Here I am, 39 and pregnant - again. I suffered a miscarriage in December. This will be my first (and only) child if all goes well. I've had a lot of cramping, which I also had in my last pregnancy and it scares me a lot. After reading this site, though, I don't feel so bad and it is much more common than I thought. I'm hoping and looking forward to a happy, healthy, and successful pregnancy term.

March 30

At the end of week 9. Feeling fine, just kinda tired. I get pains in my lower abdomen. I hope that it's my uterus accomodating a growing baby. My tummy feels slightly hungry/nauseous once in while and that's definitely not normal for me. Still running and doing crunches. My abs hurt like heck when I get up from doing crunches. Weird!

April 7

11 weeks today and have no symptoms aside from starting to get tired again and tender nipples. First appointment is a week from today. I'd like to think I'm lucky and hope my first appointment doesn't prove otherwise.

April 16

Had my first ultrasound on the 14th. Baby was still but there was a heartbeat. Didn't get to hear it. :-( My due date is uncertain as the doctor got two different measurements, but still the end of October.

April 25

Heard the heartbeat today! 162 beats per minute. Music to my ears. Cervix is tightly shut and all signs point to a normal pregnancy. I'm a happy camper!

May 7

Made it through a painful amnio yesterday. Luckily, the pain only lasted two seconds or so when the needle was inserted. After that, it was cake. Heartbeat was 150 beats per minute and he/she was waving at us during the ultrasound. Feeling fine. No movement yet. Still tired, but making it a point to continue exercising and building the best baby I possibly can.

May 16

Got my amnio results today. We're having a very healthy baby boy. Not the pink I was hoping for, but I love him nonetheless. I am thrilled to be a mother!

June 4

Had my 20 week ultrasound today. It was great to see him, weighing a whopping 12 ounces! 130 heart beats per minute. He didn't move much, despite all the prodding the technician did. Pregnancy is going great, even though I haven't felt him move yet. I long for that day....

June 6

I finally "got the boot" tonight. What an amazing feeling! I love my son!

July 19

26 weeks tomorrow and boy do I finally feel pregnant in every sense of the term. I'm tired, my back hurts, it's hard to bend. I feel him moving often and it makes me so incredibly happy.

Falling is scary enough when you aren't even pregnant. I've always been concerned I'd knock my teeth out or something. This time I was more concerned about the baby though. Aaron pretty much had a heart attack to after I fell too. I was pretty sure everything was going to be okay, but he was very worried. Glad to know that your fall wasn't bad. It can be scary.

oh, that's cool..working with family :) I used to be a realtor after nursing...but not for long in this market! I ate chinese food last night, feel sooooooo bloated, yuck! getting a new A/C today, yeah..it's been hot, hard to sleep at night. Do you know Brooke Burke, the actress? Her ex husband Dr. Garth Fisher is my plastic surgeon. He does a lot of strippers/playboy models boobies.

stacy5175 - Friday, 25 July
thanks :) My boobs don't feel or look like mine..it's weird, still not used to DD! Used to be a C cup! I was an A cup after breastfeeding my daughter for a year! saline or silicone? mine are saline. I wish I was tan like you :)

stacy5175 - Friday, 25 July
I checked on Ebay for the Wii Fit, more $$$$. Yeah, Gamestop told me to call them every morning to see if they got a shipment in...they could hold it for an hour. I'm thinking of getting 2 of them for the family. Costco is sold out too! Where are you going to work? you are brave, I don't think I could work now. WOW, moving in 1 week! Awesome, send me pics of the new place ;) I think I'm going to get a van, I know...not very exciting. A total MOM car! We'll probably move in a year or so. How is the real estate market up there?

Love78 - Friday, 25 July
I still have the same stroller registered for right now. My only concern is that it might be kind of crappy. I cannot really seem to find any reviews on it with people that have actually gone jogging with it. Those that have walked with it love it though, so at least I know that.

stacy5175 - Friday, 25 July
We have the opposite situation....we need a bigger house (now it's 2700 sq. ft) too small for a family of 5! I also need a bigger car ;) I tried to get the Wii fit today, every place was sold out! Must be good! My weight gain is like that too...all the sudden I gain a few pounds, and then for weeks it's the same. So happy, I went on an hour walk, NO PAIN..yeah!! I just over did it with the eliptical machine. I'll stick to walking. Congratulations on your new home! When do you move?

stacy5175 - Thursday, 24 July
where are you moving? That's awesome :) Great time to buy! We have to decide what to do, either move to a bigger home or add on a room/BR. We had a contractor come out, we don't have the ideal house to add on..so we might move too! I'm setting up the babies stuff in our bedroom for now. Do you have the Wii Fit? I checked it out online, looks great...does it have different levels of difficulty? Might get it for the family. My hip is better, yeah! I'm up to 17 lbs....scary! I think I might take an easy walk today. I wish we lived closer ;)

Love78 - Thursday, 24 July
In elementary school I was always the girl who finished the course. I was the only girl in gym that could climb the rope and I did the most amount of pull-ups. I couldn't do a pull up so save my life now probably. lol So have you looked any more at strollers lately?

stacy5175 - Wednesday, 23 July
ugh, tell me about it...definitely harder being pregnant at 40 than it was when I was 30! Worried so much more about vanity issues. I noticed more spider veins on my legs now, soooo ugly. hoping they go away too. Yeah, somedays I feel great, and others tired all day. I bought Tracy Austin's pilates DVD's...she's my favorite...I do pilates and yoga at home. I waste money when I join the gym, don't go enough. My son has the Wii...all you have to do is by the Wii fit game then? Or is it a totally different system?

stacy5175 - Wednesday, 23 July
you will totally bounce right back to your prepregnancy figure...the hardest area is the stomach...but I swear by pilates and situps. I don't know for me though, now after #3 how flat I'll be :) I'm depressed too, I talked to my dr. yesterday...he said I have bursitis of the hip and need to take it easy. Funny how my dr. and NP always make me feel like exercise isn't such a priority...like oh it's not big deal just "take it easy". I think it helps me more mentally when I work out. Yummy, home made pizza....home made crust too? I don't normally eat hot dogs either, except at baseball games. how cute, you did the flashlight thing, and she kicked right at the spot!

Love78 - Wednesday, 23 July
Well, I went to the gym today and ran on the treadmill, which I haven't done in months. I ran for 30 min. My pace was a lot slower than it used to be, but it was still nice to at least get a run in. I ended up run running and then walking about 4 miles at the gym today. How long have your runs been for lately?

stacy5175 - Tuesday, 22 July
Even after two babies, my stomach was flat...a little extra skin only I could tell. Pilates does miracles for our core/abs, have you ever tried it? My hip is really hurting today, I am really bummed...I can barely walk! I guess I'll have to rest until it stops hurting. I'm going to call the dr. now. We went to an Angel Baseball game last night, I really enjoyed my hot dog and peanuts ;)

Love78 - Tuesday, 22 July
You look great too! I feel pressure when I run or work out also. I went to the gym today and did the elliptical machine. I didn't remember to bring by belt but that isn't very bouncy. It almost seemed like the baby was sitting on my bladder the whole time which didn't make it very comfortable. Do you feel like you have to pee when you tighten your belt? It seems like every time I walk out the door with that on about 3 minutes later it feels like I have to pee!

stacy5175 - Monday, 21 July
I was reading this pregnancy book for women over 36 yrs+ and of course it says that we are more likey to get stretch marks now because our skin is less elastic, great :) My mom has them on her tummy, but she has been overweight most of her life...so I'm hoping no stretch marks....gain weight slowly and not too much/eat healthy/hydrate and that's all we can do. My daughter is excited, but also a little worried...she's the baby now and has told me she doesn't want to be a middle child...but I think once the baby comes, she'll be so excited! She loves playing with dolls still, and taking care of them in their little stroller and baby crib. Have you done a 4 D ultrasound yet? They are really neat, I go for my second one at 30 weeks. I bought a DVD, and they play music..(your choice) I picked Journey..I haven't seen it yet, I had the first one at `16 weeks..so when I go back they'll finish the DVD with video and then I can take the DVD home. Insurance doesn't cover it though...but it's worth it.

stacy5175 - Monday, 21 July
you look so cute :) ALL BABY!

stacy5175 - Sunday, 20 July
99 days to go!!!!! YEAH!!!!

stacy5175 - Sunday, 20 July
I have an HMO, I wonder if that's why my NP made that comment, probably because Insurance won't pay for induction if it's not "medically necessary". Actually, with my first I started going into early labor at 35 weeks...they put me on terbutaline (yuck) which made me feel like I was on speed or something to stop the contractions. I was on that for 4 weeks, and then labor started 1 week before my due date. I don't have stretchmarks either, I'm assuming we would've gotten them by now. I drank a cappucino blast at 31 flavors with my 2nd, and went into labor. My dr. was funny...at that point he was encouraging me to have lots of sex to bring on the labor, but at that point you aren't really into it :) I still haven't decided about breastfeeding, I'll probably end up doing it because that's what's best for the baby! I did the flashlight thing last night to my belly, no reaction. My daughter thought it was mean, that I would startle her too much.

Love78 - Sunday, 20 July
I'm sure when you are feeling him that much, he's all over the place, in every direction. I've been feeling her move more and more up high. I wish I knew what body part I was actually feeling when I feel her. I'm sure that will happen soon though. I don't want a c-section either! I'm most concerned the baby will be so big they'll have to.

stacy5175 - Saturday, 19 July
She's doing better today, still sleeping...but at least she's not waking up as much crying. I remember those butt shots too!! Me too, I really want to induce early. I'm coaching my daughter's cheerleading team..and their big competition is Nov. 2 at the Sports Arena...so I was thinking I'd like to induce 1-2 weeks early. I usually see my dr. but 2 months ago I saw the Nurse Practitioner and I asked her if I could be induced, and she looked at me like I was crazy and said "why would you want to take the baby out early if it's not ready" so I felt stupid. i'm going to ask my dr. about it. I know soooo many moms who got induced early. My first one, I went into labor within a week of my due date and it didn't progress so they induced me. My 2nd, labor started naturally a few days after my due date. I never thought about being induced early before, but now I want to. I'd like to be able to plan my due date, so my mom can come and help us with the kids and stuff. I've been having left hip pain, esp. after I walk.

Love78 - Saturday, 19 July
I have not done the flashlight thing yet. I need to try that now that she's more active. Yesterday, it seemed like she was moving all day long. Whenever I was awake she was moving. I didn't feel her when I was sleeping, but as soon as I got up and started to move around this morning she was awake again and moving. I always thought that was suppose to be opposite. Hopefully, she continues this pattern though, so I can sleep through the night with out getting beat up. Last night, she was kicking so high that she was just probably less than an inch from my ribs. I'm sure in a week or so she will be kicking my ribs. Do you feel your son that high up too? I cannot believe we are almost at 3rd trimester.

shocked - Saturday, 19 July
You're right - it wasn't 6 lbs. in a week. I checked Dr.'s scales yesterday and it was only 3. Of course the night I used my scale at home (hardly ever use it), I had eaten a half of a large pizza for lunch, by myself!!!

Yesterday, failed my 3 hr. test - I have GD again. I cried for about an hour, talked to my husband (he's always so supportive and agreed to also give up oreos with me), also talked to some friends who cheered me up. But as I told one of them this morning - after this baby is born, I may just turn into a fat alcoholic because all I'm going to want to do is eat carbs and sweets and drink!

We're headed to the beach tomorrow for a week so I have to go finish packing! Are you doing ok?

Love78 - Saturday, 19 July
Yeah, I like names that are a little more unique too. I like Troy and I think that would sound fine with Allen, but is really hard to decide. It feels so funny when they move all over the place. Some days it does get a little tiring with all the movement going on though. This morning I was putting my socks on and when I bent over, I hurt myself. It almost felt like I bruised the uterus or something. It kind of concerned me but I did start to feel the baby move about an hour after I did that so I know she's okay!

stacy5175 - Friday, 18 July
oh, that sounds yucky! You too haven't had much sleep huh? Were you able to take any pain or sleeping meds? I never had my tonsils out, oh it just looks too painful. I remember when my mom had her eyes (upper/lower) done and neck lift a few years ago...and I took care of her. It's a good week or two before you look decent. Feel better. While I was at the hospital I was thinking about the day we'll be there to deliver...hoping it'll come sooner. I'm anxious for pregnancy to be over...not good being patient. Not that I don't love this little girl with all my heart ;)

stacy5175 - Thursday, 17 July
We didn't sleep much last night, my daughter slept with us...tossed and turned all night. Gosh, we are both really nervous, I'm trying not to act like I am....don't want to her feel my nervous vibes..but it's hard. She got tonsilitis 6x in 6 months, and she is allergic to the main antibiotic to treat tonsilitis. Swelling gone down a lot now? What has your fundus measurements been? At 20 weeks, mine was 19....at 23 weeks it was 22. He said that was good, as long as you are a few cm + or -

Love78 - Thursday, 17 July
We actually talked about boys names last night. He has been wanting to name a boy David Michael which is after our fathers. I told him I'd rather have Michael David just because David is his dad's name and I don't want there being two Davids with the same last name. He was okay with that, so it is nice to know we've made some decisions. At least you have the middle name down so you only have to come up with the first. We talked about the names Christan or even doing an Aaron Jr, but that would mean there would be 3 in the house hold with the name Erin/Aaron and that could get confusing. What boys names are you liking?
