No, that's NOT what I meant...You have to nurse often, whenever baby acts hungry, to keep up with his appetite( my babies always knaw at their hand when they're hungry). What I meant about "don't do too much", is don't do more than your body can handle, activity-wise. You'll probably get tired quickly those first few weeks, and your body will tell you about it afterwards...so, if you can just be careful with yourself to start out with, you'll be fine!

Our baby girl is finally here! Sofia Isabella came into the world on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 @ 5:32 pm via c-section. She weighed 10 lbs 13 oz and was 21 3/4 inches long. I had a scheduled c-section for Thursday, April 24 but when I went to the doctor on April 23rd for my Pre-Op appt, my blood pressure was a little on the high side, so my doctor thought it would be best to do my c-section that same day! I have posted lots of pictures on my page! Check out all of her hair! She looks just like her Daddy! We are so happy and excited that she is here! Everyone absolutely adores her, especially my husband and her big brother! Austin is such a great big brother. He has been such a big help! He loves holding her and singing to her. My husband just loves being a Daddy, he is even changing stinky diapers!!! I am exhausted but I am slowly recovering. Please keep in touch!

speaking of swollen feet i just put on an old pair of shoes only to find out that I do NOT fit them anymore.

lovemybabyboy - Tuesday, 22 April
I was just checked for dilation for my first time yesterday. It is uncomfortable and you feel pressure but it does not hurt that bad. It is excited to find out the results and it only takes a few seconds.

mom4aab - Tuesday, 22 April
Hi I was just reading your blog and I had both of my kids natural with no drugs because the whole needle in the back thing just kinda freaks me out. I am hoping to go this time too without anything but i am lucky so far labor was never to bad for me. my son was only 6 hours then my daughter was only 2 1/2 hours. the doc said this one would be really fast. so i hope so. but this pregnancy has been completly different then my first two. but if it is to bad or to long i wouldn't be opposed to an epidural. so good luck. i am also having a baby girl and due may 5th.:)

mom4aab - Tuesday, 22 April
I think a lot has to do with who does them. because when my doc does them it never hurts but I remember when i was in labor some nurses hurt and some didn't. so i think it depends on who is doing them. and it's not like it ever really hurt it was just uncomfortable. never painful. that's been my experiance. Good luck to you and baby!!

NJDevChick - Tuesday, 22 April
I think it depends on the person and the doctor, I had my 3rd internal exam since they started doing them weekly at 36 weeks and none of them have been painful, but I remember them being a bit more painful with my first...

snowwhite5thbabe - Tuesday, 22 April
When they check me (they push fingers into your cervix and stretch it), it's VERY uncomfortable, and then I have cramping for several hours... I've asked not to be checked this time, unless they NEED to see if I'm ripe for induction (which I am slightly considering, since I had a VERY fast birth last time).

MommyinMD - Tuesday, 22 April
It definitely doesn't hurt me. I've been checked twice. With one doctor, there was no discomfort whatsoever, with another doctor she was a little more invasive and I felt a SLIGHT discomfort, but definitely not pain. And then as soon as she was done, all was fine. I've heard some women say they cramped down there after being checked, but I've not had a bad experience at all.

gabbs - Tuesday, 22 April
Everyone is different, But when I was having contractions in the hospital and they check you it was uncomfortable and yes I was not looking forward to the nurses checking me every hour or so. Remember once it's all over, it will all be worth it. Besides when the baby was out the pain went away. I was sore but the comparison of labour and soreness is very different. Even with all the uncomfortable moments of birth this is my 4th and I never got an epidural, stay focused, strong and Bless you and your new Baby.

brandi0881 - Tuesday, 22 April
It really depends on what your pain threshold is. It is pretty umcomfortable. More so than a pap, but it's not unbearable pain or anything. Don't be scared, it's not that big of a deal!

christie78 - Sunday, 20 April
Hi Dana Lee, Strep B and strep throat are caused by the same bug from what I know. However, if you have had strep throat, you have not necessarily had step b vaginally, so do not fear! Although it is the same germ, they are completely differernt diseases / viruses....Hope that helps! Good luck with all! xxx

Hi! I went to the dr this past Wednesday for my 38 week appt. I gained 2 lbs, so now my grand total is 40 lbs. I am having a scheduled c-section on Thursday, April 24 @ 11:30 am, so I don't have much longer to go! I feel so huge, uncomfortable, and miserable. I absolutely have NO energy. I am so exhausted. I have been sleeping ALOT which means I have been accomplishing pretty much nothing these past few days. Well I have less than a week to go before I can finally meet my Sofia Isabella! I am slowly getting excited but I am so exhausted and overwhelmed that the excitement hasn't completely kicked in. I can't wait to meet her, see what she will look like and see just how big she is! How have you been? Keep in touch! I would love to hear from you :) Kristin

that was so funny about dairy queen....people just dont have a clue. my hubby's b-day was this week and i ran into the grocery store just for ice cream only....i had THREE different people make "pregnancy/ice cream" jokes before i got back to my car....ridiculous!

triafrog - Friday, 18 April
i'm so jealous - I want a table w/ boobie holes! :) Glad you're feeling better from your massage! My hubby told me to go get a mani and pedi but I'd rather buy baby stuff!

triafrog - Friday, 18 April
Even holes for boobies? That sounds heavenly!!! The place I went only had the belly thing w/ elastic stuff to hold you up, but the boobie thing would be great LOL - i've even asked my hubby if I can cut a hole in our mattress and when I'm done being preggo we can just flip it LOL

I've heard horror stories about pitocin too, like how it makes labor come so much harder than it would have naturally. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. My daughter only weighed six pounds so I doubt I would have had much trouble pushing her out and would have recovered a lot sooner and easier. All the pitocin did for me was cause slight contractions, so slight that it didn't hurt at all, just a tightening tingling sensation around my lower tummy and back. It looks like you're about as big as I am right now. I'm kinda worried about the size of this baby now too. But the doc seems unconcerned. He said it doesn't matter because we already know that I have to have a repeat c-section. But then again, some women get huge and still have tiny babies. Ya never know for sure until they get here. I've read that doing some squatting exercises will help open your pelvis wider so that you can give birth more easily. Maybe you could try that. But no matter how the birth happens, just hope and pray for a healthy baby and mom. Everything else is just details.

NurseDawn - Friday, 18 April
I was 10 days late and the doc decided it was time to try to induce. I was on pitocin for a day and nothing happened. Her heart rate kept dropping suddenly, so they were worried about that and took me in for the c-section. We found out that every time she tried to drop into the birth canal, her cord was in the way and she'd press on it and cut off her blood supply. I don't think your size will be a problem. I think moms have had them naturally at bigger weights than that. I hope it won't be a problem for you. Good luck!

chrissi10990 - Thursday, 17 April
Yes it was from an ultrasound- she actually went in to have the us because she kept having dreams she was going to have a girl after they told told her it was a boy, so her dr just wanted to make her feel a little better, and thats when they gave her the weight estimate
