Here I am, 39 and pregnant - again. I suffered a miscarriage in December. This will be my first (and only) child if all goes well. I've had a lot of cramping, which I also had in my last pregnancy and it scares me a lot. After reading this site, though, I don't feel so bad and it is much more common than I thought. I'm hoping and looking forward to a happy, healthy, and successful pregnancy term.

March 30

At the end of week 9. Feeling fine, just kinda tired. I get pains in my lower abdomen. I hope that it's my uterus accomodating a growing baby. My tummy feels slightly hungry/nauseous once in while and that's definitely not normal for me. Still running and doing crunches. My abs hurt like heck when I get up from doing crunches. Weird!

April 7

11 weeks today and have no symptoms aside from starting to get tired again and tender nipples. First appointment is a week from today. I'd like to think I'm lucky and hope my first appointment doesn't prove otherwise.

April 16

Had my first ultrasound on the 14th. Baby was still but there was a heartbeat. Didn't get to hear it. :-( My due date is uncertain as the doctor got two different measurements, but still the end of October.

April 25

Heard the heartbeat today! 162 beats per minute. Music to my ears. Cervix is tightly shut and all signs point to a normal pregnancy. I'm a happy camper!

May 7

Made it through a painful amnio yesterday. Luckily, the pain only lasted two seconds or so when the needle was inserted. After that, it was cake. Heartbeat was 150 beats per minute and he/she was waving at us during the ultrasound. Feeling fine. No movement yet. Still tired, but making it a point to continue exercising and building the best baby I possibly can.

May 16

Got my amnio results today. We're having a very healthy baby boy. Not the pink I was hoping for, but I love him nonetheless. I am thrilled to be a mother!

June 4

Had my 20 week ultrasound today. It was great to see him, weighing a whopping 12 ounces! 130 heart beats per minute. He didn't move much, despite all the prodding the technician did. Pregnancy is going great, even though I haven't felt him move yet. I long for that day....

June 6

I finally "got the boot" tonight. What an amazing feeling! I love my son!

July 19

26 weeks tomorrow and boy do I finally feel pregnant in every sense of the term. I'm tired, my back hurts, it's hard to bend. I feel him moving often and it makes me so incredibly happy.

I really want to name her Alexandra Morgan, but my husband wants her name to be Morgan Erin. I'm kind of dead set on the name I want because he got to name his other daughter and I think what he has selected sounds too similar to his other daughter's name. Have you come up with any names?

I can't believe you and your husband felt his first kick together - that can not happen very often!

How'd your appointment go? How much weight have you gained?

I go in on Thursday morning!

Love78 - Tuesday, 10 June
Cute baby bump! You are really starting to show now.

mayxanh - Monday, 9 June
thank you for you comment. you are beautiful women. goodluck with your pregnancy

Don't worry too much about your little guy moving around - you and I look about the same body type/size and I just started REALLY feeling him move (everyday, several times) consistently this week (I'm in my 24th week).

It's a shame that you have to deal with your stepson's Mom, especially if she's not pleasant, but it sounds like he adores you. How old is he now? I bet he'll be able to help a lot with the baby too.

And I'm glad your husband's thinking has turned around and that he's so excited now. It really is quite special to see your husband melt over kids and babies (& tummies).

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Yeah, that picture really shows my reflection. Kind of funny!

Oh how wonderful! I'm so happy for you! Aaron had his hand on my belly last night but neither of us felt any movement : ( He was just so amazed that I couldn't feel her moving around during the ultrasound.

Mine was done at at the imaging center which was basically the office right next to where I go for my OB appointments. The whole ultrasound appt lasted 1 hour, but the dvd was taken towards the end after they looked everything over to make sure the baby was okay and that I was too.

I kept my old toy box with some of my dolls and stuffed animals from when I was a kid. I had my mom bring them over for me this morning so I can give it to the baby. Here I thought that stuff would be in storage forever!

Yeah, that does work out well. We could hook the kids up! : ) Actually, my husband is taking it pretty well. I was kind of concerned at first because I knew he had his hopes up for a boy. I knew I'd be okay either way and I was kind of preparing myself that it was probably a girl just because of the way I'm carrying her. Everyone that seems to be having boys started showing eariler than me, so I just had this feeling. Did they give you a dvd of your ultrasound? They gave us a dvd and 4 printed pictures. The only bad thing was, we don't have a scanner and I couldn't get the pictures straight off the dvd so I had to take pictures of the computer monitor as the dvd was playing. You can kind of see my reflection in some of them. haha

Well, it's a girl. That's alright though. It will be fun to shop for all the little cute dresses and stuff. My nurse said to look out for feeling the baby move probably within the next two weeks. My baby was moving all over the place during the ultrasound. It was difficult to tell the sex at first too because she had her legs so close together. She was kicking and squirming all over though. They changed my due date to Oct. 26th also.

OK, I have little girls and they are wonderful, BUT there is a huge amount of MAXIMUM DRAMA with absolutely everything! And from what I understand, it will continue through high school and into college (quick grab me another bottle of wine!!!). So there is a little downside there. From what all my friends with boys tell me, there is an amazing relationship between a boy and his mom and there's nothing like it. I'm sure if you've raised your stepson since 4, you two probably have a pretty good relationship. How old is he now?

I am the same as you with the pregnancy - doing great. I had gained 9 pounds at my 20 wk checkup (3 weeks ago) but I have a feeling it's starting to come on a little more quickly now.

Thanks again for your support regarding the AMA forum. I can't believe what I thought to be such inoccuous statements ended up such a huge deal. And then all the posts were deleted - wow.

How did your u/s go on Wed.? Is your husband getting excited now?

Grace - Friday, 6 June
Hey thanks for the comment, yeah they do make the pics look cute, but they make me look angry LOL they wouldn't leave the camera alone.
Thanx again.

I've also had pain in what feels like my hip bone. Every now and then it shoots. A lady I work with said that is from the ligaments stretching. I have not felt the baby yet either. You'd think with running we'd be able to feel it moving around, but I'm just thinking our stomach muscles must be too strong still. I read online that if you have strong abs you probably won't feel the baby until later. I went to wear one of my regular pairs of pants this morning but there was no way. I had to wear a maternity pair and I spent all day pulling them up because were a little big still. Well, I'll let you know how the ultrasound goes tomorrow. I'm excited!

Love78 - Friday, 6 June
How cute! I love to see their little hands and arms!

TammyJo - Thursday, 5 June
thank you for your opinion, I guess I'll wait n see if a coworker suggests one, cause my family sure wont.

mamabare30 - Thursday, 5 June
the technician didn't tell me any of the stats, I snuck a peak when she left the room and tried to understand what i was reading.. didn't see a weight anywhere though.. if my midwife tells me the stats and weight is on the list i'll let you know next week :) awesome pics btw, it's funny the difference between morning and night eh? my belly pics are just before bed so it's bigger than it is first thing in the morning!

Andrea1222 - Thursday, 5 June
no i didnt even know about it!

How've you been feeling lately? Every now and then my stomach feels really stretched tight. I think is from having all the muscles or something. Have you felt that too? We go in for our ultrasound Friday. I cannot wait!

beachbaby - Wednesday, 4 June
Hi there, cute ultrasound pics by the way. I have slowed it way down to 1 or 2 runs (most of the time only 1) a week at 2-3miles (and I walk the hill). I began to notice that my hips and back didn't seem very stable and my body was taking longer to recover, so I cut back on the running, but still enjoy fast walks, cycling, swimming and hiking. I am doing the swim portion of a triathlon this Sunday with my friend biking (10wks prego) and my hubby running. I think it will be my last active event before "D-Day".
I am glad to hear that you are still up and running and know what you mean about the belt, I felt the same way, then all of the sudden one day (around 6months)I knew I needed it and was glad to have it handy.
People often ask why I am still so active and most think that I am just vain and don't want to gain any extra baby weight. Okay, I DO care how I look, but with the 24lbs I have gained thus far I am not worried all about the weight. It honestly feels refreshing to me to be able to break outside on a run or do a workout for me, when my body is being taken over by our little one. Enjoy this "selfish" alone time as there probably won't be much time for it in the near future.
Happy trails,
Nichole
