Alexis: The meaning of the name is "The Protector of Mankind" (English)
Phong: The meaning of this name is "Phoenix" (Vietnamese)
The name Alexis was given to 14659 boys & girls in the USA in 2004. Alexis was the number 29 name that year. In 2005, the name was given to 4134 boys & girls making it the number 103 name that year.
The name Phong was given to less than 150 boys in the USA in both 2004 and 2005. The name Phong seems to be unique!
Phong is more common for boys, but it is used to name girls in the Vietnamese culture. My mother-in-law's name is Phong (pronounced Fong) and we gave gave Alexis her name as a middle name.

Well, I went in to be induced on Jan. 31st.They were going to give me cervadil but I started to contract on my own so they decided not to.My contractions became regular and strong.By 5am the nurses started pitocin to regulate my contractions. After a while, they got SO strong that I was BEGGING for an epidural. The doctor came and gave me the epidural, which lasted for about 30 minutes. After that, I felt every single contraction. He even came back in and gave me the strongest pain medication, 2x, but it didn't work.I tried to nap in between contractions, but I wound up waking up and screaming " Get her out! Help me! F*** lamaze breathing!" lol.I went from 1 cm, to 2.5 cm, then 5cm a couple hours later. We thought at this rate I'd be in labor for hours.About an hour after they said I was 5cm dialted, I felt the sudden urge to have a "bowel movement" or to "push". The nurse checked me and said I was 9cm.After scrambling to get everything ready and about 5 or 6 good pushes, Alexis Phong Vo was born @ 5:23pm 6lbs 13oz and 19 in long.I wound up having an episiotomy which is really tender now.
In post partum recovery, I was really stressed out. All the new feelings of being a mom.I remember trying to breastfeed her sitting in a chair and next thing I know I woke up in a bed.Turn out I had a seizure and dropped her on the linolium floor.I had a history of seizures, but hadn't had one in 3 yrs.I had no clue that the stresses of labor could bring a seizure on.Now I have to take medication for it again and I can't be left alone with Alexis for long.I also can't drive for at least 6 months while on medication.Because of the seizure, I had to stay in the hospital an extra day while they ran some tests on her.She also had a small bladder problem since she didn't go pee on her own the first day so they had to run a test on her bladder.I had a very short labor and delivery, but a very LONG and stressful postpartum.

Postartum has been difficult for me so far.I've had a terrible cold and I am ALWAYS hot.I get terrible cramps and its hard for me to care for Alexis. It's more complictated than normal because of my seizures. I have to make sure she is ALWAYS low to the ground for diaper changes, feedings, ect.All of those "simple" tasks takes a LOT of energy out of me.I am slowly recovering, day by day. It's only been a week so far.Hopefully in a few days my hot flash will go away at least. That would make things easier. For the cramps I take tylenol to get through the day. Wish me luck ladies. If you don't see me on in a while, you know why.Best wishes to all of you who are still prego and those who recently had your angels!
I am really stressed out. So many things to do.I heard being a parent was hard, but never thought it was THIS hard.Especially with the seizures, I can't drive now.Everthing is so difficult for me now.I might not be on for a while now. Wish me luck and lots of luck to everyone else.

Alexis is losing her hair from minor cradle cap and I am at a loss for what to do for it other than baby oil.Her days and nights are mixed up as well. She is sleeping more during the day then is more fussy and awake during the night. My sister- in-law suggested forming a nightly bedtime routine with her that lets her know its time to go to bed. I am going to try it and see how it goes.I miss chatting with all the women that I talked with while I was prego! We should all arrange a "baby reunion" in the future for our kids to play and for us to meet! lol.

So I went to the ER today to see a doctor for these red spots Alexis has on the back of her head. She only had one the other day and then I noticed another one today, so I went in again (2nd attemt since ER is always busy) today. They said that Allexis has 'stork bites'. They are like birthmarks and sometimes they are born WITH them and sometimes they just suddently appear. They might outgrow them but I think the doctor said it could take a year or longer. They also said I was over feeding her. I was giveing her 4 oz of formula at feedings not knowing that it was too much for her. Now she is 10 lbs 13 oz already. So they told me to cut back to 2.5-3oz for now. The doctor told me that their stomach is as big as their fist and that's how much they can handle. Alexis is NOT happy about the smaller feedings!

Alexis is 2 months old today! She can hold head head pretty steady when I have her over my shoulder and she is attempting to roll over! I think within 1 week (with some good tummy time) she will be rolling over in no time! Alexis can coo, smile, and I think she is attempting to "talk" with Mommy. lol. When I ask her a question and pause, she coos back sometimes! They grow so fast. Seems like only yesterday I saw 2 lines on the First Response test. Oh, and Alexis figured out anger at 3 wks old. When I take the bottle away during a feeding to wipe her mouth or burp her, she will scream, whine, or cry. I was surprised to discover it at 3 wks old, but I am used to it now, lol. Anyone else's baby discover their feelings like anger yet?

Well Alexis had her 2 month checkup and her shots on Wed (although Alexis turned 2 months old on Thurday!). She is 11.1 lbs and 21 3/4 in. She only grew 2 3/4 in since birth, but she is already close to double her birth weight (6.13 lbs). Alexis was NOT happy about the shots, lol, but so far she hasn't had any reactions (ie, fever, rash, swelling, ect). My doctor told me the next checkup is 4 months and she will get more shots then as well. Also that I should start solids at 4 months and to start with rice cereal. I asked 'how will I know when she is ready to start solids?' He just said ' she is going to be ready at 4 months for sure'.

Alexis is going to turn 3 months old on April 26th, which is also Chris's Birthday! One more month until she can try solids! Until then I am working on rolling over, sitting up, and the other basics!

MILESTONE: Alexis rolled over today on her own! She rolled fromher tummy to her back. I guess she got sick of being on her tummy and decided to try. She's been making the motions for a while actually. Alexis got stuck on her side for a couple seconds, and I wanted to help her out with a little push, but how would she learn? So Mommy and a stuffed Winnie the Pooh cheered her on. After another minute or 2 she completed the roll. Then Mommy jumped for joy, hugged her, screamed and called everyone I could! lol.

Alexis is now a PRO at rolling over. She 1st rolled over at 10 wks old and is now rolling over in every direction possible. She is also now VERY fast at it. The instant we put her down somewhere, she rolls onto her tummy, becuase she hates being on her back. Then she fusses, because she hates that she can't get anywhere (crawl, walk, ect). When I put her to bed in the cirb now, I still put her on her back to sleep, but she always rolls around onto her side and tummy on her own. I find her in weird positions now. lol. She is developing so fast. Alexis is also babbling a LOT, since she was 3 1/2 months old. I can't get her so quiet down. She screams, laughs like crazy, always wants to play, and frankly, I want her to grow up a little slower. lol.

Alexis has her 4 month check up today. She is 13 lbs 13 oz and 24 in.The doctor said she is doing very well with her milestones and regular health. She also got her shots today. The nurse gave her 4 seperate shots, 2 in each thigh. One shot stung her the most. She cried real hard for about 4-5 minutes and then went back to her normal self. The last tiem she got her shots she didn't have any reactions and I am hoping it's the same this time around. This time I didn't give her any baby tylenol before her shots though. Now the doctor said to look for her pushing up on her arms. Welp, that's that until her 6th month checkup!

Possibly Pregnant Again?!
I am so nervous. My period is supposed to come around Saturday but I think there is a REALLY good chance I could be pregnant again. My husband and I have had unprotected sex a few time around ovulation if the website charts were right. He is at the grocery store getting me a pregnancy test right now cause I tried to take one today but it came out invalid. I am so nervous! I don't know about having a 2nd child right now. Although, if we are we will definitely try to find a way! Wish me luck with the tests ladies!!! I will post with updates.
6/14/07
Well I took a 1st Response test and the 2nd line (2 lines means pregnant) was REALLY faint, like almost invisible but kinda there lol. So I count that as a negative, but I am going to test again in a few days, around the 16th. If I am prego, it might take time for the hCg to develop. Also, if I am, that 2nd line will definitely appear around then.
6/16/07
I took a 2nd First response test and it was even darker! I am pregnant again for sure, I know it! Chris was shocked at first but is happy. Happy Father's Day (tomorrow).
6/25/07
Still no period. It was supposed to arrive around June 16th. Boy is it late if I wasn't prego.

I just got a confirmation of pregnancy at Planned Parenthood today. They said I was positive. My hubby and I were like "Yup." The nurse was like " Oh, so you had an idea about it already?" I said "Yes." lol! Being that my lmp was May 19, my edd is Feb 23. She said that makes me 6 weeks pregnant on Saturday. Gave me a paper for signs of eptopic pregnancy and I was off with the news of baby # 2!

MILESTONE: Alexis held her bottle for the first time by herself! I even caught it on video! Wow, now I can give her a bottle and get more done. So excited and proud!
Well I can't figure out how to get my video on here. I copy and pasted the Video Code to my page a couple times and it won't work. Does anyone know how to get my videos on here? Pictures as well? It just doesn't wanna work for me... In the meantime, here is the link to see Alexis Holding Her Bottle!

So Avery Chi has arrived! I went in on Friday, the 22nd to be induced, 1 day before my edd. Otherwise my hubby couldn't be at my birth since he'd be away for a meeting out of state. Well I got there in the morning and they started me on pitocin. After some monitoring they saw the fetal heartrate was dipping with my contractions, so they stopped the pitocin, and it still dropped. The doctor said that he suspected a cord around some body part or that his head was pressing on it. So he suggested a c-section. He said if i labored any further, it would be more stress on him. I made it to 5 cm, but I figured that if its for his safety, it was best. They prepped me for a c-section as I cried my eyes out. I cried all the way to the OR. The c-section itself was easy, but recovery is a bitch. They stapled my belly and everytime I bend over or move too fast, the staples burn like hell. I get them out Friday, and I am SO excited. I can't lift or do much for 2 wks at least. It sucks, because I can't carry Alexis, and I know she misses me. I haven't held her since Thursday night. So here I am in AGONY, writing about my delivery. I can't lay down and rest, otherwise getting UP would be painful. Avery Chi was born at 2:59 pm on 2/22/08. He was 6 lbs 12 0z and 20 1/2 in long. Alexis was 6 lbs 13 oz and 19in. So he was 1 oz lighter, and 1 1/2 inches taller. LOL. So wish me a speedy recovery.
