BIRTH STORY!

So I went to the hospital Feb. 9th due to some abdominal pains (this is the 3rd time that I went to the hospital b/c of pains) and as usual they hooked me up to the monitors and asked the normal questions, but they said they were gonna keep me for awhile just to watch me. Well the dr came into the room with a portable ultrasound machine and put it on my tummy and he said he was checking to make sure that the baby was still head first. I was very surprised that he was doing that b/c he had never done it before. Then another dr came in and said that they were gonna keep me overnight b/c my baby's heartbeat was too high and then she said the magic words...they were going to INDUCE me!! So I was admitted to the hospital and put into a delivery room. The dr inserted some kind of medication to make my cervix soften and they said that another dr would be in to check it at 6am (it was around 1am by this time). So my contractions became more frequent through the night which made it extremely hard for me to sleep, plus I was super excited about my little one! They came and checked me and took out the medication then they broke my water (which felt so funny!!) and started the pitocin. Well I had planned on having him naturally, but my mind was quickly changed the moment I felt the first REAL contraction!! I asked for the epidural!! The procedure wasn't bad at all and I no longer felt the pain. I did start to feel pressure down below as he descended though. Well I was making good progress until I got to 8cm, I was stuck there for 5 hrs! I also had a fever and my baby was getting tired so that's when they decided that I needed to have an emergency c section. I was soo scared and couldn't stop crying, but I had to do what was best for my son. So they prepped me for the procedure and at 12:25am on Feb. 11th Ryan Tristan Gilbert II was born!! Which is also my mama's bday so that was my gift to her lol!

It's a BOY!! I'm due Feb. 13, 2008 and I'm very excited, nervous, anxious, nervous, thankful, oh and nervous!! I plan to have him naturally, but there will probably be some medicated assistance! I can't wait!! Oh yeah, his name will be Ryan Tristan Gilbert II! Good luck to everyone, I pray that we all have healthy babies!!!!
