Born on December 22, 2007 at 7:47am
8lb 12oz , 21 ¾ inches
Birth story:
We were scheduled for an induction on Thursday night 12/20/07 at midnight, but we received a call from the Hospital sometime Thursday night telling us that there were no beds available and they put us on call, so we were supposed to stay still and wait for them to call us. Finally on Friday 12/21/07 at around 4pm I received a call asking us to head over to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at around 5pm, and by 6pm and were hooked up on the bed with IVs and all the good stuff. The doctor said that at that time I was already having contractions, my body was doing it naturally, but I was not feeling them at all. They gave me Pitocin and that straighten them so I started to recognize each contractions as it was coming but at that point they were not very painful and I was able to breathe thru them. It wasn’t that bad. At around 8:30pm my water broke.... OMG that was quiet an experience ;). At that point I was 2 going to 3 centimeters dilated. At 9pm my hubby left to give my mom a ride home, because we decided that it was going to be a long night and there was no point for her to stay. At 9:15pm my contractions were getting quiet painful and the nurse came in and told me that since my water broke, my doctor approved to get epidural at anytime from this point on. I was very excited because I was already in pain, but I was scared to get the epidural without my hubby so I told the nurse that I would like to wait for him to come back and then have it done (big mistake!!!!! If I knew what was to follow in the next one hour I would have not waited at all lol). So I called my hubby and told him to hurry back because I was in pain and I wanted epidural ASAP. It took an hour by the time he came back and they gave me the epidural, pretty painful hour. The procedure of the epidural sounds scarier that it is, it didn’t hurt at all, I was just so scared and it was hard to sit and hold still while having contractions, but as soon as they gave me the anesthesia I felt a relieve, at that point it was almost 11pm. 10 minutes after the epidural took into effect my hubby and I were relaxing and enjoying the silence when all of a sudden the nurse and at least 10 more people rush into the room, whey pushed Sean away from my bed laid me down flat and start flipping my to the left, right, and all kind of directions... nobody was telling me what was going on. They put an oxygen mask on me and kept saying they couldn’t find the heartbeat of the baby. I was so scared I don’t really remember much clearly. The nurse came to me and said they may have to rush me to the operation room if they can not find his tones. They said they called my doctor and he was on his way to the hospital. Finally they were able to find his heart beet by putting something on the top of his head. After we all calmed down they told me I was having very strong contractions every 30 seconds and I dilated from 2.5 to 7 centimeters in less than 10 min.... that was a big shock for the baby and he had no time to relax between those contractions. They said they gave me a shot to stop my contractions and they stopped the pitocin. My doctor came in shortly after (It was almost midnight) and checked me ... I was dilated to 8 centimeters. Since my body was having natural contractions he decided to not give me pitocin anymore and let the nature take into effect. It took the whole night 12 midnight until 5:30am for me to dilate to 10 centimeters. Even thou I was not having any pain thanks to the epidural I could not sleep at all, because I was freezing. At some point I had a little fever and my blood pressure was running awfully low, but not that low to cause a concern. We start pushing at 5:30am and he was born at 7:47am, it took 2 hours 27 min to push that big boy out of my body. I ended up having epistomy, again I did not feel a thing thanks to the epidural. They let the epidural stay until he was born and the doctor stitched me. Pushing wasn’t painful at all, but it was exhausting. It is crazy.... I could feel every contraction and the urge to push but the pain was missing. But anyway.... he was beautiful and perfect. It is a love from first sight!!! I would do it all over again for another gift from God like himJ.
