My name is Donna and I live in Texas. This was an unexpected pregnancy, but it has turned out to be a wonderful surprise.

I found out 12.5.07 from a HPT. And then went to the clinic on 12.6.07 for an official test. All tests were positive and they dated my pregnancy to be 5 weeks. My due date is August 9th so far, but we will see what my doctor says when I go in for an Ultrasound.

There are a lot of things I don't know, and some that I do know. Both my sisters have had 3 kids, and my brother has experienced 2 childbirths with his wife. I am willing to take advice and give as this time goes on. I hope all you soon to be mothers, and women who are trying to conceive have a wonderful holiday season, and I hope everyone keeps safe and happy :)

update: My due date has changed a few times and now I am due 8.8.08, pretty cool, I will have my second OB visit feb 25, i got to hear the babys heart beat feb 1st :) it was so exciting :)

AND I FINALLY FIT INTO MATERNITY PANTS! lol, im not big but none of my old pants will fit!! (week 14)

Week 17- I can now feel the baby kick on an almost regular basis, it doesnt really feel like kicking, but more like tapping. I get an ultra sound to check the baby's gender on Wednesday March 5th :)

March 5th, 2008 we found out our babys gender! (ITS A BOY!!)

March 5th- Andy (the father) felt the baby kick once, the baby is getting strong enough to be felt out side of me! And it tickles sometimes!!

Week 19 - March 16th- I feel the baby kick on a daily basis. He doesn't seem to like me driving or being in a moving car, he kicks more then. I feel him move around and wiggle as well. I cannot believe that I am almost half way there! :)

Week 20- March 22nd- Someone asked me today when I was due (she was washing my hair before I got my hair cut). This is the first time someone asked with out me telling them! She said she could tell it was BABY and NOT FAT :) I was sooo happy :) I still am. So I finally LOOK pregnant :)

Week 23- April 17, 2008- I started my new job yesterday, people asked when I was due. ^_^ The baby is kicking my ribs now a days, lol, not the best feeling in the world but very interesting. I never thought I would ever have a child, or at least I never imaged myself as a mother, this is a wonderful experience. All except for the back pains, ha ha.

Week 27- May 13, 2008 - Yay!! Third trimester!!!

Week 29- May 26, 2008 - Had to make a trip to the hospital today, left work early. I felt some back pains and I felt like I was having stronger braxton hicks, but apparently I was having actual contractions. The doctors told me to go to the hospital to get checked out after calling them. Apparently I was dehydrated, and they said I needed to eat more frequently. They also gave me a shot to stop the contractions. It stung, and then made me feel shakey, like I just downed 15 espressos. But the baby and I are fine now, which makes me happy. He is still too little to be born... just need a few more months.

Week 30- June 4, 2008 - Almost in week 31 :) Finally and I will be in my new apartment soon :) I just can't wait! It will be bigger, and in a much nicer area than I live in now. I will be closer to a lot of my family, and closer to my job as well. Andy celebrates getting a new job he starts this weekend :) I will be able to see him more often and he will be making some good money for the baby :) We also decided on the name ;) I will post that later.

Week 32 - June 13, 2008 - Well the baby has been trying to do flips inside of me, but is finding it hard to do so now. He pushes and pushes and my belly looks like a roller coaster because of him sometimes! Oh and my ribs hurt! My feet have gotten better though, I am happy about that! I have most of my baby gear set up (bassinet and blankets) so far. I just cant wait!

Week 34 - June 27, 2008 - I am getting so much closer to my due date and it is exciting me! My hips hurt after sleeping, I guess they are moving to accommodate the baby. We also think the baby is dropping. I have been feeling more pressure on my pelvic floor, and some sharp pains occasionally. And Andy says my belly looks a little lower, but not much. So our baby seems to want to meet us just as much as we want to see him! :) I have packed the baby's bag for the hospital, but I have yet to pack my own, lol...I know what I need, I am just being lazy about it. I will have to pack it soon or I will end up doing it the night the baby arrives!

Week 34 - July 1, 2008 - On bed rest, went to the hosp. for having contractions. They were somewhere around 5 min apart at the most , lasting 1 min each. I called my doc and he said it was too soon, and he wants to stop the contractions, and to go into the hosp. so they did that, and I am still in the hosp (July 3rd) they gave me an oral med last night and since that worked, i might be going home today! The doc wants to wait until the preferred week 37.

Week 35 - July 8, 2008 - Technically I am ONE month away from my "due date" but everyone knows I am going to have the baby soon. I went to the doctor today for my weekly check up and I am now 75% effaced, and 1 cm dilated (last week I was 30% effaced and 1 cm dilated) so I am progressing. The baby feels like he is pushing down constantly. I predict I will go into labor full time in about a week. That actually puts him close to when I thought he would be due, rather than when the doc or my friends say (it just shows how well you know your body, and your baby). I just hope we make it to week 37 or very close to it so my baby wont be in NICU. I am still on bed rest and meds for now.

Week 36 - July 15, 2008 - Starting to have contractions today AGAIN. They stay far apart, and get closer, and they slowed down it seems or at least they are LESS intense. They dont HURT though. But we do have a doctor appt today. We will see what he says in a few hours about how I am doing, dilating, effacing and such. I think I have less than a week until I see my baby boy (maybe even less than a day if these contractions pick up). And at this point, only 2 days away from being in week 37, there is no use STOPPING them. He will be considered full term... And I don't agree with all the medicine being pumped into me that much, esp if he has tried to come out so often! He obviously WANTS to be born! Poor guy just wants to meet his Daddy and Mommy :) My mother told me to go for a walk to get the contractions started, I might do that after my doc appt. My little kicker keeps pushing up on my lungs like he is trying to push DOWN *ouch*

Week 36- July 15, 2008 - Went to the hospital after doctors appointment, I have Toxemia. We have to induce labor...

Week 36- July 17, 2008 - BABY BOY CALVIN IS BORN!! After 22 hours of labor!

July 21, 2008 - Baby boy finally gets to come home with us at 10 pm from the hospital (he was in NICU). He is doing GREAT!

July 22, 2008 - More of an update on myself. I had to go to the hospital ER in the early morning after feeling sick all night. I had some heart failure, high blood pressure, over flow of body fluids (i was swollen!) and Pnemonia! I stayed in the SICU for a few days and then moved up to a regular room until July 26, 2008 when I finally went home. I am now taking care of my little boy finally.

Pregnancy is rough, but he is worth it... :)

Yeah, I think I will complain to the owner...the scary thing is I don't think they have a head doc or a doc at all working there...just certified ultrasound specialists and staff! I feel completely stupid now and wish I had been more aggressive in getting answers on their experience. to top it all off they gave me some disclosure thing to sign and didn't give it to me to read until right before the lady called me...so I didn't have time to really read it and felt like the tech telling me to just 'glance over it and sign' was making me sign under duress since I thought I was using my 15 min up trying to read it! I'm glad you had a better experience that was nice they let you have a couple shots and it was a short exposure time. I'm only working with doctors from now on, for sure. Thanks for your comments:)

Aww they all sound gorgeous! When my house is finished im defo gonna get more! People dont seem to understand how loving and interactive they are! Me and Paul said our kids would have pet rats! Ive got rabbits that i love to death but they couldnt care less if they see us from one day to the next!! Im sure they dont even like me!! Lol! My two rats (we called them petrol & diesel) died in the space of 24 hours at 18 months old, it was heartbreaking, i like to think they couldnt live without each other.
I know how you feel with weight gain, i can stop eating! It wouldnt be so bad if i could walk my dog like i used to but i have terrible pains in my stomach when i do, so im on strict instructions to take it easy! Whats a girl to do?! Ive got a scan on the 15th to check the size of my baby coz i was 11lb 14ozs when i was born, just gotta check it dont run in the family!! I sure hope not!

Im good thanks! Going to see the midwife tomorrow, so that'll be nice! Ive got tons of baby clothes too! Ive only got to 3 months tho, i didnt think to get bigger ones! I may just be havin a look round for some this weekend tho!! Lol! Is a bassinet like a moses basket? Bet you cant wait for june now! I wanted to get my stuff sorted sooner so that i could just spend the summer hibernating in front of a fan! I hope they've got a/c in the labour wards!! Lol!
I like the name Calvin! Me and my hubby are making a shortlist then picking one when the babys born, my plan is that he'll be so overwhelmed that he'll just let me pick! Ha ha!

Hows you doin today? Hope your well! Im okay, just feel massive! Lol! Its great tho! Except my mother-in-law keeps commenting that its twins, she just aint getting it, ive had 5 scans all in all, there really is only one baby! Ha ha! I had wicked toothache over the weekend tho which wasnt nice! Had to see the emergency dentist!
Have you picked out any names yet?
I got alot of the big stuff, im storing at my in-laws tho. Havnt got a pram sorted yet, thats next on the list!

We dont know what we're having, i wanted to know but hubby wanted a surprise, so we are waiting till august! Im okay with it, now ive gotten used to not knowing! Most people seem to think our baby is gonna be a boy! Wow i cant imagine how hot it is where you are! Im worrying bout summer too but at least its only a british summer! Have you got any of the big stuff for your baby yet? Cot, pram etc? xx

Ive only found 1 person in the uk on this forum whos taking them. Yeah i like taking the vits, you feel reassured that if some days you havnt eaten as healthy as you'd like to, you know your baby is still getting what it needs. We dont do iron tablets over here unless your actually anemic, its probably why we're all so tired all the time! Lol! Are you having a boy? xx

I am so with you on that! My mom is the same way as your dad and my girls' dad. She walked out when I was two, but she tells everyone she raised me and my sister. Such bs. And my daughters' father owes us $50,000 in child support. At the end of the day, I know the truth, the girls know he was never around, just as you knew your dad was full of it. Insanity!

My husband is the same way as your bf, he doesn't do the whole talk to the belly thing, but he does come with to appointments (when he can) and is 1000 times more involved then my ex. By the way, congratulations on having a boy. Are you from California as well? I grew up in Southern California before making my way east. I am sure your bf's family will absolutely love the baby. Regardless of your relationship then or now, the baby will still be part of their family and you will see all of the babysitting offers flowing in.

Pregnacare is like the main brand of pre-natel vitamins in the uk i think? My midwife reccommended them but i buy them over the counter. They're for conception, pregnancy and breastfeeding. Its got like 17 vitamins and minerals in it including folic acid. My only concern was that if im eating a balanced diet could i be getting too many vitamins? D'ya think that could happen?

yesa mine just decides to batter me from the inside out! its a mummy beater i swear hehe.
andys good with kids so hes gonna end p teaching me lol hes less nrvous about the looking after a baby part than i am but hes more nervous about the its actually gonna be HIS baby bit hehe.
Hes taking me to get my moses basket 2morrow! £21 for a brand new basket and stand thats worth £70 BARGIN!! hehe
hows ur baby? mine seems to just love letting me know tis there, sometimes it doesnt move 1st thing in the morning n i get all scared hehe xxxxxx
