps me active if nothing else.
