Here I am, 39 and pregnant - again. I suffered a miscarriage in December. This will be my first (and only) child if all goes well. I've had a lot of cramping, which I also had in my last pregnancy and it scares me a lot. After reading this site, though, I don't feel so bad and it is much more common than I thought. I'm hoping and looking forward to a happy, healthy, and successful pregnancy term.

March 30

At the end of week 9. Feeling fine, just kinda tired. I get pains in my lower abdomen. I hope that it's my uterus accomodating a growing baby. My tummy feels slightly hungry/nauseous once in while and that's definitely not normal for me. Still running and doing crunches. My abs hurt like heck when I get up from doing crunches. Weird!

April 7

11 weeks today and have no symptoms aside from starting to get tired again and tender nipples. First appointment is a week from today. I'd like to think I'm lucky and hope my first appointment doesn't prove otherwise.

April 16

Had my first ultrasound on the 14th. Baby was still but there was a heartbeat. Didn't get to hear it. :-( My due date is uncertain as the doctor got two different measurements, but still the end of October.

April 25

Heard the heartbeat today! 162 beats per minute. Music to my ears. Cervix is tightly shut and all signs point to a normal pregnancy. I'm a happy camper!

May 7

Made it through a painful amnio yesterday. Luckily, the pain only lasted two seconds or so when the needle was inserted. After that, it was cake. Heartbeat was 150 beats per minute and he/she was waving at us during the ultrasound. Feeling fine. No movement yet. Still tired, but making it a point to continue exercising and building the best baby I possibly can.

May 16

Got my amnio results today. We're having a very healthy baby boy. Not the pink I was hoping for, but I love him nonetheless. I am thrilled to be a mother!

June 4

Had my 20 week ultrasound today. It was great to see him, weighing a whopping 12 ounces! 130 heart beats per minute. He didn't move much, despite all the prodding the technician did. Pregnancy is going great, even though I haven't felt him move yet. I long for that day....

June 6

I finally "got the boot" tonight. What an amazing feeling! I love my son!

July 19

26 weeks tomorrow and boy do I finally feel pregnant in every sense of the term. I'm tired, my back hurts, it's hard to bend. I feel him moving often and it makes me so incredibly happy.

Yeah, the humidity is pretty bad in the summers here. The journal is a good idea for the pregnancy. There are a bunch of baby memory book on this site too http://www.baby-memory-books.com/Carters_s/59.htm On this site you can actually tell what each pages topics are. I got one that has a place for ultrasound pictures, etc. I used to have trouble with my heart rate monitor trying to slide down. Now that my belly is getting bigger and I've gained a little bit of weight it seems to stay put a little better.

Yeah, I have to walk up the hills, but still run most it. I don't feel I've slowed down much, so I'm happy about that! Oh I bet you do get unique looks when the nurses see you have a helmet. haha I'd love to see their faces. We live in Nebraska, once his daughter graduates from high school we'd like to move elsewhere though (I really hate the winters here!). The humidity is horrible here right now. Today was 90% humidity and the high was suppose to be 89 degree, but my car was reading in the low 90's. I'm probably going to have to start working out more at the gym, because I don't feel that great in this kind of heat and I don't want the baby to get too hot. I just ordered a baby memory book online from Amazon, so I can start to record some of the prenatal info. I cannot wait to get it! My mom made one for me when I was a baby and I always though it was interesting. How's the maternity belt you ordered working out?

My running been going fine. Still doing around 4 miles a day. How's your running going? I'm not sure my husband was to excited to have another child either, but now that it's on it's way I think he's happy. I told him when we met though that I wanted to have one, so he knew it's what I wanted. That's pretty cool you have your own bike. You should take pics of you both on the bike because I'm sure he'll think that's pretty cool when he's older! I don't have my operators license for a motorcycle. Maybe next year I'll take a class to learn to ride. I've just been riding on the back of my husband's bike. My doctor told me no more motorcycle after 12 weeks though. That's been tough. We typically take a yearly trip on the bike in Aug./Sept. to Colorado and ride around the state. We won't be able to do that this year though. We have been going out a lot more on our boat lately, but now it's been getting so warm and humid outside that I can only take a couple of hours of the heat and then have to go home.

Haha! Yeah, my belly looks pregnant to me, but I don't think most people can really tell yet. Are you still wearing normal clothes? I've moved on to maternity clothes, but some of them are kind of big on me. The 3D/4D ultrasounds are cool! I have my ultrasound 2 days after you have your next one. I took the day off work : ) I have gotten a few items for the baby. Mostly items my mom has bought for the baby though - high chair, swing, tub, exersaucer, walker, car seat, potty chair, sleepers, bedding set, etc. I'll be getting a really nice crib from a guy that I work with. I'll probably have a baby shower at the end of the summer for things that I know we'll still need like diapers, wipes, formula, jogging stroller, etc. We are not planning on having any more kids, but I'm sure my brother and sister-in-laws will have kids so we'll probably hand a lot of stuff down to them. Are you planning on having anymore kids? As soon as I find out if it is a boy or girl though I want to buy the baby an outfit! If it is a girl, I'll probably buy a cute dress, but if it is a boy I might get something Harley Davidson or motorcycle related because my husband has a bike. The hat you got sounds really cute! We are hoping for a boy, but I'll be just as happy with a girl really.

Well, I called Wednesday and found out everything was normal with the blood work we had done! That is such a relief to know everything is okay with the baby. Now, I just have to wait two weeks for the ultrasound. I cannot wait to find out what we are having. Do you get another ultrasound? Have you bought anything for the baby yet?

I'm sorry you feel like that and I totally understand because girls are soooooo cute to dress up and to go shopping with us but you are still young and you can always try for second one. My boss started having family when she was 41 and now she's pregnant again and she is soon to be 44. So, don't get discouraged you look very healthy I don't see why you can't try again.

That's wonderful news that everything went okay with your mom! I keep seeing different info on each web site as well. Maybe it just depends on our particular baby. Either way, I cannot even imagine it being 5 inches! I've entered the first date of my last menstral cycle on a few sites and I've gotten anywhere from the 25 to the 27th of Oct. I know that is just an estimate anyway, but it is still pretty funny how they are different. There is so much information out there! I could spend hours online each week just researching the weekly what to expect!

Hey Daisey, well guess what? I couln't wait till Thursday for my amnio results and I called the Dr. who performed the Amnio and he said yes your results are in and they came back normal, everything looks great! Then he said would you like to know what your having? I said sure and he said your having a baby girl. Very excited that my baby is healthy!!!

Oh wow, sorry to hear about your mom having a triple bypass. I hope everything went okay. That's great that you like the belt. I need to get one and probably soon. It seems like this week I've started to show a little more than I have been so perhaps I should order one because it looks like on a lot of the sites they are on back order. That's good to hear about the back sleeping because I was concerned I was doing harm. Oh no, a boy huh? I'm sure he'll be wonderful anyway. So I take it you got your amino results back? Yeah, it doesn't seem like the babies could be that large. Have you felt any movement yet?

I have no doubt he will look great in pink! Hey you may not feel hot in a bikini right now but I'm sure there is a lot of us out there who wish we looked a tiny bit like you in a bikini,,,,,,grrr. I'm sure your husband thinks you look hotter than ever,,,,just think once you have your baby you'll start working out and feeling hot again. You are right about wanting a little girl since you already know how boys are,,,did you know my son and your stepson have the same birthday,,,well my son a few years younger but both of them are from June 10th. How did your prenatal go on Wednesday? Did you ask about sleeping on your back at all? I have been trying so hard to stay on my sides, but I'm just not comfortable that way. It's tough!

Daisey I'm not going to say I'm sorry because you didn't get your baby girl because boys are awesome too and they are actually mommies boys because I hear girls follow daddy more and that sure is the case with my son,,,,he is the most loveable little boy and when you walk holding their little hand they are soooooo proud that Mommy is holding their hand. My son even tells me Mommy I'm going to marry you LOL!!! I know girls are beautiful but so are boys and the only thing you should feel happy about is that he is healthy and will not have any problems. Your baby boy is going to be a hell of a gorgeous boy,,,,watch out girls!!! hehehe

On the other hand, I'm still feeling nervous about my results on Thursday can't wait and at the same time I'm scared! I don't even care if they say you will be having another boy because I just want him HEALTHY!! I will keep you posted, promise. I feel like I've known you for ever! Thanks.

I haven't really felt any movements either but we will,,,soon we won't be able to work with the little kicks!! Please let me know as soon as you get your results. Thanks, I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day too! Can they tell the sex of the baby off of the amino or do you have to get another ultrasound done? I have had a few of those dizzy spells as well. I've also been having difficulty sleeping at night already too. I'll get up to go to the bathroom then just cannot get comfortable enough to fall back asleep. I've been a back sleeper for a long time but my doctor said no more back after four months. I have found a few times where I've rolled onto my back in my sleep and then my back will be hurting me when I wake up. I'm thinking this baby must be pretty far back in me or something and by doing that it puts pressure on my spine. Have you had any back pain?

The oil from Burke, doesn't list the ingredients! Kind of strange, I'll call them and see if I can find out! That is important to know exactly what is in it! All the bottle says is organic oil and rosehip oil. I'll let you know as soon as I find out what's in it :)

thank you so much for the comments.... and that dress is actually a piece of lingerie from Victoria's Secret.... ;) We had a "sexy" photo session done after our wedding and it was so much fun.
Thank you very much for the encouragement. We're certainly not wasting any sperm. :) I should ovulate Saturday and so the real trying will begin Wednesday but we've already started. You're so funny.... laying there with your legs up! That's hilarious! I'll have to try that out too.... obviously it works!
Did you use the ovulation predictor sticks or did you just go by the calendar?
Well.... wish me luck.... hopefully in the next several days, I'll ovulate like I'm supposed to and we will certainly be making sure that there's plenty of sperm to go around. :)
I have good feelings that everything will be perfect. :)

ohhh... so wonderful to read your story. I had a m/c in early April and just finished my first af. My hubbie and I are trying again and we're 7 days away from ovulation. It's wonderful to see that you concieved again and that all is well.
I hope so so so much to have the same luck. Congratulations dear... it's awesome that things are going so well for you this time around! I'm very happy for you. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!
