Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Sx

Hope your son gets better soon and your mother in law backs off, try to not let it get to you, as hard as it may be, your health should be number one priority for every one in the family at the moment. Its not good for the baby for you to be stressed out. Your kids are delightful. Im having my third c-section in two weeks time, im a little nervous about the surgery, are you? Good luck with everything. R

I wish I knew my due date! I'm hoping to be induced March 29th. I think taking those kind of surveys are fun anyways. :) Are you getting excited to add to your family?

Jo-Mama - Friday, 8 Feb
You're right - your baby is more important than work! Take care of yourself and enjoy the next month or two with your family.

WOW you look really good for 31 weeks and 4 days! My husband told me yesterday I look like i have basketball unde rmy shirt! I was like thanks honey! HA

Hi there, I read that you are also getting a c-section. Just wondering when they will schedule ? Now or do they wait till the final week ? I just wish I had a date. haha

Jo-Mama - Friday, 25 Jan
Thank goodness you're a nurse and therefore privy to your info and other doctors. You are doing an awesome job taking care of yourself! Think of those patients that have the same midwife as you who can't take care of themselves. That would suck. You should go into business: 'Gotta a crappy midwife? Call me and I'll tell you everything you need to know!'

Jo-Mama - Friday, 18 Jan
That really sucks that you are getting such lame care from your midwife. In Canada, midwives are not as common and you have to go on a waiting list to get one. I can't imagine getting substandard care like that. Thankfully my midwife is wonderful. Hopefully things get better for you.

I don't get any paid maternity leave. I'm an independent contractor (essentially self-employed) so if I don't work, I don't get paid! I'll probably be going back to work 2-3 days after I have the baby, maybe a couple longer if I can save up a little extra money between now and then. The only good thing is I do work from home (I'm a medical transcritionist) so I don't have to actually leave my kids, but it is hard. This time will be interesting because my oldest is in school and I'm going to try breastfeeding, so we'll see how getting 1 ready for school, 1 breastfed, and 2 more breakfast by 8:30 every morning works! Then in the fall, my second will be starting kindergarten. Oh, the trials of motherhood. My husband will hopefully be taking some vacation time when the baby gets here, and so will my mother, so I'm sure we'll get everything worked out. I'm definitely not happy with the way the US treats families. To top it all off, we can't afford insurance (it's over $400 a month through my husband's employer), but we make too much for government aid...and, even with 3 kids, we still end up paying income tax every year instead of getting a refund like most families.

margiemom - Saturday, 12 Jan
hey i read your ? we get maternity leave here IF the employer chooses to provide it, however if you have been employed a certain # of hours they HAVE to give you 12 weeks family leave, unpaid of courseunless u have vacation or sick time. in my case i was 4, yes 4 hours short of being eligible for family leave. i wasnt even ready to be out, just the doc has requested that i not lift over 25 pounds cause i was bleeding all the time. so they said i could not work. they told me to request personal leave, let me pay the doc to fill out the papers, then denied it and fired me without telling me. i found out 2 weeks later when i called to ask about it. so thatmeant that i was unemployed for 2 weeks, meaning i could not use the personal short term disability i have been paying for myself for 4 years. so i get nothing nothing nothing,. i have no job i can t get unemployment casue here u can only get it if u are unemployed thru 'no fault of your own' and pregnancy is considered my fault. the good news is my appeal to my short term went thru, and i will get about 1/5 of my income monthly. which will help. but we still have to pay all our bills and we dont have a fortune saved. not only that, we pay 186 every 2 weeks for health insurance. i stil haveto pay 20 every time i go to the doc, and then 20% if the bill, the hospital wil cost 150 a day for me and 150 a day for the baby plus 20% of the total. the medicine my hubby and son take on a daily basis even with insurance costs us now over 500 a month cause our plan changed. i will have to go back to work a soon as they cut the umbilical cord

kcard82 - Saturday, 12 Jan
In the US no employer is required to give paid maternity leave, full or partial. The only law we have is the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). It guarantees job protection for 3 months of leave. Employers can chose to pay mothers or fathers. I work for the federal government and all I get is 3 months, unpaid maternity leave. I'm not going back until maybe a year later. Babies who can't even sit up have no place in daycare, IMO. My husband will be supporting me and the baby while paying the bills and mortgages. I guess that's the price you pay for not having socialized healthcare.

naomijane - Monday, 7 Jan
your welcome I honestly meant it too

I saw your comment on the 27 weeks forum and I just wanted to tell you that your friend is in my prayers and my heart goes out to her I have a younger brother and sister who are twins and I don't know what I would do without them it rips my heart to know that she had to go through such a tragedy. Good luck on your pregnancy.

whitneyc - Tuesday, 1 Jan
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's twins. It's a really scary thought that we could actually have our babies in 2 more weeks. I hope everything is going well with your pregnancy.

babydane - Tuesday, 1 Jan
Chrissy, I'm so sorry to hear that. Pregnancy can be fun & scarey at the same time. Anything you need to cheer you up I'm here if you want to talk. You were here for me once when I was down. Try to Kepp your head up sweetie :0) xoxo
