pregnantfor rebecca

My name is viviana, vivi for short, im 18 yrs old, and im a senior in highschool...eventhough im young, and what im going through is scary, i know ill be ok, and that i'll never regret keeping my baby...At first i was terrified by the idea of telling my family, but they are fine with it now. Now the only people who will be shocked will be my entire school!, but my dad says i shouldnt be embarrased...so as soon as it starts getting hot out, im done wearing my sweaters! My boyfriends name is Danny and he's 17, also a senior but at another school. We've been dating for 2 years, and i'm so happy we are still 2gether. His family is also really nice about it, which is good. Thats about it, so ill keep posting as the SLOW 9 months go by :)

JANUARY 1st, 2008:

i went to the movies with my sister to see Juno, which i recommend to all the teens on here, anyways, on way home, i was like 'ok, its now or never!!'...I TOLD HER!!! i still cant belive it...it was sooo hard, what made it easier was that since she was driving so i dint have to look at her face-face! anyways, i started crying right away, so did she, but im sooo glad i told her, i cant believe how she took it...after crying she was like 'YAY!! im so happy!!' whcih makes me so happy!...the next day she told my other sister, who is also excited now!....they are going to be the ones to tell my parents...THANK GOD!...the only bad thing is that they want to tell this weekend, and i wanted them to tell in like 3 weeks....im sooo scared of what my moms reaction is going to be...im making sure that i wont be home, so that she can have the weekend to think about it. I'll update on how that goes!

January 16:
I had my first appointment, which was ok. I felt like i was at planned parenthood since all they did was a papsmear. They said it was too early to hear the heartbeat so i have to wait till the next visit in 4 weeks! :( The only good thing was that i was only there about 1/2 hour. Also, they dont do sonograms there, so i have to make an appointment somewhere else which hopefully will be b4 the 4 weeks. Oh and by the way my parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, his parents, every1 knows....my dad is really ok with it, but my mom didnt talk 2 me for 2 days! then we talked, and she's just worried about me. Now, she went out and bought me 2 maternity shirts, and 2 maternity pants..lol. So to all u teens, JUST TELL!!...i thought they would kill me but i was soooo wrong! U'll feel 100000 times better!! well thats all for 2day...BYE BYE!

February 22:
Havenbcuz of the pain...they couldnt do much, but atleast i got 2 hear my baby's heartbeat!! :)...well that lasted about a week...then at 14.5 weeks, i had my appointment, where they drew blood, i didnt think much of it until i got a terrible call where they told me the results came back abnormal!! :( its the AFP test, my results were 1:34 they gave me a little hope by telling me that the test was done a day and a half 2 early and that might've affected the results, so i went back a week later at 15.6 weeks...hopefully these results will be good! im sooooo sad about it....couldnt stop crying...every1 tells me not 2 worry, but how can i not?? im scared, but if these results come back bad, i think im doing the amnio...which will drive me crazy bcuz those results wouldnt come back for about 2 weeks...the new afp test results will come back either tomorrow or monday, so ill keep posting...bye everyone..and good luck on a happy and healthy pregnancy.'t updated in a while, but im not 2 happy anymore. During week 14, i spent it in the bathroom. i had a horrible virus and im not talking about throwing up :( i had HORRIBLE cramps..i couldnt sleep during the nights at all...i finally went to the hospital

February 25th:

Soanyways...called my doctor...and my results still aren't back, they said to call back 2mrw!!...so today is not exactly my best day....dont even want to know whats coming for the rest of the week.

Hey hun my results came back to day, all normal!. I started with a score of 1/65 and I'm only 30 Y/O. They give that score to women just for being 40 and, that's not including the AFP blood test. So my low score was based on my abnormal blood levels - not age or family history. That is what freaked me out the most - I could not blame my crappy score on age, family history or gestational age. How are you feeling today?

jlspoonylove - Friday, 22 Feb
Good luck sweetie!

ilovemykids - Friday, 22 Feb
well i will tell you that my doctor won't do it for 4 more weeks and it has to be around 18...if its too early it will say positive...so i'm guessing you will have inacurate results...if i were you i would tell them you want to schedule it in a few more weeks...it's an optional test...so they can't make you do it...so if you tell them you want to wait til you are further along to make sure they are accurate...

momentfrozenintime - Thursday, 21 Feb
Hey! I told my mom before I knew I was pregnant, just because I didn't think I was, but I didn't know what was going on. And she ended up telling everyone else when it was confirmed, and I was surprised how supportive everyone is! So I'm glad that everyone knows and it's all out!

jlspoonylove - Thursday, 21 Feb
Just try and keep yourself busy till the test comes back. They usually want to give you a level 2 ultrasound before the amnio but its prolly your age that concerns the doc. Just remember they always have to give you the worst case seniero. Dont put ANY faith in the AFP test. NONE!!!! Its a screening not a diagnois. I had a freind that was your age when she was pregnant with her daughter. She had the same test results , got the amnio and everything was fine. Her daughter is now 12 and she is fine. We also have a friend that EVERY test they gave her when she was pregnant came back that her baby would def have DS.. Guess what.. she is a year and a half and FINE!! You really dont know what you are gonna get till it happens. Ive heard of girls that every test they have had said the baby was fine and the baby wasnt. The only advice i can give you is do some deep soul seachering. I did and came up with the conclusion that no matter how my baby turns out... IM ok with it. I will love her no matter what. I think once you can get to that point with this, everything else will be a litter easier. Good luck and let me know.

loveatfirstbump - Thursday, 21 Feb
The AFP test is generally done between the 16th and 18th weeks of pregnancy, while the triple screen can be done a bit earlier. The gestational age is very important, because the amount of hormone in your blood will vary with gestational age. Your AFP could be off even if your gestational age was off by one week. They said they were 1-2 days early but they could be wrong. I’m 22 weeks pregnant and my due date was changed 3 times! Nothing is 100% certain - doctors aren’t perfect and are wrong a lot of the time.

My husband and I sat and talked with a geneticist and even she said that there might be factors other than gestational age that affect the test, but there wasn’t enough research to find out what those factors were. I can so empathize with how you are feeling right now. You should keep in mind that these test are wrong most of the time. I read of a doctor who had only delivered one Down syndrome baby in his 9 years of work! He said in the article that he had seen 300 AFP positive tests and all of them were false positives.-The Down syndrome child’s AFP test came back normal. These tests are soooo unreliable and scare the crap out of a lot of women.

I had the amino done about 2 days after I got my AFP results back. I had a routine U/S done before the amino and the tech told me that my baby looked normal! The U/S was already scheduled a week earlier so technically I went straight to the Amino after the blood test result. You could request an U/S before the Amino but U/S aren’t really good at determining if a baby has Down syndrome. There are a few markers they look for but if you want to be 99.9% you should have the Amino done. I’m still waiting for my Amnio results. I should know by Friday and you’ll be the first to know when my results come back normal :-) I still haven’t heard anything about my U/S, which was done one week ago. No news is good news so this just reinforces what the technician told me - my baby is fine, and yours will be too.

ilovemykids - Wednesday, 20 Feb
hello...i just went to the doctor yesterday and my doctor said that they shouldn't do it until you are at least 18 weeks...when i went to leave i scheduled my ultrasound and the nurse at the desk said to make sure that the dates match up cuz if they do it too early then it will come back positive when its not....so i wouldn't worry...your doctors office should have never done it at 14 weeks...so relax and everything is probably going to be okay...

Jennifer - Tuesday, 19 Feb
Hey I just read your comment about the blood testing..and I did mine this morning. I am 15wks 6days. my doctor told me you couldnt do that testing any earlier bc it would not be accurate..all it does is test hormone levels in your blood stream. hope that helps...:)

GoonieMomma - Tuesday, 5 Feb
too soon, no way! check out my update on my page. I'm feeling mine at night! They say that it's more likely to feel if you're walking around and suddenly go to a sitting or standing position. Then the kid's like, 'Hey ma, more walking.' Can't wait until they're born and you have to pace to keep them sleeping. Congrats on your little running beetle!

HAHA as soon as i saw your message.. i was like what?!*? but there are actually two babies named kaelin.. my friends is the one that has like 34 votes.. but hey 2 more votes and i will be in 4th place. lol

i'm kinda mad because the little baby that is in 1st place.. well yesterday i was checking on the votes and she had like 120 votes... well 5 mins later she had 245 votes. I don't see how that is possiable. so some how i think she cheated.. but what ever. .i'm beating all of my friends so thats all that matters to me. haha jk.

So your only a few weeks away from finding out what you are having. do you want a boy or a girl?? i wanted a little boy and was sooo sure that we were having a boy.. so when the ultrasound lady said its a girl i was shocked. But i am soooo happy i have a little girl. she is just so wonderful.

i'm so glad ur parents were ok with everything. I think most parents get mad at first but then they get over it and become happy about it. oh and second trimester is the best one so enjoy it now.. because once you hit the third.. it's not soo fun any more.lol

DianaC86 - Wednesday, 30 Jan
Awesome.. thank you so much for voting for my little girl. It's crazy because now a third friend of mine put her son on there to.. i actually don't really care that much but since i was the first to enter.. and was the one who even told them about it i feel like i need to beat them. haha

ok the kids on there that belong to my friends are.. the first one is the little girl kaelin and that is my friend kristin's daughter, There is a little boy named Dylan and that is my friend Rachel's son and the third one is Kaidne (he is the little boy sitting in the package with the santa hat on) And he is my friend michelle's son.

But besides all of that.. how is you pregnancy going?? Are you having any morning sickness?? let me know i love hearing about peoples pregnancies. well take care and thanks again for voting.

Hi there I read your post about the heart beat. I went to the docter yesterday and I'm 11 weeks 5 days and the nurse told me they may not be able to pick up the heart beat. We ended up hearing it but they said they normally don't listen for the heart beat until 12 weeks. So its very normal. If you get an early ultra sound you can hear it that way. I had and ultra sound at 7 weeks and hear it then. Congratulations on your Pregnancy!!!

wedward - Wednesday, 16 Jan
It sounds like to me she was being lazy. I have been listening to my baby's hb for two weeks with my personal doppler. In my opinion, you should call the office and ask them why you didn't get this.

brandy - Wednesday, 16 Jan
We heard the heart beat at 8 weeks. Im not really sure what the norm is though.

evajean - Wednesday, 16 Jan
haha i know what you mean about the bloating. i didnt always feel bloated w/my daughter. after about 15 it died down, when i started showing. with this pregnancy, im 10 weeks today and im as big as i was when i was about 4 months along with my daughter! haha

mum2bedaisy - Sunday, 13 Jan

i had my first baby at 18 i was unmarried, i had to grow up fast but would not change it for anything. when they grow up you will be young enough to still enjoy them. also your parents might be a little upset but a baby is a happy thing no matter what. i am 10 weeks pregnant with my second, and my first appt is also on wed. you should be able to hear the heartbeat with the doppler, and its the coolest thing ever! let me know how everything goes!! good luck :)

leasha - Saturday, 5 Jan
your fears about miscarrying are completely normal! especially if you've had one before. i miscarried my last one at around 10 weeks, so i'm just taking everyday that comes as a blessing! I don't know any statistics but i know that once you hear or see the heartbeat your chances of miscarrying reduce significantly. I know that its much much easier said that done, but just try to think positive :) I hope things work out for you and congrats!

GoonieMomma - Saturday, 5 Jan
Saw your post on the 9-wk forum. I also have dried blood in my nose- only there when I blow it. I've read that runny and bloody noses are common during pregnancy. I think it's just that it's SO dry that we're not bleeding out!

I read your notes on your page. Very proud of you telling your sister; I told mine just last week. She was pregnant young and was so afraid to tell me- so I was in your sisters' shoes. I had the same reaction yours had. It's great that you have some support. Let me know how your parents take it. Mine were upset w/ my sister. But that all changes once you bump out (for my mom) and once the kiddo is born (for my dad). Chin up.
One last thing about the nose. Gross, but it works to make mine less, well for lack of a better word, ICKY! Put a dab of Vaseline on a q-tip and slather it around in there, especially at night. If you don't have that, you can use a tiny bit of Neosporin (though this has a sweet smell that my nauseous tummy can't handle). I've been in a jam and smeared cherry chapstick on a finger and went to town... desperate times call for desperate measures.

Keep me updated!
Jen (GoonieMomma)

Hi, I saw ur comment on the 9 weeks page.. Yeah, I am 9 wks and have the weird blood inside nose thing.. It was really freaking me out. Glad I'm not alone! Good luck with everything and lots and lots of baby dust!

emma1ee - Friday, 4 Jan
hey girl. trust me.. i was in your exact shoes only a couple months ago. I was raised in an EXTREMELY religious (cathlioc) family where premarital sex meanwhile getting pregnant is totally against the family. When i found out i cried for days.. not becuase i was sad or mad but because i was scared to tell my parents. I read your page and noticed you have sisters. You're lucky!! My sister was the first person i told and i was so happy i had her because she talked with me about how we were going to tell my parents and her and her fiance even flew into town to be there with me when i told them! Instead of sitting my parents down and telling them, i bursted into tears and said i was pregnant. At first my mom just looked at me and said 'you have to get married'. My dad took it extremely well, when at first i only imagined him screaming in my face. Now they are extremely happy and can't wait until their first grandchild comes!! I know its scary.. but the sooner you tell your parents, the better!!! I'm glad i told my parents the day after i found out because my mom comes to every appt with me and i can ask her about any symptoms i'm having!!.. I see you're planning on telling them soon, so good luck!! and let me know how everything goes!!!
