I am happily married and living in San Antonio, Texas with my husband and beautiful daughter. We have been living in Texas for one year now and are now getting settled. We are adjusting to parenthood and are fascinated with how fast our daughter is growing and how smart she is. I considered being a stay at home mom, but I know deep down I would miss being a social worker. So I am working part time as a therapist in a psychiatric hospital to continue with my career and also be a good mother to my child. I am very opinionated but also open minded. I try not to be judgmental so I think this is why people feel like they can trust me.

Yes, Isabel Grace Witt arrived in the world on August 13, 2007 at 7:27pm. She weighed 6lbs, 6 oz and was 19 inches long. She had a good amount of blonde hair and blue eyes. She is the most amazing and beautiful thing I have ever seen. I don't believe I am biased either. Lol! So for those of you who want to know the gruesome details of my labor experience, read on. If not then stop here.

Okay so here it is. My water broke at 1:15am on Monday, the 13th. I was told to not worry about rushing to the hospital until my contractions became more consistent. I experienced some mild contractions, but nothing major. At 8:30am I called my doctors office to ask them when I should come in even with my contractions being inconsitent. They like to deliver the baby within 24 hours of your water breaking so they told me to go ahead and come to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 9:30am, confirmed my water actually broke and started me on Pitossin (spelling?) to induce labor and make contractions more regular. So I handled the contractions pretty well for the most part. They started to become harder and closer together around 3:00pm. They were 2-3 minutes apart and I was 3-4 cm dilated. The Dr predicted, I would have the baby around 9:00pm. At this point the contractions were getting unbearable so I finally asked for the epidural. I wished I would have asked for it sooner because I did not get it until around 4:00pm. Let me say relief. I was numb and felt no contractions. I took an hour nap and rested up. This is when the story gets rough. I woke up from my nap able to feel my legs. I informed the nurse and she told me that depending on the epidural that was normal. So I was like okay. If I am not feeling the contractions then it must be working. She left the room and five minutes later, I had horrible back pain and started to feel my contractions. The nurse contacted the anestesiaologist (spelling?) to give me more meds. Still did not work. But at this point the Dr. went into another surgery so I could not get more meds or a new epidural. Let me tell you pain. Contractions were coming within 30 seconds and hard. Intense back pain. At 6:00pm, I was 9 cm and almost ready to go. The nurse paged the on call dr and informed me that I would probably have the baby in the next 20 minutes. The Dr did not show up until about 7:20pm. By the time he walked in the door, he was putting on his scrubs and the baby's head just popped out. I finished the delivery and she was a healthy baby. I cannot tell you the intense pain and pressure I felt. I had no medication and delivered her au natural. I can't believe I did it, but you have no choice when it gets to that point. So I know this was long but I left out a lot of details also. Although this was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, my new baby girl was worth it.

Sorry, I use the banana boat that "claims" it's as gentle to babies skin as water, and it "claims" it's hypoallergenic and won't sting eyes. If that's that same one you tried, I don't know of any.

Which 3 kinds of sunblock did you try?

Thanks for letting me I am not the only one. I am sure Liliana just wants to do more then she can all alone but I can't stand the tantrums cause she throws her body all about no matter where she is..lucky she has not hurt herself. Hopefully this will pass really soon lol good luck =)

I was reading your comment on your baby not wanting to eat much. How much does your lo weigh? My son is the opposite. He eats alot and is almost 6 months and only weighs 15 lbs. It is interesting that weight doesn't always determine how much they eat.

Thanks so much for your comment. He's changed soo much. He is really smart and thinks it's not 'cool' to be smart. Well, he told the counceler last night that he used to have to think to NOT say big words in front of people, but now it comes naturally. I guess they think talking 'like you're dumb' is cool. That's not the end of the world though. He'd do ANYTHING to make people think he's cool. I can remember being a teenager and wanting to be cool too, so I know that part is normal. He has the ADHD and puberty hitting and he's trying to learn how to deal with it all. It gets hard when they look at you like you're the enemy instead of coming to you with things. This is all REAL recent. About 9 months ago it started happening, so we as parents are trying to learn what is best to do. It's hard when it's your first! We might be more ready for it with our 2nd. Probably not!! lol

I haven't started introducing veggies & fruit with Eli yet, but what you do is give the cereal twice a day (I normally do morning and evening), then when you add in veggies, give a little less cereal with some veggies as well at the same meal. By the time they are 6 months old, you add in a lunch as well (at that time I normally only do the cereal at breakfast breakfast time with some fruit). Then for dinner, I do veggies and fruit. After you add in meats I'd do a 1/2 jar of meat with veggies and fruit for dessert. Whatever works best with your little one. Just so you know... I'm only saying this because I wasn't told this by my doc and didn't know with my last one. NEVER feed a baby under 1 year honey, broccoli or corn. Also, don't feed fish, eggs or shellfish until after 2 years. Don't feed peanutbutter until after 3 years old. For allergy reasons. I asked my doc about the peanutbutter before I fed it to my 16 month old and he said it was fine, that he's sure he's been exposed to peanuts by then... guess what... HE'S ALLERGIC TO PEANUTS AND EGG WHITES. I'm not positive it was because he had them too soon. But, it might be.

I was told to do cereal twice a day. You can (don't have to) introduce a new food every 3-5 days. You can always combine them with something they've already been introduced with (like the cereal). Introduce the orange veggies first (sweet potato, squash and carrots), then green beans and peas. Then start introducing the fruits in the same way.

My doctor told me the same thing 2 weeks ago, 1 cm and about 30% effaced. I went back this week and I was 2 cm and about 60% effaced. I didnt think I was having any BH either and I definatly wasnt in any kind of pain like everyone else seemed to be. My doctor said I was progressing nicely and I didnt feel anything, so maybe its the same for you too!!

Cris-- I accidentally posted my comment on the main page, so I dont know if you read it. What you probably have is called a PUPP rash. Its harmless, but annoying Im sure! Look it up to see if its what you have.
