My name is Christy. I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. My husband is Stuart and I have two kids: Cullen (5) and Shannon (3). And of course "the little bean" that's on the way.

Pragnancy wise, I've had a bit of a rough time, but I'm gratefull to the Lord for my 2 beautifull children. Cullen was born at 28 weeks (after going into labour on and off since 26 weeks). He spent 8 weeks in hospital, but is perfectly healthy now.

With Shannon I started contractions at 17 weeks and was put on bedrest. After 3 stays in hospital, she was born at 32 weeks. When she was 3 days old, the doctors diagnosed a congenital heart defect. Thankfully it was surgically corrected when she was 3 months old. She too is perfectly healthy today! God is good!

And now "little bean". Started bleeding yesterday (only 6 weeks now) - but baby is fine, and we'll see how it goes.

Well, baby seems to be ok. Had another bleed yesterday, but it has stopped. No cramps at least! Have to be on bedrest now, which is a bit difficult with 2 other children (they are at home with me - no pre-school). Thankfully I have plenty of support from friends and family!

Well, today little bean is 7w6d old! the bleeding has stopped completely for over a week now. I think perhaps I'm starting to really feel pregnant. The morning sickness is bad all day, my boobs have grown(yay!) and my tummy has a little bulge! Still praying that all is well and counting down the days to Dec 20th!

Tuesday, 11 Dec
Well, 9 weeks today! Still feeling REALLY nauseous allllll day. No bleeding for over 2 weeks now - what a relief! I'm looking very forward to my appointment next week.

See how my baby is doing

Wednesday, 16 Jan

Well, 14 weeks now and feeling pretty good! Nausea is totally gone - woohoo!! Still pretty tired in the afternoons though. I continued to bleed on and off until about 12 weeks, but no more bleeding since then. The best part of it all, is that I feel my cute little bean kicking away inside of me! It `s so cute when it knocks as if to say `Hi Mommy! I `m ok in here still - just letting you know! ` What a wanderful feeling!

Thursday, 21 Feb

So, week 19! Yay, that's half-way for me - I'll be having a c/section at 38 weeks. Been feeling really good lately and just enjoying being pregnant. have some heartburn and backache, but that goes with the territory! I have my 20 week scan next wednesday - can't wait!! My little bean is already hyperactive! I REALLY hope that's not a sign of things to come! LOL!!

Thursday, 24 April

Well, I haven't updated in ages! I'm now 28 weeks. This is a huge milestone for me. It's the furtherest I've ever been without having any contractions or being in hospital or on any medication. VERY EXCITING!

I have discussed a VBAC with my doc and he is very happy to let me try! I've been going to antenatal exercise classes to try and strengthen up and get a bit fit for labour.

I've been generally very healthy and not had too many pregnancy niggles. My coccyx has been really sore though and some backache, but otherwise, feeling good.

So glad to hear Joel is doing well!!!!! Yay! Yeah...I have been pumping for 6 weeks and I am sooooo tired of doing so. I only get enough for 2 feedings a day now, so they had to supplement with formula. :o( Now that she will come home soon, hopefully Anelise will help me to produce more milk. She needs to suck harder. I will give it time though...after all...we only just tried the breastfeeding thing last night. You are in my prayers...can't wait to see pics!

congrats on your baby- glad to hear everything is going well with your little one. I am in preterm labor, dilated to a one, on many meds to stop the contractions, but still contracting, so I think my little guy will be here within the next couple of weeks!

hey there... I didnt get to hear your story/post on the amniotic fluid leakage-- i also had that problem slightly last week and it stopped, so i am thinking. after calling mr dr's office, they said bed rest for awhile until it stopped, if it didn't or contractions were 5 mins apart for an hour to call and they would admit me.. Well, the fluid was coming just a little at a time in the late afternoons early evenings-- then nothing.. Contractions happening, but irregular. I never went, have a Dr's appt on Monday- so I have been waiting.. I hope I am ok, he is moving inside me like normal, yet I wonder after reading your post.. How much fluid did you leak out and how long were you like that before going to the hospital?! I hope your baby is ok, I will pray for him with Booby's and wish blessings to you and your family! Best of luck and let me know what happened, ok?

i agree w/ boopy - plus your a nurse right? its not a bad thing to be overly cautious, i just don't want you to get an infection and then they have to take the baby out. just go in and they can run a simple test to determine if you are really leaking amniotic fluid. let us all know how its going. hugs..jenn

Sweety. I'm about to get some sleep before work...and both you and I know that you should be getting checked out. Please...for me and my little preemie Analise....call the dr. To me...that sounds like pre term...with the back and all. I went with over 12 hours of pain in the back...no need for you to go there also. Okay....I've got to sign off..just want you to know that I will be thinking of you while I'm at work.

Hey there...wow that would get a little frustrating! What happens in Zimbabwe?

Well I am still 30 weeks pregnant, but my fundal height is measuring at 35 weeks. I don't think I am going early...that would be nice to skip a whole 5 weeks! They will know more with the ultrasound they are doing at 36 weeks. My midwife didn't seemed concerned. I think he will be bigger than Savannah at birth (7 lbs. even), but I don't think he is going to be huge...at least I hope not.

I had to find out the gender with both. I couldn't wait. That would be hard for me to do, but I guess if I had one of each it would be easier because I would have both kinds of clothes. It is hard giving a name to your child that they will live with for the rest of their life. It was always hard for us to pick out boys names. When we were pregnant with Savannah, we were hoping for a girl because we already had her name picked out. We could not agree on a boy name then. This time around I thought it was a boy because I did the chinese gender predictor and it was right with Savannah so I just thought it was right with Cole and it was. We didn't have any girl names picked out this time around and amazingly we both agreed on Cole.

Yeah, I didn't sleep well last night. Last night was the first night that I felt like I couldn't breathe. I am feeling pretty good otherwise. Do you have a pregnancy pillow? I have a pregnancy pillow that I abslutely cannot sleep without. It kind of looks like a big U and my head goes at the curve of the U, so I can be turned on either side and have a part of the pillow between my legs. That pillow was the best purchase we ever made! I LOVE IT!!!!

Savannah is doing very well with knowing that Cole is on his way. At first she kind of acted out a little bit, but I guess that is normal. I bought her a couple of books from Barnes and Noble that have helped her with the change. One is about what to expect when Mommy's having a baby and the ohter one is about being a big sister and not being the baby anymore. She talks to Cole and pushes on my belly. It's cute! Of course she has no sense of time so she really doesn't know when he will be here, but she is very accepting of him coming.

Well, I am sorry this got to be such a long message. Talk to you soon.

I was glad to hear it was just the loss of electricity. I was worried that you might have gone into preterm labor given your history. I had my appointment today. I measured in at 35 weeks, which I guess doesn't mean much. I have another scheduled ultrasound at 36 weeks to check Cole's weight and fluid. I haven't asked you...do you know what you are having this time? Do you have names picked out yet? Well, got to go make dinner so I will talk to you later.
