She arrived !!

Hayley Drew arrived on Friday 15th Feb after an aprox 11 hour labour. I had a slight leak on the Wednesday evening and headed to the hospital on Thursday morning (Valentines day).

Hung out at the hospital all day waiting in the "que" and at 9.30pm was placed on a drip to bring things along. Contractions are insame eh?!? hey took no time at all to kick in and be coming every few minutes.

By about 7.30am the following morning (Friday ) I was finally fully dialated and ready to start pushing. Have to admit that was the point it went through my head.. I cant do this.. but refused to actually say it.

I had taken the gas and 2 shots of Pethadine - and even asked for the epidural which I had said I did not want (they refused anyway - too late) and at 9.09am Hayley Drew arrived weighing 8lbs 4oz (which was my exact birth weight). She was 52cm long. (oh yeah no stitches YAY!!)

Home now and loving every minute - however she is a bit like her dad and I. Likes to sleep all day and at 2am she is wanting to party til 6 or 7.

Breast feeding is going really well and she is now 1 week old and we have got a bit of routine in place.

Hope all are well. Not sure how often I will access the computer these days.. must sort my home one out.

Take care all and thanks for all the fab info and advise xxx

Hi all,

Well this is my first ever pregnancy, and due to my age I am very excited as is my partner Ryan (he is 7 years and 7 days younger than I am). We had not been trying - but cant say we were trying not too either so I guess it was just a matter of time !

Ryan now works away on a mine site, and I found out I was pregnant 1 week before he left to start for the first time ! We both agreed it was good timing (even though we were hoping for a Run-a-Muck holiday in Thailand at the end of the year...) We figure it might be hard for this to have happened if he was working away 3 weeks out of 4 !

So far so good with the health. No morning sickness.. but I think my first thought every day is... will today be the day? I do get very tired however.

I will not be getting my first scan until Im 11 weeks so I cant hope for that day to come quick enough.

Ryan tells me he was a 10lb baby.. yikes.

I wish everyone else all the very best of luck.

June 6th - Discovered I was pregnant

July 23rd - First scan, saw the baby and its heartbeat

July 26th - Ultrasound. Saw the baby kicking its legs and moving its arms. Heart rate is 151 beats per minute

July 27th - OB called. I have a 1:77 chance the baby could have Down's. The Nuchal fold was normal at 1.3mm and it was my bloods and probably my age that put me at "high risk". Im not sure that I will have the CVS test next week as the risk of miscarraige are higher than of my baby having DS. Quite a few tears last night, but Im staying positive.

My pregnancy has been a breeze so far so Im trusting my gut instincts that everything will be ok. If not, I will still love my child with all my heart.

July 30th - After a rather stressful weekend I decided that I wont have the CVS. Thankfully Ryan called on Sunday from the mine site and being the "gambling man" that he is, he felt that the odds were in our favour and we should not take any chances having the CVS.

It was so nice to know that he was on the same page as me. We will take things as they come and discuss it further on Thursday - he is home after 3 weeks away. I cant wait to get a BIG hug from him.

August 2nd - Ryan is home !! Cooked him a lovely meal. He told me I look beautiful and he loves me and missed me... all those things I needed to hear. Needless to say we had an early night.....

August 14th - First visit with the Midwife who was lovely and also with the OB. Just the routine sort of stuff and form filling. Next appointment is an Ultrasound at 19 weeks on 14th Sept and Ryan will actually be there for it which is lovely.

August 24th - I think I may be feeling just the slightest of movement or odd flutter in my belly. 4 months this weekend WOW !!

Have still decided that we will leave finding the sex of the baby out until I give birth. I lurv suprises !! Having a hard time with names - but one thing we do know is that no matter the sex we will give it the middle name Drew, which is Ryans youngest brothers name. He has a heart of gold but has addiction problems.. so this was my idea as I just know it will mean the world to him.

October 12th - Thought I had better give an update - not that much is happening out of the ordinary. Experiencing a bit of heart burn. I also have a second job on the weekend (nearly finnished with that as Im on my feet out there for 12 hours on a Sat and about 8 on a Sunday!). Anyway its out in the farming area and Im starting to get really bad allergies. I sneezed all the way home yesterday (which reminds me to get working on those pelvic floor muscles...oops). It has also affected my throat which is now VERY raspy.

I feel the baby moving every day now which is awsome - and last night I was just laying there watching it and could actually see my belly move when it kicked. Ryan was home last week from the mine site so he has now felt it move as well.

Getting some pain in my lower back but I know a physio and he has been so kind as to arrange a back brace for me on the house. What a guy !!

Im loving being pregnant. Just cant wait to finnally see my little babe.

November 28th - I feel bub move ever single day now. All the movement is still very low. Nothing under my ribs at all. Having ALOT of pain in my pelvis and it often clicks when I roll in bed at night. I wear a belt and that seems to help a bit. The Docs only advise to fix the prob was to have the baby. So I am doing very little exercise lately. Will start heading to the pool soon I think.

Have all the bubs cot etc on layby and it will be delivered to my door and put together for me. For $1488 I got the Cot, Change table in matching wood which is also a set of draws, the Pram, the Car seat, Bath on a stand, Matress and bedding.

Guess I still need a breast pump, and bottles as I will be coming back to work when bub is 5 months old. It sucks but we need the second income.

Ryan got his drivers licence - YAY !!
