My profile

My Husband and i are pregnant with our third child. We have known each other for about 13 years now and had our first baby 8 years ago. We had her when we were in high school. Our two kids we have now are 7 years apart because we wanted to wait until we were married and older to have more children. But I wouldn't have it any other way. We are very happy with our two girls and can't wait to meet our third little girl!!

7-14-2008 So I found out about a week ago that I have gestational diabetes and I've had to completely change my diet and make sure I exercise 30 minutes a day. Which I have been doing really good so far. I have not cheated at all. My doctor called me today to see how my numbers were and he wants me to come in tomorrow to see him. I have a feeling he is going to have me put on insulin. I really don't want to be on insulin but I guess whatever it takes to make sure my baby is healthy.

Update 7-15-08
So, I saw my doc today and he still is not sure about the insulin. He is taking my numbers to a specialist to get his opinion and than I will have to see the specialist to get an ultrasound to see how big the baby is and how much fluid is around the baby. so more Doc visits!

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hello,

Thanks for writing I haven’t been online lately - I am now on complete bed rest with preterm labor issues GDM and now Preeclampsia I am only supposed to get up to use the bathroom and go to the doctors 3 times a week for varies test. Just wanted to respond to your mail to say hi, and let you know I won’t be online much these days (if at all/ no lap top!) the good news is my doctor is going to induce me in 3 weeks when I am 37 weeks along if I don't go sooner - so there is light at the end of the tunnel. :) Hope you’re well and the GDM is not too rough on you! I wish you all the best of luck - Take care! x :)

That is great news - congrats! Yea I'm on Glyburide also one tab in the morning and one in the evening. I am so glad there is something pregnant woman can take! I feel so bad though I had a brownie today and it took my numbers to 180 ...scary! I have to do better - yikes! Keep me updated and glad to hear you're doing well! :)

Hello,
Went to the docs today - All is well only gained 1 lbs in 2 weeks can’t believe I have to diet while preggers but that’s life ;) Also looks like I’m going to stay on the oral medication just two doses a day instead of one. Feww...! I am sure the appointment w/ the dietician helped a lot I know it helped me. When will you see your doctor about medication - and how are you doing?

darcy - Tuesday, 15 July
Hi - no I absolutely understand my fasting numbers are anywhere from 94 to 108 with the nightly glyburide tablet. I test first thing in the morning and then every two hours after a meal or snack. When I stick strongly to the diet my numbers are anywhere from 74 to 118 depending on what I am eating (have to keep it below 120) but If I go over the carb count or have any refined sugars my numbers stay above 140 two hours after eating -so I am still trying really hard to stick the diet. I’ve been on it for almost a month so I still have an occasional bad day but really try to avoid the bad stuff. I feel the same way about insulin, sounds scary but as you said whatever is best for baby! I go to the docs on Wednesday and will find out what exactly is the next step in bringing down my fasting numbers - I can let you know what’s going on if you would like?! How are your numbers?

darcy - Monday, 14 July
You're not alone I have GD too - It is a big pain in the butt w/ huge diet change and portion sizes being so small I am so hungry all the time, I take glyburide in the evenings to bring my fasting numbers down (might have to go on insulin if the numbers don't drop a few more points) - and now that I've been diagnosed all I really want (which never did before) is to eat everything I am not supposed too i.e. cookies, cake ice cream... It isn't easy! I wish you the best of luck, hang in there - it's not forever is what I tell myself! x :)

indimom - Monday, 14 July
HI, I am pregnant with Twins and I am dignosed with GD since week 17th. Its not bad as you think. Now you have to say eat more healthy stuff like fruits and veggies and lots of proteins. Have you seen a dietician yet..its a good idea to see one.
For me, my fasting numbers were so high that they put me on insulin right away, but after few days you get use to it........
Trust me, listen to your doctors and follow the diet....you will do great

I try to tell myself that if that is the only bump Im lucky but, its not working very well. Oh well, its nothing compaired to delivery which I have managed to put out of my mind until the last couple of days.

sunrisehill - Thursday, 3 July
I have to go for a 3 hr screen on next tuesday. I dont want to do it either. I dont want to be poked 4X. I also have to start doing nonstress tests. Hope everything else is going well though. My doctor cheered me up when she said that not a very big percentage of people who have to do the three hour actually have diabeties.
