Well, I've been a member here for months and I'm just now writing something in my profile. I've been married to my husband, Joe for two wonderful years, and this is our first child. He's a systems architect (uber-geek), and I'm a massage therapist and former registered nurse. We are having a baby boy, Michael Gregory, named after his two granddads.

We tried for about 4 months to get pregnant, and had one early miscarriage along the way. When we found out about this one, we were thrilled! I had to supplement progesterone in the first trimester to prevent another miscarriage, but I actually got to stop the supplements early when I started having hyperemesis around 7 weeks. Hyperemesis is a NIGHTMARE! The first 22 weeks of this pregnancy were horrid - hospitalizations, IV fluids and nutrition, anti-nausea medications by the handful, and 22 pounds of weight loss. I started feeling better after that, went back to work, and managed to get off the meds at 28 weeks.

At 24 weeks, I had a placental bleed. It was a mild detachment with a bunch of blood clots in the placenta. I was on bed rest for a short while, but was able to get back to work with no ill effects.

Our little guy is strong, and reassures me of that often! I love sitting back and watching my belly dance. I hate being pregnant, because I really suck at it, but I'm madly in love with this little thing in my belly. I just can't wait to meet him!

We're using cloth diapers for a host of reasons, and I'm always glad to talk with anyone about that!

Thank you. I'm so excited! And I am happy to wait until she is good, healthy and ready to come out! I actually could use a little more time mentally! lol!!!

that's so funny, i thought the same thing! i was thinking what if i poke his fragile little head to hard or he comes out all bruised up from me poking my belly lol... too funny! but yes, it is the most amazing thing, i'm having a great time with it!

that is so sweet about playing with your son for the first time! omg that gave me goosebumps. about two nights ago, i was lying on the couch when i felt him start bumping around. i put my hand in one area and nudged... then he nudged back! so i did it again, and he did it again! it was the best feeling ever. i told my husband but i think he thought i was exxagerating. i def was not, it was too cute.

I was just reading your profile. You have had quite an experience, but I am so glad your little guy is healthy. Don't feel bad about hating being pregnant. With my son, I sucked at it, too lol. His pregnancy took everything out of me, but this second one has not been too bad. I guess my body just needed practice the first time LOL. I also see you are from Round Rock. I grew up not too far from there in a little town right in between Dallas and Ft. Worth called Euless.

Best of luck with your last couple of months!!!

Yep., I had a 47 degree curve with a nice little twist to make things more interesting lol (I'm not sure on the the degree of the twist). I, too, had my surgery at 20. Unfortunately, with my son, I had a rather incompetent Dr to deal with, so my back records were never looked at (although I had them sent twice), so I was basically told"tough!" by the anesthesiologist and they gave me satol in my IV. It didn't take any of the physical edge off of the contractions, but I was a complete space cadet for about 2 hours. Satol can only be administered every few hours, so I didn't get a second dose and got to do the rest on my own (I was less than thrilled lol)

Luckily I have a great doc, now (and I have ALL of my back records lol), so I have been given more options if I decide on pain relief. I totally understand not wanting to go through the pain. I didn't want to at all, but now that I've done it once, I figure I'll go for it again (with the option to have something put in my IV if I need it).

I did have surgery to repair my hernia, but we are pretty sure it was not fully repaired, and now I have a nifty scar AND a hernia lol. Once I have this baby, if it's still there, I'll get it repaired for good, hopefully

re: preg.: well stated. i too love my son, but boy am i tired. it is nice to feel validated and not alone w/ these feelings. good luck.

I have had one major back surgery, so I, too, didn't have the option for a safe epidural. With my son, I was given satol through an IV, which only made me loopy for a couple of hours lol, so I had my son naturally (fun! lol). I have heard a little about hypnobirthing, and I imagine it could be very beneficial for relaxing during labor. My current anesthesiologist told me that a spinal is possible as pain relief. I think I'll just go ahead and go natural this time again, though, and use different birthing positions and a birthing ball to take the pressure off of my back (what was your surgery for if you don't mind my asking?). I might look into hypnobirthing myself. Best of luck to you with labor!

I also acquired an umbilical hernia with my first pregnancy. I remember feeling the same numb sensation around my belly button

Thank you. I just wasnt sure what i could take and what i could not take.

jenadamandbaby - Friday, 22 August
i was actually going to ask you what all you have to buy to have a 'complete diapering system'. obviously you need a bunch of the cloth diapers...you said about 24?
and then what are you using the prefolds for? nighttime? and the 'bummi covers'?
i want to get the NEW & ORGANIC bumGenius Organic One-Size Cloth Diapers. Do i need to buy anything else to go with them? it kind of sounds like i don't...

swede - Friday, 22 August
thanks for your comment about cloth diapers... we have a septic tank and therefore can 't use the g diapers.. I like the cloth diapers... -Eva

Spazzyt - Thursday, 21 August
I know. I had been so worried that it was the mucus plug too that I called my midwife and when she heard that we had sex the day before she said that was most likely it. With no other symptoms you probably don't have any thing to worry about but a call to your doc might make you feel better. I know I worry about EVERYTHING that seems strange, and for a first pregnancy, absolutely everything is strange anyways

Hunters Mommy - Thursday, 21 August
thank you! i think i will def get him in that class. i was always so undecided about the whole diaper thing b/c i knew it was smart to do cloth and SAVE, especially since i am going to be out of work for the first time ever, but never really knew anyone who used them. now i feel more comfortable with the idea and i think the class will be the place for us to start. gah i love this website and meeting ppl like you, otherwise, i would never have gotten good info like this. thank you!

Hunters Mommy - Thursday, 21 August
so it's a cloth diaper, and do you use a disposable liner of some sort? sounds like i might be able to do that... now i just gotta talk the husband into it lol...

Hunters Mommy - Thursday, 21 August
danielle, i'm trying to figure out this diaper thing. i really would love to use something other than disposable diapers. they are just so expensive but i'm not liking the thought of putting a poop filled diaper in my washing machine where all my clothes go. am i missing something? what do you do? i know it's gotta be different than what i am thinking.

Hunters Mommy - Wednesday, 20 August
Really? Wow! I didn't notice you were that close either. Of all the people on here lol... yeah holistic is definately not wacko. alot of my perspective is pretty religious based i guess you could say. i believe that God gave us the natural food of the earth like fruits, veggies, nuts, grains, seeds, etc... along with a body and immune system able to take care of itself, no matter what - as long as you are putting into it what he intended. with that said, my ultimate goal is to be strictly vegan and eat my own organic produce from my garden, but i'm not quite there yet. i do still eat fish and chicken and buy my organic produce, but baby steps... need a house for a garden lol

beth0928 - Thursday, 14 August
Your very welcome. Do you mind me asking why you had the surgery? Mine was for scoliosis.

Yada - Tuesday, 12 August
