My boyfriend, Joel, and my first child is due on September 19th.This was an unplanned pregnancy, but we both are very excited for this little addition!I'm a senior at University of Wisconsin-Madison, and I was hoping to graduate with a kinesiology degree in December 2007, and then go to graduate school for physical therapy, but all of those plans will have to be moved back a bit.I'm trying to do the part-time student thing right now, but I'm afraid my grades are going to suffer because my mind is on different things and I'm just always exhausted. My boyfriend is six years older than me, which helps out a lot, since he has a full-time job.
February 13:I had my first doctor's appointment today. It was very boring though. All they did was draw blood and I had to do an urine test. They took my medical/family history and I got a book and lots of pamphlets on pregnancy.Since I had such irregular menstrual cycles, I am scheduled for an ultrasound tomorrow morning in order to verify the due date.I'm very excited for that!
First ultrasound!

February 14:Baby is about 9 weeks in this ultrasound. We got to hear the heartbeat for the first time--180 bpm!It was such an amazing experience. Everything just seems so much more real now that we actually got to see our little creation.Seeing him/her for the first time was the best Valentine's Day gift ever!
As for me, I feel as if my nausea is starting to subside a bit.I have been lucky enough not to vomit yet, but do feel nauseated throughout the majority of the day.Joel
is absolutely a sweetheart and wakes up extra early in the morning to
make sure I have my breakfast.I've been obsessed with oranges the last couple weeks.I'm
extremely fussy with the food I eat.I find something that doesn't
make me nauseated and I'll stick with that food for a long time; I'm
too afraid to try something new because it may make me sick.I'm still very exhausted though. All I want to do is sleep...but I know only a few more weeks of this hopefully!
I'm telling my parents about the exciting news for the first time this Sunday.I'm extremely nervous and don't know how they will react.I know I'm not in the best situation (i.e. not married/engaged, not done with college yet, etc...), but after the initial shock of it, I'm sure they will be excited.
My next doctor's appointment is February 27th.I get to meet my Dr. for the first time and have more tests done.

Joel's roommate Shayne surprised us with a cake at our employee party! We had to tell everyone our little surprise!Damn him! :)
April 7:It's been a while since I have updated this page.I have been extremely busy with working.I was hired at my old high school as the boy's and girl's head track and field coach. So I'm extremely busy with practice every afternoon.I'm also a server at a sports bar, and was working a lot of long busy shifts because of the NCAA basketball tournament. Not gonna complain though, made a lot of much needed money during that time in tips.(I had Mark Tauscher, offensive lineman for the Green Bay Packers, at one of my tables one night, and I was left a $200 tip!)So things are finally starting to slow down and I can breathe again.
I have been doing very well lately.Nausea is completely gone, thank God!I popped out overnight about 3 weeks ago, so I had to buy my first maternity clothes because my regular jeans were too tight. My mom coudn't believe that I was showing that early because she hardly showed at all until late in the pregnancy.Even though I am really showing, at my last Dr. appointment, I had lost weight again.I'm eating a lot and everything, so I don't know why this is happening.I'm guessing that I'm just losing weight from my thighs and butt.I was at my heaviest weight ever when he first weighed me (I used to be a tiny 110 lbs, was up to 136 this winter), and now that it is warming up outside, I'm just more active, and losing some of my fat stored from the winter.
Currently I am at 16 weeks. The last week and a half or so ago, I think I felt the baby move for the first time.I thought it was gas at first, but then I kept on having the same "fluttering" feeling when I was laying down quietly.I'm still pretty tired all the time, but I have been a bit better.I used to sleep from 11PM til noon, but lately I've been waking up around 9:30ish.
Joel calls me a big baby with a baby.I can be pretty needy at times, expecially when I have a good excuse to be.Every morning before he leaves for work, he still makes sure I have some breakfast by my bedside and bottle full of water. He's too good to me, and if I was him, I would be sick of putting up with my complaining.
My next doctor's appointment is on Tuesday.I'm gonna have my triple screen done.I'm praying that nothing will be wrong!

My bump at 15 weeks!
IT'S A GIRL!
May 11:We had our big ultrasound on Wednesday. The technician said she was 99.9% sure that it's a girl!We had a clear view right between the legs.I wanted a little girl but daddy wanted a boy.He was a little disappointed at first but now he's fine with it.He is an amazing golfer (played golf for Wisconsin in college), and wanted a little boy and for him to go pro some day.But now he says that a girl golfer will have a lot easier time, compared to a boy, getting a scholarship to play for a good college someday. Everything is going great; she's exactly the size that she's supposed to be right now.(Oh, and the triple screen results came back just fine too)
I'm at 21 weeks now, and I have only gained 3 pounds, but my tummy is getting bigger and bigger! My Dr. doesn't seem too concerned that I'm not gaining weight.I'm feeling great right now.Nothing to complain about at all!
It's now time to think about names for our little girl.A name that has been stuck in my head for a while now is "Isla" (pronounced eye-lah).I want her name to be something unique but not weird.I grew up with no one having my name, and I loved it.I'm glad I wasn't named "Jennifer" or "Ashley", like all the girls my age are seemed to be named.I told Joel about it and he didn't say much other than it sounds like "I love".So a couple days later I was looking at a name website and came upon "Jo", which I thought would be a really cute middle name for her since Dad's name is Joel. What do you think? Or is Isla too weird of a name?People will be struggling over her last name her whole life (it's pronounced wreck-lidge), and I don't want people also struggling over the first name, pronouncing it Is-la.

21 Weeks!
June 15: Everything is going great with my baby girl. My Dr. said that according to the last ultrasound, she is in the 53rd percentile, so that's perfect. I am so happy that I have had no complications and nothing has been wrong with this pregnancy yet. (knock on wood...) Oh, and I have FINALLY gained some weight. I gained about six in one month, so I'm up to nine pounds gained so far. I had to go out and buy some new bras. Pre-pregnancy I was a 32A...Now I'm a 34C! I finally have boobs! Let me tell ya, boy does daddy love them... :) My baby girl is super active, and I can predict the times of day she's gonna be kicking me. I feel as if I haven't gotten any bigger lately. My mom says I'm carrying high...which explains the constant pressure on my ribs and the hard time breathing.
I'm done working and will have the rest of this summer off to just rest. Waitressing was just too tiring and my feet were always just too swollen afterwards. Oh, and I have some huge non-baby news......
I'm Engaged!
Joel asked me to marry him on my birthday, two weeks ago. So once baby is born, I get to start preparing for a wedding!

My growing bump at 25 Weeks...
no stretch marks yet! ...but doesn't my tummy look crooked?

This is what we choose for our nursery... white sleigh crib too! I'm super excited for his roommate to move out so we can get the nursery all ready!
July 13: I'm 30 weeks pregnant now... I really can't believe that I still have 10 weeks to go. I feel huge, and I can't believe that she is going to double in size in these last weeks. How much bigger can I possibly get? :( I had a doctor's appointment on Monday. I gained 11 pounds in 5 weeks... Oops! I'm at a total of twenty pounds gained right now. So I got to cut back on the ice cream. Damn it! My Dr. lectured me on it, especially because I'm a kinesiology-exercise science major, he told me I should know better. So I'm really trying to watch what I eat, and I'm trying to take the dog for a walk each night. Other than the weight gain, the appointment went well. I'm measuring just right. I wish I knew how big she was. All you girls out there seem to have ultrasounds all the time and know approximately how much your little baby weighs. I haven't had an ultrasound since I found out the sex, and he told me that she was in the 53rd percentile at that time. I hope she's a little six pounder! I was 6 lbs 12 oz, 19 inches; my fiance was 6 lbs 15 oz, 19.5 inches... So hopefully she'll be little just like we were. I want to try to do a natural birth, but I know if she's a big baby, there is no way I'll be able to. Doctor said that she is still positioned transverse, hopefully she flips head down soon!
Lately I have been EXTREMELY tired. I'm back to sleeping 12 hours a night. It's so uncomfortable though. I have always had bad joints with hip, knee, and shin problems. So my hips just kill me in the middle of the night when I've been sleeping on one side for too long. I also noticed in the past week, that I have become emotional again. I've had two crying spells for no good reason. One night it was because my fiance didn't want to have sex because he was too tired. The other was yesterday when he was leaving for work. I hate, Hate, HATE being an emotional cry baby!
I'm having two baby showers. My fiance's sister is throwing me one for their side of the family and my friends, and then my mom is throwing one for our side of the family. My first shower is two weeks from now, so I'm getting super excited! My second shower isn't until August 12 though...hopefully I don't decide to go early! I have my crib, glider, and bedding set bought. I need to get a changing table yet, and then anything I don't get from my baby showers. I'm lucky enough that my fiance's mom is buying all of our furniture for us and that my mom has 11 brothers and sisters, so hopefully we won't have to buy too much stuff using our own money!
We have for sure decided on a first name for her-- Isla. We haven't settled on a middle name yet. The two I have in mind are either Isla Michelle or Isla Jo. Michelle is my mom's name, and Joel is my fiance's name. Last name is Rechlicz (pronounced wreck-lidge). What do you think?
Pictures of me at 30 weeks

My mom says I'm huge and that she looked that big when she was ready to pop at 40 weeks. Do you think I look too big or just right?
