Sept. 5th, 2008

We found out today that I will be induced on Sept. 26th, so I've changed my due date from Oct. 8th to Sept. 26th on my profile. I'm really excited. There is still a great chance that I'll go on my own, before the 26th but if not, at least I know that will be D-Day!! I'm guessing it'll be an induction considering my last two babies were both induced. Candice was 19 days past her due date, hence induced and Colton was induced 2 weeks early due to my "advanced maternal age" and gestational diabetes. I was considered High Risk with him.

Sept. 1, 2008

I just found out that I will be induced by week 38, so I've only got about 3 more weeks to go. Woo hoo!!

It's nice to be back. This is my second time making a profile on here. :) My husband and I had a baby boy (Colton James) on Aug. 18th of '07 and now we're having another baby. This one is also a boy! They'll be around 13 months apart. I find it funny when I tell people how close they'll be to each other in age, and I get that "are you crazy?" look hidden behind a kind smile. Of course, there are some who simply blurt out "Are You CRAZY?!!" too. hahaha. The truth is, my husband and I really wanted Colton to have a brother or a sister, and I'm almost 40. In fact, I'll be 40 when baby #2 is born, so we went for it. My sister and I were 11 months apart, so I guess my thinking was if my mother could do it, so can I. Mind you, she was a decade younger than me when she had us but I'm looking forward to it. I'm extremely close to my sister and I think it will be really great for our children, especially since they're both be boys. I'm not particularly looking forward to a world of testosterone . . . sports, bugs, trucks and trains. But, I had my little girl already, many years ago, so this will be great for our whole family. And hey, when my husband is off coaching the boys in baseball or football or gone fishing or hiking... I see myself lounging at home in a bubble bath, reading a good book, sipping a glass of wine and having some quality "me time" that I've already all but forgotten about. :)

July 30th

I had my OBGYN apt. today and things didn't go that great. I told my Dr. that I've been having more than 4 contractions an hour but they weren't hard or anything I was worried about. He did an internal and the good news is I'm not dialating at all (I'm only 30 weeks). But, he did decide to put me on the monitor to see how many contractions I was having. I had 12 contractions and two of them were pretty strong. Still, I wasn't worried until he told me he wants me on bed rest for the next 2 days, and he scheduled another apt. for me in 2 days to monitor me again and check the cervix. I'm still not that freaked out about it BUT I remember being sent to the hospital twice before actually going in to deliver our son last year, and I didn't enjoy either visit... I understand they don't want me to go into labor too early and will stop things if I do, but I don't have anyone to watch my son if they decide to put me in the hospital again this time. I've got to take it easy. I do notice less contractions when I just lay around on the couch, but I'm not that type of person by nature. And it's not easy when I have an 11 month old to follow around and protect from the evils of the world. hahaha. I'll post again after my Friday morning Dr. visit. I'm praying they will not send me to the hospital.

I just read you are still hurting at 7 weeks. Is it just when he latches on or the whole feeding? Do you think you could have thrush?

I cant seem to find out how to write you back on your Q &A. I might just be able to write one response. Anways, I am no doctor but I would think he is using you as a pacier. My son went to the doctor every week the first month for weight checks (he actually went every day the first week too) because he wasn't putting on enough weight(here we are a year later, he is off breastmilk and still very tiny) so I always knew week to week if he was gaining more. Have you tried different brands of pacifiers? It is rare but it could be you don't have enough milk (my doctor said this naturally happens in under 1% of women but there is an increase if you have had any breast surgery). Have you tried to pump and then bottle feed to see how much he takes in and if he does anything different? It could be a growth spurt like the other mommies suggested. My son did this but only for the first 2 weeks. At about a month he ate every 3 hours but he was a HUGE pacifier baby. He still has that damn thing in his mouth.

Actually there was a small element of pain every time my milk let down, but definitely not too bad. But I hurt like hell for the first six to seven weeks. I just kept repeating, "This too shall pass" and using my breathing techniques I was supposed to use in labor. Trust me, it does get better. Just make sure you got a good latch. I always started with my nipple pointed at the nose. Wait until the mouth opens wide (best if they are crying) and insert nipple. Make sure the tongue is down. I knew I had it right when the lip was close to touching the nose. It takes a lot of patience and practice. I loved the book, "The womanly art of breastfeeding". I am here for you if you need ANY advice or have any questions. Good Luck!

Hi, thanks for your comment about choosing a God mom. I agree is has everything to do with religion and there wouldn't be a need for one if not. I think I am going to choose my college friend, we only actually went to school one year together and remain in close contact even though we live an hour or so apart. I appreciate your opinion. Angie

Hi! thanks for commenting on my picture poll about being 25 weeks. Believe it or not I have lost weight this entire pregnancy, but my belly continues to get bigger and bigger. I don't quite know how that is possible!

oneafteranother - Wednesday, 22 October
we have a 3 bedroom too! One is my sons room one is the office. I think we will make the office an office slash babies room for the first little while then just change it to a babies room if Im having a girl and if Im having a boy I think I will just eventually move him to my sons room. 6 months old sounds like a good time to move them to the same room.. I guess I will just have to wait and see....

oneafteranother - Wednesday, 22 October
Thanks for the advice.. I actually just noticed this morning that he has another molar coming through.. maybe that is whats wrong? But can they wake up that often during the night for a month straight because of teething? I don't give him a bottle or ANYTHING else in the middle of the night anymore. I have been doing this since he was 6 months. Most of the time I can put his pacifier back in his mouth, pat his back and then he will go to sleep. Only occasionaly do I have to keep this up for more than 5 minutes but I NEVER pick him up. Im not sure if he is having nightmares or teething or what? I do give him a sippy cup of formula right before bedtime and it is around 7:30 that I do this than I put him to bed around 8:00. I put him down in his crib awake too! Which he is pretty good now about falling to sleep on his own. He usually will cry for 5-10 min then fall asleep. It is just the waking in the night that is bugging the heck out of me! Plus I do the same routine for naps and he only will sleep for a half hour to an hour.. I think the kid just doesn't like to sleep! Let me know if you see anything that doesn't sound like the best thing to do out of this book! Thanks for listening!

oneafteranother - Wednesday, 22 October
Thanks soo much for your advice! Do you have the kids sleeping in the same room? I don't think Im going to do that until a year or two or maybe just put the new baby in a completely diff room. The only prob I am having is my 11 month old is waking up every 3 hours at night.. he hates to sleep! I have tried EVERY method with him and haven't gotten any sleep in about 2 months.. hopefully it is just a phase. I cannot imagine getting up with 2 of them. My husband says that he is going to help me alot but he isn't all that hands on right now. He says he will get up with my older one and help out more.. Im crossing my fingers! Congrats on your new baby.. we will have to keep in touch, I might be asking you for more advice.

april mcspadden - Wednesday, 22 October

Poor little connor has to have surgrey for a hernia.=(
sometime in the next couple weeks. how are the boys doin'?

~amy~ - Tuesday, 21 October
Personally, I agree with you about the free birthing. I think homebirths are fine for some and more power to them for doing it but to go unassisted I believe is very irresponsible. Yes some births are perfect but gosh when things go wrong they go wrong fast.. I wouldn't want to put myself or Joel in that position.

april mcspadden - Thursday, 16 October
